Never been in love?

Is this the case with you? I have been in a few relationships but nothing that I would consider love. They were still some great times though. Some people say they thought they were in love until they met someone else. A lot of people settle for someone too which obviously isn't love. Is it really needed to be happy?

I don't think there is any universal formula for individual happiness. Some need the lover of others and some don't. But finding the personal ingredient that works for you, well that's the hard part.

Well I'm positively ancient compared to some of ye and I've only been in love twice with a 15 odd year gap between them. I've found people can vary quite a bit in the ability to fall in love. Some are slow bastids like myself, some fall in love many times in their lives. Oh and I'm not suggesting those people are only infatuated, I've known people who genuinely fall in love quite easily. Takes all kinds. That said I can only think of one person who never has(in their mid forties now), but that could change. I know another who was as the OP described and fell head over heels, the full moon in June, prancing like an idiot through meadows sniffing roses at 40, so you never know. :)

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

I'm in my early 30's now and have never been in love. Although as the old song goes "what is love? Baby don't hurt me " and all that malarky. Love can fade with some people and they can end up in unhappy relationships. And its certainly not discussed as much as sex. I wonder is it really sex that makes the world go round?

Once, a very strong dose of it too. Happend by accident with someone I was working and socialising with a lot. We were acting like such dopes in complete dreamland. :)

Don't think so - have had a few relationships, have many people I care deeply about (including some of those who were in those relationships) but I don't think I've ever experienced "romantic" love - I'm getting more and more skeptical such a thing really exists, as opposed to platonic love and/or what people convince themselves they are feeling towards one another

I was in love with a girl once, it was wonderful. The fact that she ate ass helped the situation a hell of a great deal too :o

If Irish women had a mantra..

But shouldn't everyone, man or woman strive to do the best that we can and end up with the most suitable partner?
You wouldn't buy a car that wasn't up to scratch, would you?

Ye cant beat a bit of unrequited teenage love....
Wallowing in your own self pity and longing. Obsessing to ridiculous levels. Brooding and smoldering darkly in corner hoping that he or she will notice you. Listening to angsty music that speaks directly to you, probably written with you in mind. Sobbing yourself to sleep.

Sure adult love and relationship are great but its nigh on impossible to recapture the bittersweet intensity of the emotions created by the raging hormones and naiveté of youth.

The first girl I thought I was in unrequited love with, my big romantic gesture was sticking a pound coin in her pencil case when she wasn't looking.:o

She didn't even know who gave it to her, it was a pretty disastrous attempt at seduction alright. :pac:

I think I have been, my ex who I'd happily murder most days and who fills me with an uncontrollable rage when I think about the dispicable things he's done and said to me over the years, but although I wish death on him anytime we end up talking, I don't think ill ever actually be able to hate him.

I thought I was in love twice.

I'm not so sure now, in hindsight. I'm beginning to think romantic love is all just hormones. It's sure sold a lot of songs and movies though!
