Hit up atg with the missus today. I had

Sn torpedo - so good on tap, loses some of the bitterness of the bottle but keeps all the taste
SN ruthless rye - better in bottle
    SN blindfold - enjoyed this
Jaipur - both our favourite, hadn't had the bottle but this was gorg
Thornbridge APA - good but couldn't compete with Jaipur
    Seaforth on cask - meh
Buried at sea - liked this but lacked the sweetness and coffee profile of a milk stout
NZ voyager - undrinkable. The bitterness was overbearing, twas only after tasting I remembered the reviews on here.

She had her oul reliable blue moon and a pint of aspalls which was pretty tasty.

Had hoped to split a decent Belgian but they had nothing interesting

I was at The Lighthouse Cinema last night, and when I came out there was a guy handing out flyers for the new bar beside it, Oscars.

Free pints of Rebel Red, they also have Shandon Stout and Blue Moon on tap too.

They have O'Hara's Stout on tap, and bottles of O'Hara's Pale Ale, Red and Stout in bottles, which were €4 each last night, an excellent price. I also saw Ór and Hooker.

Only thing is, the bar staff were pretty amateur, which is infuriating.

Had a Delirium Nocturnum last night. Found it quite light for a dark beer thats 8.4%. Was too cold to make any other judgments on it. Will leave the next bottle out to warm up next time.

For some reason i thought you didnt know it was a milk stout but now i see you were saying it didnt live up to its billing as a milk stout

I think it is sweet and dont get coffee off it but ive never got coffee off other milk stouts, i dont think they are meant to have coffee tastes?

I tend to get a whack of coffee of them generally, the first time i had the left hand in atg my missus reckoned she could smell coffee of my breath

Mikkeller Årh Hvad. Wasn't sure on first taste but it got nicer as it warmed. Definitely see the Orval similarity but the original wins out me thinks.

I tried them backwards. Fell in love with Orval instantly, the other night.

I had a Buried at Sea and a Blindfold today in ATG.

Buried at Sea was nice alright - sweet, as a milk stout should be - but slightly lacking in body. I would recommend Left Hand over this and, although it's not the same style, I also think that Leann Folláin is a better bet.

Blindfold was also good - quite alcoholic, moderately hoppy, not that much bite, caramel notes. If it were a regular pale ale it would be quite unremarkable though.

I got a really nice present today of 8 bottles of beer from around the world..... Just had 2 bottles of Duvel to start the night off... Feet up & watch the Golf with a really relaxing buzz off them, possibly the finest Beer I've ever had.

Kentucky bourbon barrel ale is next.....

I&G is nice at the right temperature from a nice glass. Their Whiskey Stout is pretty good. Not into the Rum ones.

They're not good enough for the price, I don't think.

First taste of tremens, not as good as duvel

i always have mine with a short glass, like the 8 degrees or brew dog, not too cold, price is an issue alright, i took advantage of the 750ml being nearly half price from the drinkstore :)

Had a bottle Einstok Pale Ale & a bottle of Mikkeller Nelson Sauvin Single Hop IPA yesterday. The Einstok had a lovely mouthfeel and balnce of sweetness and bitterness but was lacking in the hops department. The Mikkeller was certainly not lacking in the hops, but I felt it was just a bit too thin, could've done with a bit more body imo.

Also had a bottle of Brew Dog Cocoa Psycho. Fantastic beer. One of the nicest Imperial Stouts I've had. The balance was spot on, and I loved the way it wasn't too sickly sweet. Sometimes I find that as soon as "chocolate" is added into the equation it becomes too much to take, but this was just perfect.

Forgot I also had Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro. Weird looking at it settling in the glass like a glass of Guinness. Unsurprisingly there was no real aroma off it, but it did taste extremely smooth with decent enough milky sweetness. Very quaffable.

I must get a bottle of this during the week.

I am back in North Dakota for 2 weeks but and was handed possibly one of the worst beers ever.

Michelob Pale Ale just tasted like malty water.

I had my first pint of this earlier. I haven't got a very discerning palette or anything, but I quite enjoyed it. I tried a few commercial lagers for the first time recently and I found them very bland. But the Hersbrucker had a little more to it. Can anyone recommend some similar products that I might enjoy? Thanks.

Hersbrucker is a bit too bitter for me, but if that's how you like your lagers, try Flensburger Pils or Jever. Even Pilsner Urquell is in that sort of zone if it's cold.

    Great, thanks!

And yeah, I do enjoy a bitter beer alright. So I guess that explains it.

I had two bottles of Mountain Man Green Bullet which were ok, not bad at all but I would go for 8 degrees instead.
Also tried a bottle of Kinsale pale ale, all hop no other flavours. Not for me.

As a matter of interest, is the Kinsale pale ale available anywhere in the city at the moment? Venturing out to Kinsale just to try one drink isn't really an option and I'm very interested in trying it out.
