    In fairness, they probably can't afford a babysitter since they are effectively keeping the publican trade afloat with all the taytos and lemonade they are buying ;)

    No you cant. You are a dog owner and are therefore incapable of cognitive thought never mind compromise. Now take your smelly flea-infested drooling canine and out to the beer garden with both of you so these poor children in here can get some sleep. They've had a long day running around annoying all the adults and are completely strung out from all the TK lemonade.

    Pubs aren't suitable places for kids.

    Fine to go for a Sunday lunch in a gastropub, have a child in a highchair while they eat and then leave when finished. Not OK to come to a pub at 11.30am on a Sunday morning under the guise of a family Sunday meal out only to have the polluted parents still sitting there like drunken chavs at 9 at night while their little darlings are running around the place high on fizzy drinks and causing a nuisance.

    As I said earlier, my dog is clean, does not drool, and for the record, he is house trained, and has never ever shat or pissed in any house since we have had him.     On that note, dogs can be treated well, and quite frankly, anyone who treats their dog like a child is not a responsible dog owner, you can still give a dog lots of love, but you still need to remember, there is a different mentality to owning a dog and parenting a child.

I said I bring my dog to two pubs that I regularly go to. However, the hyper kids problem is an issue in all pubs.

    Dog Sh*t is the bane of my life (not dogs, love the things), my area is covered in it. The amount of times me, the wife or kids have walked in it, just makes me sick (and yes we do look where we are going, but u step in it dodging it):mad:.

    Anyway, dogs are not the issue here. Thing is, childern are a fact of life, otherwise you would not be here :P. There is always a happy medium, Some pubs cater for the family trade, and others dont. Customer is king, give your hard earned cash to the pubs who cater more for the people who like the bit of peace and quiet - i know i do :D.

    Well, you got 2 out of three right, well done! But I am far from lonely and bitter. I just think a place, such as a pub, should be for adults exclusively. It is quite simple. I do not think a pub is an appropriate place to have a child if you were a responsible adult.

    I personally am wondering if you are actually of age to legally drink in a pub with comments such as "probably fat and lonely and bitter", let alone your apparent skills at the English language. If you are, **** me you need some help. Anyway, thought you weren't going to argue with me anymore? Did my last post touch a nerve?

    Yea, see, responsible dog owners pick up the crap, well, if my dog is in a long grassy field (i.e. where it is not an area where people walk/children play) its fine, but anywhere that looks like it is a likely candidate for a play area for kids or walkers, then of course I pick it up. I know what you mean, I picked up a stick yesterday to throw it for my dog, and yep.............. "hand o' ****" is what I got for it....

    And I agree, there can be a happy medium, hence, I have said I would happily agree to banning kids from "bars" when the pub has a lounge or from pubs which don't serve food, I think that is fair.

    Like last Saturday, I was outside the pub, sitting down, having a few smokes and pints, kids all over the place splashing water from the pond about, running around screaming playing "catch", eventually one of them fell, smacked their head against my table, spilling 3 drinks.     Well, it is not about winning. It is my opinion, and as you can see from one posters post, I agreed to a compromise.

    But I have to say, I love the comments about my weight and other insinuative statements, it just shows your mental age, and right here in front of everyone, you have just made a massive cock of yourself.

    Not a single brat in either of the pubs last night. Unfortunately, the owner of one of the pubs brought her labrador into the other pub and it wouldn't shut up barking :D:rolleyes:

    And I'm not bitter myself, more of a mild man. Or a pint of plain.

    Well, just like kids, if the dog cannot sit down and relax, it shouldn't have been brought to the pub. Ok, well, its the owner, so you ain't really going to get anywhere telling him to bring the dog home, but had it have been a customer, damn sure the dog+owner would have been given the boot. The same should go for the kids.

    Its important to point out the fact that, alot of pubs aim for the family trade at the weekends. Parents who bring their childern to pubs generate revenue - Therefore, Publicans will provide a service that creates revenue.

    Its all well and good saying kids should be banned, but the simple fact is - they wont be. Pubs are struggling these days, and people who brings the kids to the pubs at the weekend provide much needed revenue. Some pubs actually depend on the weekend trade to see them through.

    You have the choice to spend money where you see fit, parents generally go to places that are specifically targeted at them. So in asking for kids to be banned, you asking a publican that aims at the family trade to effectively close his buisness - you wont be drinking in a bar when it goes out of buisness!

    No no, origionally I said ban them from pubs,

    But with the good suggestion of another poster I have said I would be happy with banning them from pubs that do not serve food, and for those that do which have a "bar" and "lounge", the kids should be banned from the bars.

    Does that not seem fair?

    It's like this, the owner of another pub (both Fuller's) used to be manager of the first pub and still pops in (they are 5 mins max away from each other) because she has mates there. Myself and my my mates decamped to her pub a bit later - she was there but the dog was nowhere to be seen. I kind of thought maybe her regulars might not put up with it? There's plenty of regulars in the first pub who bring their dogs in and they are well behaved.

    Pity they can't do the same for the mewling, screeching mini-humanoids that run amok on any other day :mad:

    Indeed, it is actually quite funny really, if a group of adults started running around screaming and shouting, guaranteed they would be kicked out if they didn't settle down after being told. Too bad the same doesn't apply to kids.
