    I think she was choking and it was an alternative frontal 'Heimlich manoeuvre'. Choking would also make you cry somewhat.

    She has packed a bag and left home.

    Bad enough she is abused let alone it being all over the media. Hope she is OK. I had something similar to me happen years ago. There is no going back after that, well for me there certainly wasn't. I hope she leaves the cowardly little pr*ck.

    Tbh, i don't think there's any doubt with these photos. Sure, the juries still out, but it does look like abuse, or the beginnings of it.

    Hope she gets away from him :(

    As appalling as those photos are I can't help thinking that the rag of a paper has actually done her a favour in terms of a massive divorce settlement in the event of a divorce. Pretty hard to talk your way out of those photos. I'm guessing the divorce lawyers will do very well out of this, if it goes that far of course.

    Is there really any other context in which you could view that photo other than someone being choked?

    Maybe I'm nuts, but there doesn't appear to be any pressure showing in fingers or neck and no mark at all, she also doesn't look upset, more unwell and in one of the photos he is looking up her nose.

    So checking her neck for swollen glands as she is ill? Seems less likely alright, but it's not a great effort at choking someone if that's what it is, possibly public part of worse abuse put of sight I guess though.

    First thing I thought when I saw the pics was that it looked like he was checking her glands, then when I saw the one of him picking her nose, it just kind of made my mind up more. It did not look threatening, in one picture she is looking at him really lovingly... Maybe I am mad though!!

    That's not easy to look at... If the pictures are evidence of a crime- as they seem to be- then they should have been given to law enforcement, not published for the world to gawp at and judge. This is not in the public interest, it's a moment of someone else's suffering put on display for profit without their consent, under the weak guise of "exposing" something. The People is a vile rag that should go the way of the News of the World.

    It could be abuse and it could be nothing. If there was abuse the prick taking photos should call the police and if it wasn't they shouldn't print the photos. But most important, why would anybody read tabloids?

    You would think if it is innocent checking of sore throat they would have rattled out a press statement as soon as the story came out. Can't stand her or Saatchi, shame for the kids though.

    By the looks of it, it's probably something her 17 year old has seen many times at home.

    That woman looks absolutely distraught in the photos of her going to her car.

    While it's possible he was checking for sore glands while she sits afraid and helpless, I think it's somewhat less likely than him being an utter bastard who is abusing his wife in public, not caring who sees.

    Poor Nigella. As for the insinuation she staged the thing to have something in her favour during a divorce...sure. Devious cow making her husband choke her publicly like that.

    No, I wasn't suggesting that she knew about the cameras, I'm just saying that if there were ever a time to have the press invade her privacy she could do worse than those images. This is of course only true if they divorce and don't in fact issue some sort of press statement denying any rift in their marriage and stating that the pics were faked/misinterpreted/kinky foreplay
