I tend to go straight into the missions and not really explore until I get stuck or bored. However, I'm now thinking I'll do the first mission and then forget about them for a while. Just seems like too much to explore.

Pretty much the same for me.

Do we unlock land or is it all open from the start?

I think we have to marry a farmers daughter to inherit any decent piece of land :)

I wonder will all buildings be destructable? And then they are fixed after a period of time? Or is it certain areas that are destructable?

Seeing as it was never mentioned then i'd say not.

Its interesting to point out that on an analysis video over on Gamespot, they felt that some of the gameplay footage was from PC suggesting it looked to good to be PS3. Particularly the point where Michael is walking towards the Ponsonbys clothes shop. I kind of agree...

And this is my least favorite part.

They said it was 100% done on a PS3.

I don't see anything in that screenshot of Ponsonbys to make me think it is not on PS3 like they said? Maybe I need to watch the trailer again and see it actually running.

Well I remember being in awe of some of the footage before GTA IV came out only to be slightly disappointed when I had it in front of me. I do recall reading some of the press reviews of the demo of GTAV shown earlier this year and some thought the graphics were just a little bit above GTAIV.

Having said that, GTA games were never going to push the boundaries graphics wise because of the scale of the game. With this latest one purported to be even more vast with a lot more going on I find it hard to believe they have/can improve on the graphics of GTA IV. To me some of the gameplay footage we just saw (and there wasn't as much as you would think) looked too sharp for me to be a PS3 footage. If it wasn't touched up, it was on a high end pc. May be I am wrong...

The graphics of San Andreas were on par with VC and GTA III maybe with maybe a slight refinement. They were also arguably already behind the potential of the PS2 at the time, due to the size of the map etc. I imagine it will be similar with GTAV in relation to IV.

IMO it seems they have just brightened the colour palette for GTAV compared to IV. Which I think is a good thing as IV could be depressingly dull at times.

If there's no improvement in graphics between IV and V, I won't be complaining. At this stage the graphics are grand enough, it's the gameplay and world that'll make the difference.

    animations > graphics

when it comes to big sandbox adventure games IMO.

Physics engines are really important too. Dodgy physics can ruin an otherwise good game!

If when I play the game on my PS3 it looks and runs the same as in the video, I'll be very impressed.

Suspicious lack of aliased edges, tearing and low FPS. I found Episodes from Liberty City completely unplayable on PS3. Only passable on a good PC.

The GTAV graphics look slightly more cartoonist which is good. Give me anti-aliasing and smooth FPS over textures any day!

I just pre ordered this, first time I've ever pre ordered anything, the gameplay trailer cinched it for me.

I couldn't give a stuff what the graphics are like, it just looks like immense fun to play :)

Only just got to pre-order this too. Had intentions to get it with hmv, but then I found out that the special edition is only available in gamestop and apparently they are running very low on overall pre-order stock.

Anyone wanting that particular version, dont hesitate and get your order in quick.

You have stupidly high standards if it was "unplayable" for you.

I think people who planned to trade in their ps3 to put money towards the ps4 on release are going to have to think again :D
Having the entire area unlocked from the start is brilliant, probably play it for a month without doing a single mission. According to wiki, "GTA V's world is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV combined"

I hope the in game radio is good. GTA Vice City and San Andreas had a great in game radio, I also liked GTA 3's too. But GTA IV's was kind've bland. Hoping to see some proper rock and metal music on it anyway.

Also what's so great about the special edition?

Just pre ordered in gamestop in limerick there, can I pay a bit towards it every week or do I pay it all at once in September?

Yeah I preordered with GameStop too, they said I could come in and pay bits off whenever I wanted.

What's the benefits of pre ordering?

The special version is 30 euros dearer, does that just include the hat and map and that?
