Didn't the majority of the bannermen at Storm's End side with Stannis after Renly died?...I would assume it is under Lannister control now.

Unless they actually told us that Storms End was taken by the Lannisters I don't see why the Lannisters would be in control of it.

I think, so far as we know, the Tyrell/Lannister army has been hovering around KL since they broke the siege.

Can I ask where you got the scale from GBear? Have been paying more attention to the maps lately myself and haven't been able to find a scale.

Well the wall is 300 miles long. So you can broadly infer what everything else is from that.
So Westeros is about 6-9 lengths (measured roughly on the screen with my fingers) of the Wall from the Wall to the bottom of Dorne. So that's about 1800-2700 miles.

Yunkai is roughly the length of Westeros away from KL.

There is a wiki http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Deepwood_Motte which describes Deepwood Motte as approx 300 miles from Winterfell (it's the last paragraph of the "In the books" section).

A very rough measure makes that look about the same distance as the length of the wall on this map http://quartermaester.info/

300 miles is approx the distance from Edinburgh to Denmark or Norway and there was huge interaction (and invasions) between them in medieval times and earlier, so the narrow sea really is quite narrow and not a big obstacle to invading armies.

More an assumption on my part...Given Renly's death and Stannis fleeing to Draganstone it would have been left wothout a lord...given it's proximity to Kings Landing (or not now that I have a scale) I assumed the Lannisters would have taken control of it or given it to someone under their control.

Great scenes again between Arya and The Hound. The girl that plays Arya(Maisie Williams) really is a fantastic young actress. The scenes that Arya has with many characters(Jaqen, Tywin, The Hound etc.) are some of the most interesting and engaging in their respective episodes and the dynamics between these characters and Arya is excellent. She's fast becoming my favourite character, though from early on she was there or thereabouts.

Good to see Arya exact a little bit of revenge in this episode and The Hound backing her, particularly enjoyed the exchanges between them after they'd killed the soldiers! The Hound is all she has right now, I'm really interested to see where that storyline is going.

She is class alright. Eats the scenes that she is in. Best side story of the third season by far. I would have to say for a great series I have found season 3 has dragged a lot more than the first two. Still quality but it did not have the same zip as one and two. The fat crow and the girl, John Snow, the cripple travelling North all took up a lot of air time, perhaps could have been edited a bit better. I will still be looking forward to season 4 a lot though!

For anyone interested, theres a map with a scale here http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/File:WorldofIceandFire.png (taken from a wiki of ice and fire)It shows the whole world that the story is based in(a lot of unnecessary stuff really,as a lot of it is never seen or mentioned). Quick word of advice, don't go looking at that wiki as there's massive spoilers everywhere

I should probably rewatch a few episodes, but I'm unsure of something,

Why is bran so keen to go north of the wall?

Season 3 Episode 7 about 45:52 - Jojen Reed says to Osha: "Bran needs to find the raven beyond the wall". This is when they decide to change direction from Castle Black to north of the wall.

Bran believes the raven which is coming to him in his dreams is north of the wall and that he wants Bran to find him. I'm not sure why. Bran thinks he belongs north of the wall and that there is a reason he fell when scaling the wall in Winterfell. I think it's just an instinct from his visions drawing him north.

any chance cat got it on with some dodgy warg in retaliation for ned bumping uglies and creating jon snow?
It would mean bran isnt an heir to winterfell and throws another twist into the plot.

    's liege lord Ned Stark

I find those two kids that are travelling with Bran to be a real pain in the ass. In fact, I find the whole idea that Bran can read minds or control the actions of animals or whatever ridiculous. I know there are a lot of fantastical elements to the show, but that really annoys me more than the others, for some reason.

The Theon Greyjoy stuff was dragged out way too much. More time should have been given to Jamie and his voyage back to Kingslanding. Can't wait to see the reactions of Cersei and Tywin to his return, and I'm also interested to see how he'll treat Brienne now that he's back in his comfort zone and in the company of his sister and father.

I'm presuming that Bran's ghost story is a foreshadowing for Frey or the Boltons or both getting their comeuppance for ambushing the Starks.

I also think there's potential for Tyrion and Sansa to become quite a team. I think they may learn to really like each other and work together. Hopefully Joffrey doesn't get his hands on her in the meantime.

I think Marjorie may find herself in some level of trouble at some point. She's too clever for her own good. The way she's manipulating Joffrey and playing up to his sh*t in order to get an edge on him could backfire. Cersei sees what she's doing, and seems to be somewhat jealous of the fact that Joffrey seems so enamoured by her. I can see her meddling there.

The Dany storyline is a bit 'meh' for me. She's a likeable enough character, but the plot thread isn't really gripping me. She's having it way too easy at the moment. I'm assuming she'll run into serious trouble at some point. It's all a bit obvious at the moment, with the dragons getting stronger all the time. I also find that new guy that has joined up with her to be a bit of a creep. Something about him weirds me out.

    And Stannis is an idiot.

Care to explain this view? I think he's doing well. Were it not for Tyrion and the Wildfire he would most likely be sitting on the Iron Throne. He is the rightful heir to the 7 kingdoms. He has invested a lot of time in Lady Melissandre and in fairness her magic is pretty bad-ass, smoke assassins and king killing leeches etc. As far as one of the various Kings that we have seen taking on the Kings Landing recently he's doing better than Renly and Rob :pac:

That religious fanatic woman has him wrapped around her finger. He lives his life by her every whim. She's pulling more strings than he is.

Should we really believe that the red witch was responable for robb's death with the leeches. Ok the smoke baby thing was all her, but leeches thing having robb killed by frays/boltons etc seems different to what she is capable of. Walder Fray was seriously pissed with the starks before she did the leech burning.

Loved the scene with Ser Davos talking to Stannis' daughter and trying to read the letters. Thought it was great the way they linked him learning how to read the word "night", with the next letter he read about the "nights watch". It was a little detail but I felt it was done very well.

Im late to the party, Im after watching all 3 seasons in the last 2 weeks (some good TV!)

But one thing that actually bothered me about that scene, he pronunced "through" perfectly with no question of the g, then later questions the g in night, which where gh has the same sound ....

Im really nit picking .. :P

That was like me when we started doing algebra in maths. Adding letters? What the fûck like??? Although reading did save Davos' life in episode 10. I can't imagine algebra ever saving my life..
