bollocks, there's a very small group of people making life hell for the vast majority, act like a doormat expect to be treated like one.

I saw a statement on boards not too long ago that was "i'd rather die on my feet, than live on my knees".People need to get some balls and stop being afraid to stick up for themselves.

    It's not the 1940's anymore.

These people can seriously **** your life up, and that of your family, family pet, house and harass you nonstop. They have nothing to lose in many cases.

Not everyone can risk ruining their lives.

That said, some decent advice here about contacting counciller etc. Stay on the right side of the law at least.

I think they are a different breed altogether. I mean, you'd have to resort to braveheart or gladiator levels of violence to stop them. I went to school with some of them so i am speaking from experience. They literally will not stop what they do. It's at a cellular level.
So, what we do is poison their food. The cheap stuff that they all eat. Then we can all get on with our lives.

I'm not joking btw. No seriously, make sure i dont get into power cos thats what i'll do when i do!

Damn straight, another good thing would be to "taint" the water ...

Get onto your local councillors, they are discreet and can be brilliant. I had issues a few months ago and got some fantastic advice and support. A lot of them will come out and meet with you (and a couple of other neighbours if you want to get them in). They know how the system works and are a lot more accessible than TDs.

And you can't just have them kicked out and stuck in a hole somewhere in the arse end of Connemara, which would be ideal, but not exactly possible.

Sort out your own problems instead of dumping them on others, thanks.

There is a family of scumbags living in my estate, they are literally the biggest wasters you have ever met. They terrorise people on a daily basis, engage in all kinds of anti social behaviour, in the last few days I have been verbally abused and was threatened that I was going to be killed, my crime? I honestly have no idea. They have literally stated that they own the place and they can do whatever they like to who they like, the guards do nothing, it's almost like they are afraid or them as well.

They are recieving rent allowance, I know this for a fact, that means that the "taxpayer" are paying for them to live here making everyone else's life hell, I have not had it nearly as bad as others. People like this deserve nothing, I think everyone has a story about anti social behavior but this is gone beyond the joke, the PRTB is a long and tedious road and I am honestly a bit afraid to make a compliant because they will get me if they find out its me, which they will. Has anyone else had to deal with anything like this? Any kind of resolution.

There's only one solution to your problem, move. Start the process today and leave the problem after you.

The Gardai will not help you, TD's and councillors will not help you. You will aggravate the problem by reporting them.

Get out of that place and forget about it.

You won't confront them, you won't report them, and you won't move, so what do you expect to change?

Call your councillors and the gardai every single time something happens. Loud music? Report it. Littering? Report it. Death threats? Report the fck out of that. Make yourself such a nuisance to the cops that it's less hassle to deal with this family than listen to you any longer.

I have confronted them, when they told me they were going to kill me, I am a young woman going up against a group of men, I don't see what else I can do.

I will be going to a county councillor and a TD to see if anything can be done, hopefully they might put pressure on the gardai to get something done, I would have no problem ringing and reporting incidents to the guards if I though that there would actually be something done, they will come out, drive away and then I will have to deal with the backlash of it, I have to live here and you have no idea what it is like, I honestly can't afford to move at the moment but once things get sorted I will be more than happy to move.

Get out of that place and forget about it.

That's not sorting out the problem, that's just running away from it.

Nobody should be forced to move from their home and to incur the financial cost and mental stress involved.

As people have said OP, keep on at the local Councillors and TDs. These scumbags are just bullies so stand up for yourself like you have been doing and they'll hopefully be less inclined to pick at you or try and ignore them and they may eventually leave you alone once they see they don't get a rise from you.

There needs to be some kind of penalty system introduced for those people claiming or receiving benefits and who are involved in anti-social behaviour.

e.g. if complaints are made against someone and they still continue with their behaviour having being spoken to by a guard then their benefits should be temporarily reduced until they can behave like a decent human being. Act like kids get treated like kids.

Absolutely true that no one should be forced to move.

Reality though is entirely a different matter.

I get the feeling you don't quite understand the Irish scumbags mentality.

They're unafraid of the Gardai, who are usually unwilling/unable to do anything anyway. They hold grudges and aren't beyond committing criminal damage or intense mental harassment. We're not talking setting fire to your house, but small things like damaging your car, throwing a brick through the window, damaging other property, stealing bins, intimidation, name calling, spreading rumours, etc. Getting arrested, if it came to it, which it won't, is a badge of honour for many.

If you know any, go ask a few solicitors and barristers about these situations, see what they tell you. While you're at it ask them about their opinion on the Gardai in such situations.

"Running away", as you put it, is the fastest and best solution there is to this problem. If you find yourself in it, you'll understand the mental toll it takes. Your faith in your neighbours, faith in national institutions, and faith in right & wrong will suffer, because the truth in Ireland is, no one wants to get involved in someone elses problem.

