    Well done Microsoft.

Really makes you wonder how much money MS shoved under CD Project Red's nose to make the show Witcher 3 with them. They're one of the most anti-DRM companies out there and they're from Poland where the Xbox One won't even work!

Last time i ever go to gamestop again.

Went to pick up the last of us and the manager behind the counter says have you anything to trade in and i said as usual no.
Then he goes off at me about you could of bought the last of us for a tenner if i traded in my games and i said i dont trade in my games because i like to keep them and i like to have a collection of games and he had the nerve to say back at me well i like money.

I left that place and even though i was foolish enough to over pay a extra fiver for the game i also had to listen to him say would i spend a extra 20 quid on a season pass.

    In the end **** gamestop

Oh yeah. Had them try and tell me how great value the season pass was.

I told them I hate playing online and they asked if I liked the Uncharted multiplayer and I said I hated the Uncharted games and they seemed a bit aghast at that.

In fairness the Uncharted Series is pretty special even if the third one was a little off IMO. Its a bit like saying you don't like Ice cream. :D You do like Ice Cream.... don't you?

Never heard of OUYA. Read a very small amount about it there a minute ago.

Does it give you retro games? or controllers? My initial view of it is its nothing like the retron 5.

The retron 5 does tick a lot of boxes for me though I think.

The arguement of surely you wouldnt want the carts or controllers if space is a problem not true for me anyway.

I would like the carts and would far rather play with the original controllers.

I would also rather the consoles as well but fitting it under the telly which is where I would want it is just a hassle.

With the retron 5 it gives me loads of consoles and all I need is a controller for each which can be unravelled each time I change to a different console game. Games are stored in boxes or on the wall or wherever.

Anyway the more I think about it the more I'm sold on it for my situation.

Does anyone know where it'll be out or where I might get it? It might not get a European release I assume.

Tried playing the first 2... found them incredibly tiresome. Just shooting wave after wave of guys endlessly in the first one and horrible stealth bits in the second one.

Hoping the Last of Us is an improvement.

Given how open source OUYA is, I'd imagine usb--->controller adapters will appear at some stage. In that case, the OUYA will do everything a Retron will do, & then some, all in a neater, smaller box. Besides, I can't help but wonder why using an original controller is of concern to anyone who is happy to play such retro games in 16:9 over hdmi on big screens

The second Uncharted was brilliant I thought, 3rd one not so much.. They're action-shooters so shooting wave after wave of bad guys is kinda to be expected :)

Ya looking forward to Last Of Us - might even buy in from new, all shiny like..

Ah no the first two were all about leaping and jumping about the place whilst murdering hundreds upon hundreds of filthy pirates as you hang off of ancient ruins and the like. AND there was a rolicking adventure story and you got the girl at the end of it.

then they phequed up the Shooting in the Third one and it sucked.

infairness not every game is for everyone, I have zero interest in the Call of Honour type FPSes, they simply leave me cold, I'm sure the GS staff would have had a similar reaction if I told them that.

The manager of the Galway branch is an arrogant dude! Never liked him myself. He always makes me feel like I'm doing him a great injustice by keeping the games I've bought.

Actually it comes with its own controller, you don't even physically need the original controllers. You can use them if you buy them or have them.

They both offer something in terms of convenience, I just think the OUYA has much better potential, is neater, & those Retron products have been very flaky in the past.

Isn't there supposed to be really bad lag between the controller and console though?

Didn't know Smyths had discontinued their loyalty card system :( Still cheaper than GameStop though :pac:

Looking forward to giving Last of Us a whirl later.

Last of Us is pretty good. But suffers from the same problem I had with Bioshock Infinite. Good story and lovely world hampered by tiresome combat sections.

Story > Explore > Story > Obvious arena with lots of cover for tiresome stealth/combat > story > explore > story

And coming off the back of playing Dark Souls, the combat feels so terrible.

(In other news, Man of Steel sucks!)

I partially agree so far - it can be annoying suddenly seeing an area with lots of low cover and having no doubts about what's coming next.

That said, I'm only an hour or two in, and having passed the first major encounters with 'the clickers', I have to admit that that element of the combat system is incredibly tense and gives you a general sense that you're outnumbered, desperate and underpowered. There are a few weird inconsistencies though, like how they somehow don't hear you violently strangle or shiv their companions. Still, while it's a tad more interesting than your average combat system, it marks yet another case of a combat system being given undue prominence.

Naughty Dog do have an absolutely unique knack for character development and credible interaction though. Really emphasises how poor most game scripts and acting are.

(and yes, Man of Steel is an abomination)

I have to say, while the story is fairly standard stuff so far, the way it puts you right in there in the story is done very well and done in a way that couldn't be done with cinema. You can tell they've been paying attention a lot to what other games have been doing and really fine tuned it so it all flows more naturally than you'd normally be accustomed to in a game. A mistake a lot of these big AAA titles make is trying to be a movie, when they can actually be so much more by using the their medium to their advantage.

It really is a good step forward for gaming in those terms.

Went to see Man of Steel last night.
Lots I liked, but the intrusion of the battle scenes was unpleasant.
I watched Supe's agonise over the deaths of single individuals while his antics with Van Alden must have killed hundreds, if not thousands.
I liked the Kryptonian tech, and Krypton itself, reminded me of the world in Dancers at the End of Time, by Michael Moorcock.
But it'll be interesting to see the next one, apparently it'll be the gateway drug to the expanded DC cinematic universe, including new Batman and Justice League.

I nearly bought The Last of Us, but there are so many games in the collection right now, begging to be played, and even finished!
I see Uncharted 3 is now available on the Instant Game Collection on PSN+ for a start.
Also, Shienryu is on PSone, downloadable to the PSP and Vita, I'm interested to see if they translated the Tate mode as well and if it's playable on the Vita that way.

The Krpythonan tech seemed to be based on those pin impression toys you'd get in gadget shops in the 80s
