When does it return to Portlaoise? I'm assuming it'll stay in Waterford tonight?

Would be surprised if it returns from Waterford tonight as they have very few gaps this evening to run it without causing problems.

That's odd. As part of this repaint and overhaul are they not supposed to get new rebuilt cabs. Didn't think 088 was missing long enough for that. Would have though 078 was next out seeing how long it's been in.

    No word on 087 returning?

087 was in the worst condition of the orange 071s when it went in for overhaul. Lots of rust around the cab windows and doors, very badly corroded. I reckon it's a safe bet to see 078 back out long before 087 makes a return.

088 is done and dusted, logo just to be applied. Cabs done!

071 never got it's cab logos like 077, lets see if 088 gets them.

Or will 071 become the new 075 with no cab logos for it's freight livery.

Just looking on IRN, the last reported working of 088 was 31/1/13 on a timber train. 078 was reported in Inchicore along with 077 on the 26/2/13 in the slate livery and still no sign of 078 returning yet 088 got done in less than 5 months.

If they come back at all(078,087) ...that's what im beginning to think....088 must of been in fairly good condition. the likes of 072 and 073 need jobs done badly, cabs in poor condition.

Not so sure about that - from looking at the locos there is a lot of re panelling work going on. Not every loco that got the silver loco got a body overhaul either

On the freight livery 071s, I think only 12 of the 14 that got the repaint, got engine overhauls but nothing done externally. 2 were just painted and sent back out. I was of the impression that this overhaul program will include extensive overhaul to all the of class members internally and externally to keep them going as long as possible. Before the 2006 overhaul program the plan at the time was to keep 12 in the long term and withdraw the 6 in the worst condition for fleet spares.

Just saw the new livery for the 071 and thankfully that disastrous logo is looking better in monotone than it does in colour.

An 071 in new livery just ran light through Sallins for Newbridge. Possibly 077 as it appeared to have the IE logo on the cab sides. Is there just the 2 of them out in the new colours?
