Word of warning to all. If you want reasonable mpg, do not let 166man drive your car.
This was after a 20 min spin around south dublin!

Is it the one that looks like an injector? And are you in a 156 that has hit a pothole?

    It's the engine management light.
Or as alfa like to put it motor contol system failure. :(

    Haven't hit any potholes either.
I think it could be the lamda sensor, or a crack in the concertina air duct just before the throttle body, that I couldn't see as she has a rough idle.
The throttle body is nice and clean.

Hopefully one of the alfa indys will be able to tell me some evening what the problem is!:)

Got offered two jobs in the past 24 hours after nearly a year of unemployment. Back to work on Monday! This means two things:

    1) My sanity will be soon restored

    2) A new motor will be purchased within the next month :D Something along these lines

Had ludicrous amounts of fun around Mondello today with Conzy, TouchingVirus and Veloce. Pretty sure I've boiled away half my brake fluid, and the smell of burnt rubber, pads and disks was immense, but by god was it worth it.

Had the GoPro mounted to the front of the car for a 25 minute free session, so hoping to get that up on YouTube sometime soon.

It was great craic OSI! That smell of burning pads is wonderful.

I'm glad the session ended when it did- apart from my brakes no longer working as they should I was getting too cocky for my liking....understeer here ...a bit of oversteer there.... :D

Dunlop was nearly the end of me at one point.

Navan or Navano? It's actually hotter here than that place in Africa! :pac: on a hill 100m above sea level and all :D

It's just like the Philippines here and I love it

    Right... ****!
I have enough money in my bank account so more than likely take this home but it would mean I'd probably have no money left until this day next week.
Saying that though, I couldn't even look at it until Tuesday at the earliest.

    Dilemmas...

go buy it, don't hesitate, its the right colour, the right roof and the right era. i love it.

sell the almera, get a few euro back in a week or two.

in fact, the almera alloys on the mazda would be really winning, are they the same fitment?

The same fitment alright, I'm really into this but I don't know.
    AAGH!

See I don't want to sell the Almera either. :/

It's just because it's my first car. (And I won't get a German Shepard in the back of an MX5)

    This needs some thinking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

you think you dont want to sell your current car... then you have your new car home and less that a day later you will be like, "what almera", "i never had an almera"... or thats how i am with a car anyway.

definitely do it if you can afford it. they are a cool little car and life is too short not to get what you want.

Just asked if I can view it Tuesday/Wednesday.
Can I be cheeky and ask if anyone can view it with me? Seeing as I don't know a lot about mechanics myself. :p

    Throw me a PM.

If it was just a normal car that you saw and liked we might say think it through etc. but you clearly really like mx5s as you talk about them alot ( I mean it in a good way) you have to get one. And tbh even if it doesn't work out and you hate it (highly unlikely) at least you can say you had one and it didnt work out. It would be terrible to look back and wish you had bought one and wondered what it would have been like.

I'd say if the car is straight and checks out go for it. Good idea too about bringing a fellow boardsie two eyes are better than one and they'll be looking at the car from the outside with no attachment to it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,729 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

Well, if I do get to see it and it is straight, I should well have it by this time next week. :D

Came across the same 132-G Kia for the 3rd time today in a week with the same space saver on the rear.

    The mind boggles
