So any advice for a southern atheist driving from Dublin to Letterkeny late tonight. The usual Monaghan, Omagh, Strabane or should I take the long route Longford, Sligo etc?

But are you a Catholic atheist or Protestant atheist?

    Either way will be fine.

You missed the gays. Not particularly welcome either....and the Romanians and Roma gypsies.

Check out the bands with UVF banners singing UVF songs. Many have Combat 18 connections too.

Seriously, bring yer grannie down....she will love it.

How did you get to know that my granny is a sectarian homophobic racist biggot. :D

Happy 12th of July to my fellow Ulster Protestants. Enjoy the day tomorrow.

This is the digital version of marching through an estate where you're not welcome. The mods are the parades commission and have banned provocative digital parading through this territory.

    Lol. :D

Seriously enquiring - would the following people be welcomed at all by unionists at these rallies?

Americans (just about according to the VICE video posted)
    Italians
    Spanish
    South Americans
    Polish
    Chinese
    People of black origin

I ask because the 12th seems to be an insular, isolated celebration that the unionists hold that is really just giving themselves a pat on the back for being bigots. They are isolating themselves.

how can the orange order walk alongside them to incite more violence? this has to end !
its easy to say that its an underclass and mostly teenagers
its time the politicians and community leaders sorted this out once and for all.
the above video raises so many negative emotions for me , disgust , despair , sadness , anger , disbelief
how can the police just stand there and take that? why would the orange order walk aside those mongs?
fecking childish pantomime played out year after year

Yesterday evening, DUP MP Nigel Dodds was rendered unconscious after being struck in the head by a brick thrown by his own protesting constituents in north Belfast.

This photo, taken from the Independent, really captures the glory of the Orange Order and all they represent:

The orange order are a necessary evil. Without it, young people would be out causing trouble on the streets. We can't have that happening.

"Lawmaker Nigel Dodds was briefly hospitalized after being struck on the head with a brick or a bottle thrown at police, authorities said."

    Friendly fire, or collateral damage?

The knuckledraggers represent themselves so so well on the world stage

How do you know this eijit was in the OO?
How do you know it's representative?

There are many, many things wrong with the Orange Order (and its hangers-on), and I personally cannot fathom why they want to parade (or celebrate a 313 year old battle), but the vast majority of parades of are uncontentious and don't include semi-naked men being doused by water-cannon.

I'd like to get your opinion on this Gallag.

I'm not Gallag but if I may come up with a few excuses. I may be rusty here:

    • isolated incident
    • psni/nationalist aggression
    • blame the parades commission
    • essentially blame anyone you like except loyalists and Orangemen.

Why the hell do police have to put up with that. Why not bring back the rubber bullets.

I think they're using plastic bullets. I don't envy the position of PSNI officers tbh and I'd say a lot of them would love to be cracking skulls right now.

The RUC felt safe in Unionist areas back in the day because they were thought of as protectors of Unionists. Nowadays PSNI officers are at risk from Republican dissidents and Loyalist fundamentalists (more mental than fun).

I'd imagine they will be using video footage to make arrests in the next few weeks too.
