Sweeping statements from someone with no interest in cars much?
Just maybe, they make good cars at a good price and your attempts at projecting snobishness on them is simply something you do?
In fairness, it's one of the reasons most of the country has 316i/318i floating around. People buy into the brand because it's considered upmarket, a thing of the tiger tbh.

You can't blame people for thinking that way when even BMW think that way. They've forgone the 3er coupe for the 4 series for as BMW says, the numeral change is “a sign of greater exclusivity."
Its a clinically simply lineup structure, much like Audi, Merc and Lexus.
It was simple, until they've decided to use every number available.

Super cleaning session planned tomorrow if I can find some shade to do it in.

i don't envy having to get them sticky flies off!

re shade, you have to treat your house like a sundial :P i find it happens for me around 7pm :pac:

    Village of the roses. Glasson.
Im working in Dublin these days, but tis my parents house in Glasson. I did the dublin-Galway-burren-cork-galway-dublin-galway-athlone bit in the last week. Had this weekend planned in Athlone so ill be damned if I was gonna drive Galway to Dublin last night only to be back in Athlone 2 days later.

Ah right... Must start keeping an eye for your yoke around the place then. :)

I've been doing Athlone-Dublin-Athlone-Dublin-Athlone-Dublin-Athlone-Dublin-Athlone so far this week, with a few detours along the way :pac:

Yup. Car is out the front atm, baking in the sun. No other place for it, but it should get the evening shade, which will do nicely once I clock off work.

Ive a 2-3 day plan of debugging 100%, rinse, retarring 100%, rinse, claying rinse. That should be this evening hopefully. Then its wheels washed and gel'd, interior vacuumed and polished, 2 bucket wash and dry. And probably on Saturday (If I can find some early shade) I need to DA all those swirls on the bonnet, and possible go DA nuts and do the whole car. Then wax

    Wish me luck!

PS. Must get some cool beers in for motivation/sustenance.

Nah I will blame people of ignorance when they say that the only reason anyone buys a BMW is to one up their neighbours and feel "better". Its a dumb off the cuff comment from someone with a professed zero interest driving an appliance. Being popular and/or successful doesnt automatically make anything/one a ****ty sellout. Granted I do know some people that did that, but same type of people flip-flop between Lexus, Audi and Merc too.

I also wouldnt agree BMW think of themselves that way, they have many USPs they try to "graft" with varying degrees of success into their products, unlike say, Lexus, who have a smaller and more focused tool set.

Ah yeah, I'd agree with you there. It's certainly not the only reason people buy them, but its true for the average paddy unfortunately. Thankfully I'd say nobody I know with a BMW actually falls into that group, certainly nobody I know on here anyway!

Okay. The bangernomics clio went into it's NCT today.

Failed as I was expecting but not on much. Brakes (service brake effort 90% :D) fine, tracking/shocks fine and emissions nearly fine (lambada upper limit was 1.03, I got 1.04 , ideas?) and then it was just a dodgy steering rack was all that's left. Sailed through everything else.

Anybody have a scrapped steering rack for a 95 clio?

Some people are so easily impressed

I washed the car with a power hose, just a quick going over to get all the bugs off and it started beading up, got in the car and the newly acquired lady pickles noticed the water coming up the bonnet and not going down it, so upon knowing this her mind proceeds to be blown and now my cars called the anti gravity car :pac:

What give is there for speed camera vans? I've heard the 10% + 2mph but that sounds to good to be true.

Just wondering after meeting a camera there. I set the cruise to 103 which is in or just under 100. Got flashed before I meet it so I made sure I went 90 passed it Was there on the way home again. Think I saved the person behind me 2 points. :)

The vans confuse the f*ck out of me. Loads flash you before you meet them and everyone's right foot seems to get way heavier two miles down the road after encountering one .Not that I'm really complaining :D

So its a thursday, the beginning of my 10 days off work in about an hour. Its a lovely day out, so I reckon I shall spend it giving Olga the cleaning she deserves.

She really seems to attract the midges and flies, its like an insect cemetary on the front

The go$afe ones dont have a tolerance. If you are over you are over

The AGS normally give a 10%+2 kmh but this is discretion and not a rule.
