Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Support the feed by listening as often as possible, leave it running in the background if you want, it uses very little of your computer resources:cool:

All advise / comments welcomed. Newbie feeder here.

    Check it out at http://www.liveatc.net/search/?icao=eidw

pm me if you ever find the feed to be down /off air as i get a email notification of that and can sort it asap.

    Thanks.
    Pat

excellent work mech 1, gonna listen in now. It is really appreciated from us fanatics living in the midlands that are unable to get a proper feed on the scanner. Thanks again.

I got a reply from liveatc to my recent email,
for those that didnt see what I asked:

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hi Dave, The EIDW feed seems to be working well, always in the top 50 and usually in the top ten!

Anyway a question for you, I want to cover a couple of airshows taking place in the Dublin area this summer, but think I would need permission from the relevant authorities to feed EIME transmissions as it’s a Irish military airbase. Shows are http://www.flightfest.ie/ and http://www.brayairdisplay.com/ I would expect many aircraft would be using the EIME freq on those days.

    Relevant links to this airport.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casement_Aerodrome
    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Casem...0841378620000#

Can you, as in your company, request permission from them to run this feed on those dates? Or how do we go about this? I recommend "The Air Corps Press Office" as listed in the contact section of http://www.military.ie/air-corps

    Thanks,
    Pat.

    reply was:

    Hi Pat-

Running well indeed. I could contact "The Air Corps Press Office" but past experience with requests like these have ended with a typical "no"
answer. Furthermore, they may ask details about how the streams are being captured, and I am not keen about revealing your name or contact information to them. The downsides, to me, far outweigh the upside.

    Further thoughts/concerns on your end?

    Dave

Are the Irish Aer Corp dreaming that they are a super power or something, thats a bit rich for an organisation who do not even have the capability to shoot a pea from one of their planes.
They should really remember that their task in little Ireland is flying Gardai, politicians and unfortunate patients. Oh and training future EI and FR pilots.

So we made Number 1 with that little event just now, 72 listeners at one point.

ABR427J reported smell of smoke at rear of cabin, landed safely, all other approaching flights put into holding patterns.

    Landed safely.

Damit, I was listening all morning, but switched off earlier for the radio.... :( trust me to miss the good bits!

Btw, what was Airforce01 earlier on?

But they haven't actually asked them! :)

It's just from their experience air bases naturally tend to say no and Pat doesn't want to fight for it and I agree, if they say no then there's no point trying to fight for it. But I think there's a small chance IAC might say yes..for reasons you mentioned.

Is there an app for iphone/iPad?
Is flight radar the best app for watching the air traffic or is there something that will show all flights like helicopters etc?

If you add a pre amp it may reduce some static on some of the freq :) other than that its crystal clear.

The reception does seem to be a bit up and down on a couple of freq. 121.100 approach and 118.600 tower.

When im putting up the D-777 hopefully this week coming all coax connections etc will be tested / replaced if ness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

Im finding the reception on those freq improves when I turn the scanner attenuator on for those channels.

I plugged in a different scanner 15 min ago, no better, so back to the 780xlt now.

Just listening in tonight and noticing how good the feed quality is, seems much better than a few days ago! Well done mech1 keep up the good work!

Adding in Aldergrove radar / approach now to see if we could copy Airforce 1 in the morning
If you here Aldergrove flights let me know Im not in position to listen atm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

Aldergrove is now in the feed for checking if we copy anything, Prob not.

AFAIK The UK prohibits the re broadcast of any ATC. Just look at LiveATC.net there are no UK airports on it. I would just hate to see a good bloke walking into trouble, i know its not exactly terrorism.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

What PSNI guy can inforce UK rules here? Out of the jurisdiction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

Liveatc dont accept feeders living in the UK

  • Registered Users Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Shamrock231

I don't think they can enforce that down here, we allow it here and Mech1 is obeying Irish Law in Ireland, I don't think there's an issue there... Important to remember though that it's not allowed in the UK, but if you're based in Dublin then you're fine under Irish law.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

Bit of a non-runner anyway, I followed a easyjet flight as far North as Lisburn tonight then lost coverage. There are mountains in the way.

I can hear ryanair etc from South Wales as its a clear line of sight.

I could probably hear airborne transmissions if I stuck to the radar freq with no squelch, but we then lose the Dublin stuff.

Great job Mech1...really appreciate the feed!

Well I got the D-777 ordered along with 2 new pl259 coax connectors today. Just under €100 including shipping.

Hope to have it here by Thursday so should be installed before the weekend, weather dependent of course.

It's supposed to be the best Airband antenna available in a affordable price bracket, we will see! Lots of people here to access the performance of it.

Thanks again to everyone for tuning in, it makes the whole effort worthwhile.

Comments good or bad are very welcome as it confirms people are interested, and keeps ME interested.

    Pat.

Tonight im increasing the delay period on the main frequencies, 4 seconds from 2, in order to make it more "followable" for people not used to scanners.

Does anyone know of any good online resources that explain ATC communications fully? I'm guessing some things and googling others

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

Write a list of sentences you dont understand and post them here, I recon you would get answers quickly.
I was in the same situ not so long ago, but over time copped on to most, I would also be interested in reading your answers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

Any thoughts on improving the feed ?

Did the delay on freq extension help?

Do we cover too many freq? If so what do we drop?

Any volume problems? I can adjust if too high/low.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,863 ✭✭✭✭crosstownk

I think 2 secs is good enough.

I'm not in favour of adding Aldergrove as your feed is for EIDW although the G8 thing is a once off.

From my personal point of of view I'd remove the ops frequencies and stick with ATC but that's just my 2c and maybe others might disagree.

Your feed is excellent but be careful not to have too many frequencies as it will make listening disjointed. Dublin/Approach/Tower/Gnd is good enough for me.

It'd be great if others would voice their opinion so we could all have a consensus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,729 ✭✭✭martinsvi

I completely agree with crosstownk, many frequencies in one feed makes listening exhausting