So my advice still stands, move, ASAP, devote all your resources and energies to that goal until you reach it.

Best thing to do is play them at their own game . I had a people living next door to that had a party every Friday and Saturday night so we got very little sleep at weekends . So in the end we would leave the house about an hour or two after the party finished we would leave music blaring all day long so they got little or no sleep . After a month of this they moved out and rented a different place .

Only one way to sort this out and that is to hit the landlord in the pocket. Guards won't do anything. Don't try and appeal to the better nature of the scum as they more then likely do not have one.

    http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/landlord-fined-30k-for-tenants-actions-217217.html

Landmark case in link showing residents suing landlord and winning. Find out who owns the house and get the ball moving by ensuring that the landlord is paying his due tax. Then complain about damage and harassment to landlord. Find about 5 or 6 households who will make the complaint and get them all to stick with it. Hit the landlord where it hurts and they will deal with the scummers or pay the consequences.

If the scummers actions are illegal then you need to get a residents committee and then make the complaints to the Guards on behalf of the committee. Contact your community Guard and meet with them separately. don't Bother with the muppets who respond to the calls as they won't give a crap.

Most important of all do not give up. If we don't make demands on the state institutions that that there to defend and protect us and they are that inept then where does that leave us? Yes you're renting, all the more reason not to let them away with it. If the scummers ramp up their actions then they will only be providing ammunition and evidence that the landlord will have to pay for.

Short term pain = long term gain. At least its one family. Some estates are full of scum and there is no chance of dealing with it when its 12 or 14 year olds from loads of different families.

Don't go toe to toe with them unless you have to defend yourselves. Use your biggest advantage, your brain. Log everything, report everything and get as much evidence as you can and go after the landlord. You will be wasting your time with the scummers themselves as they have nothing to lose.

Why are people so passive these days?,get a group of "residents" to sort them out.

    because Irish people are pussys

no doubt the legion of ****tards who plague these threads will be on trying to convince you , that in fact YOU are the problem !!

Sure dont you know that every scum bag is just a poor soul whos daddy did not hug them enough , and mammy has a drinky poo problem , so they have licence to make others lives hell , we must nurture these individuals

give it time , they are coming , you can smell their self deluded posts winging there way here right now - god some might even invite you to work to show you the plight of these latter day wretches - oh the joy !!!

make sure you are in a public place , record them making threats on your life , bring it to the cops , THEY HAVE TO TAKE ACTION once a complaint is made,
after that if they as much blink at you , you will have the upper hand

fight fire with fire , its the only way , i am also surrounded by these wastes of skin , i tell you , its the only way

Tough sh*t. There are too many landlords who rent their property out to scum and refuse to take any sort of responsibility for them. Easy to do when you live far away and the money rolls in every week.

LOL. On top of this, they'll probably start blaming capitalism for the scumbag problem and encourage the tormented neighbours to vote for left-wing parties to help solve it.

    Lefties are softies.

It might be no harm setting up a cheap CCTV camera outside your front and back door. Also, if you intend to confront them again at least buy a dictaphone and have it recording in your pocket ( only 50 quid or so http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/6673527/art/olympus/vn-8500pc-dictaphone.html)

    Best of luck

your mobile phone will have a recorder , set it up that one touch will start recording , have it in your hand next time you they start on you , it wont look out of place to have your phone in your hand ,
and if its in a public place you dont need the scumbags permission to record them and can be used as evidence

i caught a scum bag landlord out using this method - worked a treat

There is the possibility that the scum will try to steal the phone. I find the recorder functions on most phones are poor and would need to be relatively close to the "subject" to pick up the conversation.

A cheap dictaphone will do the trick nicely, or if the phone has a decent voice recorder and are sure the scum wont try to snatch it out of your hand, use that :)

It's a horrible situation to be in OP, ordinary decent hardworking people having to put up with scumbags who never worked a day in their life and get everything for free because I'd hazzard a guess even Welfare Officals and the Council are afraid of them.

I'm sure someone will be along any minute to tell me how even just suggesting it is immoral, illegal and unethical but I wonder how long it's going to take before we get online organised flashmobs of concerned and reasonably incognito citizens coming around to these estates to 'bate the heads' of a few members of families like these.

If all the people on boards that have been affected by issues like these banded together to sort out eachother's issues you'd sort out a lot of problems.

Might even find a few volunteers along the way.

P.S. I'm NOT suggesting people use Boards.ie to organise something like this of course, even though I think it'd be a great idea I see how it could get Boards into lots of trouble.

    Maybe use Facebook :)

Fukk no. They would be torn to shreds immediately for attacking 'the most vulnerable'.
