What's the consensus on the Abstrakt range? I've tried any of them. Looking back on the list of previous ones some of them looked very interesting.

Picked up a variety of eight degree beers earlier, Kindred Spirit, Knockmealdown Porter, Sunburnt Irish Red and 2xHowling Gale (fast becoming my fave tipple). Almost finished the kindred spirit and am liking it, good roasted stout flavour with a nice hint of whiskey and @ 7% vol, a lovely kick to it too! Up next, Knockmealdown Porter :D

I stick mainly to stout/porter and this is the only abstrakt I've sampled.
It is a mid to full bodied imperial stout with light carbonation, reminds me of Old Engine Oil in the glass. Very small head. It has big, I repeat BIG aroma in a good way. Serious cherry smells and flavours. Excellent taste and nice mix of fruity and usual stout tastes of chocolate/coffee. It packs a punch with the alcohol content but not overpowering taste of alcohol. Wish I had a fridge full and some strong cheese to accompany!

Had the Sierra Nevada "Ruthless Rye" tonight, gives that sharp kick afterwards that many of the English ale's fail to deliver.

Kind of like a JW Black of IPA,if it makes sense.

Getting stuck into Sierra Nevada's "Torpedo" - Absolutely loving it.
All I need now is a suitable film to watch with it
    I have some inspiration...

    Still drinking the Quilmes.

Has anyone seen any Furstenburg recently? Tesco have stopped doing it.

Deschutes Inversion IPA well it was like drinking a forest an a herb garden. Major piney taste and herbal after taste.
Nice all the same because after the 1st sip I wasn't sure.

Bought a few coke can size of Brew Dog's Punk IPA in Molloys earlier on a €2.50 a pop to remind me of my glorious year being their neighbour in Edinburgh.Lovely stuff, pity they don't do a regular size can though.

Major life hack just reveiled. ;)

Third Street Brewhouse: Three Way Pale Ale : well the first sip was like drinking a lemsip for me. Thought there was something wrong. 2nd sip was lemon and loads of malt.
So looked up some beer review sites to see if I had a dodgy bottle, appears this is the correct taste.
Barely noticed the hops too. Didn't finish the bottle to be honest as just couldn't get into it.

How was the Dr Rudi Bazmo ?

What's the consensus on the Abstrakt range?
Abstrakt #2 was one of the best beers I've ever had. #3 was nice, #4 was the worst beer I've ever had(you can find it out there as "Dog A", had to throw it down the sink), #6 was pretty good, #8 was excellent, #10 was like Mikkeller Gypsy tears(not as good though), #11 was very good but have had better barley wines for cheaper.

Overall, was great to try them, but not worth the cost. If your in Dublin, the Celtic Whiskey shop have some of the older ones still.

Just opened a bottle of Franciscan Well coffee porter.
Lovely roasted coffee aroma and flavour.

Cheers ASJ. I'd love to try one or two but find it hard to pay so much on a pure punt. I'd imagine they're very hit or miss, and judging by your comments I've no reason to think otherwise.

The Dr. Rudi was really nice. From what I remember it was much nicer than the original. It has the atypical Belgian backbone but the Dr. Rudi hops are very interesting. The overriding taste was of fruity bubblegum (very similar to what you can get in some wines made from Gamay grapes) that was nicely balanced by a lingering bitterness. I'd definitely put it up there with one of the best Irish beers I've tried. I have their latest one to try later.

Just had my first taste of Trouble's Sabotage...

...you know where this is going.

Had the West Coast IPA by the Green Flash Brewing Co out of San Diego, not bad. I was recommended it in place of Ballast Point, seems to have a taste that reminds me of iron drops.
Also had Dubhe (pronounced Doobie), a black IPA by Uinta from Utah, this was very nice (9.2% though).

House guest is from Petaluma, so all of 20 minutes from the brewery, she bought it at the source.

    Ah some day......

Having a bottle of Oxman by the Brown Paper Bag Project. It's listed as a Brown Ale on the bottle, but in a blind tasting I'd find it hard to distinguish it from a really good strong stout. In fact, I'd say its extremely similar to Leann Follain but a tad less sweet and less carbonation....and obviously a different colour. Great beer.

Sorry for the massive picture but Redds apple beer. Lovely beer I had in Poland last year. Only found it recently in Ireland. Costs a bit at €2.59 or so a can.

Anyone ever have it or know where I can get it a bit cheaper in Dublin?

New Belgium Rampant Imperial IPA: after the first sip you get that dry grapefruit feeling on your tongue. Heavier hopped than the Ranger beer I had from them last year. I like it.
Madison River Hopper Pale Ale : I really liked this beer. Nicely hopped and slight sweetness too. Finishes off slightly dry but I think a nice session beer.

Its fairly widely available in SF. I had it on draught in Toronado. Bought it by the bottle in Healthy Spirits.
