In two hundred thousand years time some probe from a far away planet will be trawling these threads and think all we ever talked about was love, the dole, travellers, and jam.:(

Where would they get that idea?

Is this the case with you? I have been in a few relationships but nothing that I would consider love. They were still some great times though. Some people say they thought they were in love until they met someone else. A lot of people settle for someone too which obviously isn't love. Is it really needed to be happy?

I'm 27 and have never been in a formal relationship. Generally, I've been 'in love' with people who don't love me. People who claim to love me have been friends but nothing further. I wouldn't be the most conducive to the whole 'love' package, making the whole thing grind along fairly slowly and painfully. If I do remain alone, it would be a shame but id be the first to acknowledge how difficult I am on these things.

The first girl I thought I was in unrequited love with, my big romantic gesture was sticking a pound coin in her pencil case when she wasn't looking.:o

    is that a euphamism.....
She didn't even know who gave it to her, it was a pretty disastrous attempt at seduction alright. :pac:

.....and if so, there is a name for that you know, you sicken me

Na. straight up, that's what I did, I remember like it was yesterday, I always got a pound coin going to school for two sausage rolls and a wee carton of Kulana orange juice, and this one day I stuck it this girl's pencil case that I had a crush on, for some bizarre reason

Even remember the pencil case, it was one of those kinda hairy fluffy pink ones.

the thing is, which came first, songs/movies about love, or love itself :o

its like one of those manufactured words, like valentines day really :o

like has been said before, its more a teenage thing, when you hit a certain level of maturity chances are you just play the 'love of film' to convince yourself its the same feelings, but its not, cause you are not full of the crazy hormones of the teenage years.

maybe there is only unrequited love, but not love itself! the definition being its the not being able to have the person you want so badly, but if you do finally get your hands on that person after a while the love goes cause they arent going anywhere usually cause you WERE both in love with each other at the beginning [unrequited love] in the first place! but now that things become steady and safe the love fades, so you cant be in 'love' in a stable relationship! *rubs chin*

or to put it another way, unrequited love is much much stronger feelings than that of love itself

A man walks up to a girl at a the till in a shop. He puts his groceries on the belt and while she scans them through she keeps looking at him. He had one of everything, 1 pint of milk, 1tin of beans, 1apple, 1banana etc . He notices her looking at him and thinks "I'm in here" so he says to her I bet your wondering if I am single aren't you..... she replies nope I'm just thinking that your a very ugly bo@#$ cks:-):-):-):-)

But shouldn't everyone, man or woman strive to do the best that we can and end up with the most suitable partner?
You wouldn't buy a car that wasn't up to scratch, would you?

If it was cheap and a good ride I would!

Everyone's been in love, actually. YOUR MOTHER. YOUR FATHER. The template for your (and my) future loves comes from your relationship with your parent of the opposite sex, or same sex if you're... Quirky.

I've never been in love, and likewise nobody has ever been in love with me.

    What's it like?

I think some people say they're in love until they meet someone better and then say, "no wait... now im in love."

From what I realise, you know you're in love when you start doing lots of stupid and poorly thought out things which you only end up regretting later on...

Yeah but when you're in love both the frequency and magnitude of the stupid things increases significantly!
