As a matter of interest, is the Kinsale pale ale available anywhere in the city at the moment? Venturing out to Kinsale just to try one drink isn't really an option and I'm very interested in trying it out.

They have it in carry out on bandon road. They've got a good range if Irish craft beers.

Yes, I didn't think it was worth the cost in comparison to the likes of O'Hara's.

Hmmm, sounds like a good excuse for a blind taste test...

Nogne Ø Citrus Hystrix IPA. Sublime stuff. Like biting into a super ripe piece of fruit and then downing a bag of hops. Strange colour for an IPA though.

    What colour was it?

Really murky orange reddish brown. Like burnt toffee.

I've had IPA's that are really dark before but I suppose this one caught me off guard a little.

Interesting colours. Nogne Ø do very good beers from what I have had so far.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever been disappointed by one of their beers, just the price is a killer.

Had a coffee-themed beer drinking experience last night: a bottle of Dark Star 'Espresso' followed by my final bottle of last winter's Dungarvan Coffee & Oatmeal Stout.

The Dark Star beer is impressive and full-on. Really intense flavour of ground coffee beans.

Dungarvan's effort was solid but not as good as their original (2011) coffee and oatmeal stout.

I've only just tasted Sam Adams. Shame because its a lovely beer.
While in the states last week I had a bottle of Arrogant Bastard ale. 7.2% and absolutely yum.

Had a pint of Alaskan Amber - Alaskan Brewing Co. last night.
I was sitting outside in the warm sun so this have made me mark this higher than I expected.

Lovely amber coloured beer and smelt a little sweet and slightly malty. Also not too carbonated.
Tasted malty and then a slight toffee/caramel taste then a nice tiny hop kick but nothing crazy.
Very easy to drink and in the nice summer weather went down very well.

I had a bottle of Stonewell Cider last night. The €6.50 price-tag was a bit of a shock, but the cider was fantastic.

Had a Rogue Hazelnut Brown Ale today, for the second time. Yep, still very nice.

Last time I had this I managed 3 swigs before I knocked it over. The only rogue beer iv really liked so far. I find all the rest of them taste the same, probably the Pacman yeast

I feel the same about them, although Dead Guy Ale is good, too. Nothing really special, mind you.

O'Hara's have launched barrel aged Leann Follain tonight in Brewey Corner in Kilkenny. Bottles only so far by the looks of it

Hopefully makes it to the off licences too, not sure when I'll be in Kilkenny next
