Howdy, anybody know where i could lay my hands on any of the Lagunitas beers? Or Any of the Stone Brewery beers?

Im based in D7, have been in to drink store but didnt see any.

Neither are imported to Ireland. In fact, I don't think either have an official export channel at all: it's anathema to Stone's freshness ethos. You may find some grey market bottles in the likes of Utobeer in London or Bierkoning in Amsterdam, but to get them as the brewer intended you'll need to go to California.

    Good a reason as any...

Cheers, for the info, tis a shame. I was in the states recently and had the chance to drink a few of the lagunitas range and a stone brewing co. IPA.

They were all delicious, superior imo to most of the american imports i had seen here..........

Well, part of that is going to be a distance thing. Drink local. There's some great stuff coming from the more progressive UK breweries at the moment -- Moor, Oakham, Thornbridge, BrewDog, Fyne...

Lagunitas were extensively available in New Zealand when I lived there, amazingly enough.

Ah i know, in fact my mother lives a couple of miles from the fyne brewery, she comes over every now and again on the ferry with a boot load for me (micro casks:p). But i really enjoyed the beers i mentioned and just assumed they could be had somewhere here, seeing as you can get stuff like red hook/sierra/anchor these days.

Been drinking a Polish beer called Łomza (pronounced Womzja) the last few weeks. The offy in my local Spar sells 3 500ml bottles for €5 or a box of 20 bottles for €30. Really good value and a lovely beer. It comes in 3 varieties, non-pasteurised, unfiltered and regular. The unfiltered is my personal fave, sweet with a nice taste of hops, it's light but packs a decent punch @ 5.7% vol.

Got introduced to Howling Gale last weekend, nice beer and cheap too! It disappears quickly whenever it's in Tesco and at €3 for 6 330ml bottles I can see why :D

Had Metalman Pale Ale earlier. Nice tangy citrus and refreshing fruity flavour with a somewhat floral aroma. Not much head on the beer or carbonation but quite a refreshing beverage.

Had this recently in Mulligans, now my pint of choice when its hot out:)

I had a bottle of the Stone Brewing Ruination in the Brewdog Bar in Manchester last year. Didn't really explore what other beers that they had though.

I had Stone Bourbon Barrel Smoked Porter on tap. Hit me right in the cheeks, it was beautiful.

Had the Ruination, Arrogant Bastard and Imperial Russian so far. They kinda puts the infant Irish craft scene in perspective. Hope we can buy beer of that quality fresh one day.

I am drinking a Dungarvan 'Copper Coast' Red. Absolutely lovely.

Dunno if it's the fact that I was really looking forward to my Friday beer, or if it's just deadly beer anyway, or both, but I sure as hell am enjoying it!

Having a Sanda Black now, wanted to try the blonde too but they were all out, promotes itself as being between a dark beer and a stout, pretty much somes it up

Had a punk ipa on draught in Oscars this evening for €5.90. Absolutely delicious.

Delirium Tremens for the first time. Really nice, but I can't get away from it seeming like a Hoegarden after a week in bootcamp. Hides the alcohol well though.

sandra ipa isnt up to much tbh, just a nicely hopped blonde ale but for the price at 330ml its defo not worth it. i have the black ipa in the fridge as well but havent tasted.

Was in there myself and had a pint of the same. I got chatting to the barkeep in there and he told me what price they buy a keg of the brewdog stuff for. Needless to say they be gouging us.

They ran out of metalman so I had a pint of howling gale, I do my best to support Irish brewers where possible but 'wasn't great.

Is that the chocolate stout? If so I agree. Problem being, I went in there with a chap from work, who's not into craft beer, loved the chocolate stout but was aghast at paying 5.50 a pint when he's used to paying 4.50.

The Galway bay crew are slick publicans, but their prices are way out of goose and the less said about their brewing operation the better.

yeah its the choc. i see the extra money as an payment for a better atmosphere etc darts and board games a plus also. still its a bit priceier than id like

Maybe because I drink both a bit, I notice a gulf in quality, anyway. Delirium's one of my favourite.

Tried my first Orval tonight. The Mikkeller tribute thing did it no justice, it's much less bitter and is far nicer.

Had to quit halfway through my second beer of the night, Shepherd Neame 1698 Kentish ale. Strong taste of hay or something, some nice fruity flavours in there, bu the taste was too thin. I really wasn't enjoying it, so I'm having a red Chimay instead.

Yeah like I say they are definitely pleasant places to spend a few hours, I've been in all their bars in dublin and a couple of their bars in galway, fact remains they are selling some of their house brews for pretty high prices. You or I might pay it but it kind of leaves a sour taste for casual drinkers. Like my local sells 5am saint for 6e even, which is pricey enough, but the black sheep have it at 6:50, seemingly because they can. My local is a small operation, whereas the Galway bay guys must have nearly a dozen bars at this stage. Obviously they can extract a better price from brewdog, yet they charge more at the bar..... Like I say, unnecessary gouging.

The Galway Bay house beers are reasonably priced if you use the loyalty card.

Finally got to try the left hand milk stout this evening. Lads wow, this was great.
Not sure which one I prefer between the mikkeller milk stout and this, i would probably need to taste them together.
Also had a raging bitch which was nice and hoppy and their own buried at sea.

Id agree on the prices thing that theyre charging. Nice pub and nice beers, but there's alternatives selling equally nice beers in nice pubs at a lower price.
Yes I'll probably be back but it won become a regular place!:(

    What's the deal?
One free pint with seven purchases?
    Well WOOPEE!
(Also Bear-in mind the super normal profits they have with vertical integration)

    With ten.

So €4.59 doesn't count as a reasonable price for a pint for you. Fair enough, but there aren't many places doing pale ale for that around Dublin.

If you'll bear in mind that this makes no difference to the amount the customer pays.

I tried the new O'Hara's Helles in Bull and Castle last night. It's very good. I expected to be disappointed but it has a very rich flavour.
