An auld drunk threatened me with a knife on the quay in Waterford a good few years ago. To be honest it was such a feeble attempt it hardly counted as a threat and I took a step or two back while he was jabbering on and then turned and walked home.

Pulled over by Hiace van load in of cops in Lagos a few years, remember at least four armed as they were poking at me with their firearms, insisting I must go in the vehicle with them for various BS reasons. Rather than end up a kidnap case suggested an appropriate donation, to one of their policeman's charities with who appeared to be the most senior of them, 20k local money (think about €70), real criminals are easier to deal with. Off they went on their way, to find some more white guys to harass. The joys of doing business in Africa.

Was walking along the Childer's road in Limerick, right across from Dunnes. I could hear a clacking sound of glass on metal, and then 2 kids care around the corner from some estate with half of a naggin they'd just smashed.

When I say kids I mean kids, they were 8-10 at most. Anyway one of them came up to me, pointed the naggin at me and said 'give me your money.' I told him I wouldn't, and his friend (younger by a year, maybe) was saying 'let's just go', but he said it again, and started making a throwing motion with his arm again and again, like he was practicing for a throw. So I roared at him and pretended to run at him. I ran a step or two, and the two of them took off down the road about 10 metres. When they turned around and saw I wasn't following, the older one threw the naggin at me, but it didn't get anywhere near me. Then they ran across the road through oncoming traffic to whatever criminal hotbed they came from.

Years ago, when I was about 16, I went to stay with my sister in Belfast (she was 19). Her boyfirend at the time lived in a squat, so that night after drinking a lot of booze we decided to vist him.

We were banging on the door of this squat shouting his name. A chinese guy (I think) started screaming at us "No (his name) here! F#ck off! F#ck off!" Anyway, we kept trying to get in cos we were drunk and eventaully yer man came out swinging one of those sticks with a chain attached and another stick at the end - sorry I don't know what they''re called - still screaming "F#ck off, f#ck off, he not here!".

Needless to say we had gone to the wrong house. We fairly legged it, I can tell you.

On honeymoon in Costa Rica we were between two minds to walk the 1km back to the hotel or get a taxi.
We walked and two little scuts pulled a gun on us.
One grabbed my wifes handbag. She wouldn't let go.
I - now in hindsight this wasn't the best move - heard a taxi coming and jumped into the road.
He swerved and avoided me and drove on.
The lad with the gun look at me as if I was nuts.
Then another taxi came and we ran off.

Thinking back its was nuts to not just hand over a wallet and handbag but there was no rational thought that went into our actions.

    My brother was stabbed once.
Long story short, his wound wasn't too bad and he healed, and his attacker did wake up from his coma, so the bro didn't get in trouble.

The first time 2 lads came at him with a knife, they ended up with double jointed elbows.

    That's me bro :).

(EDIT: I laugh now but when I first heard about my brother being stabbed I had nightmares for weeks.)

Does a mickey count as a weapon?

Only if it's wearing a helmet.

Some low life threatened myself and a friend with a hatchet once. He is known locally as a pussy who normally threatens with a weapon because without it, he would not have a chance, blows hot air but I guess one day he might go through with it.

Never actually threatened with a weapon but I was shot at a few times when I was 11/12. But it was only an air rifle and always just for a laugh.

A Knife at work but it was an idle threat. A guy in the shop I was working in threaten to put it in my gut.

Got hit with a hammer and threatened with it on a bus.

Regularly threatened with a lead pipe by a teacher. Once getting it waved right in front of my face

Had knives pulled on me several times back in the 80s and 90s, escaped unscathed, luckily.

Can I ask where you went to school?

Friend of mine used to work for a well know chain of stores in Ireland. The store he worked in was in a sh1t area of Dublin and was robbed a few times while he worked there. The last time, he had a syringe held to his throat. Head office took two weeks to call him after the incident and made him the very generous offer of a trip to the cinema for his troubles.

They're in the process of going out of business, thank god.

Just a few knifes and broken bottles, and an Italian cop with a shotgun, who didn't like me and a few mates singing Borussia Dortmund anthems.

Got bottled over the head repeatedly coming back from a 24hr garage locked late one night, a car pulled up in front of me 3 lads hopped out and started to accuse me of doing knick-knacks on their house. As I went to walk off one of them bottled the back of my head and 2-3 more times while I was down. Lucky as fùck it didn't break.

Knife, bottles, knuckle duster, 3 pistols and a sub machine gun. But the guns were all in one incident. No injuries thankfully.

I think I'd sh*t myself if someone threatened me with a syringe though. <shudder>

16 year old pulled a small box cutter type blade on me in a Dublin train station late at night. Ran after him as I was wearing good runners. He high tailed it but I caught up with him and kicked him between the leg so hard he was lifted off the floor screaming. Direct hit to the nuts. He was like a squealing little castrated pig.

I hate the flash of silver and it's like a red rag to a bull.

When I was about 7/8 ..I had a chair(o0)in supermacs lifted at me by some 15/16 year old... he was pissed I wouldn't give any sweets.

Was with a friend too..who was like "give it to him"..me,"no, the sweets were expensive" (childs logic... getting whacked by a chair so worth it if I got to keep my sweets :p)

He tried some pretend throws when he realized I wasn't budging nor even scared.. he gave up and walked away.
