Metalman pale ale for me tonight. Needed a fix. Never disappoints me.

Also had a cider from MacIvors medium Cider. I generally don't like them but found this light enough. 1 was enough for me.

On the Eight Degrees, started with the Howling Gale Ale, on the Porter now. Very impressed. Do they do it in bigger bottles? Going to wash them down with a Fullers IPA.

No I think these are the only sizes they do. They are rather good! I had one of their Sunburnt Irish Red recently, appropriate for the week just past. It was gorgeous.

Hopus, strong Belgian hoppy ale. Comes in a funny little swingtop bottle. It's very very tasty, I have to say. Tastes like a hoppier Duvel. Pours a huge creamy head. I'd definitely buy it agin. I Have a Chimay blue lined up for after, happy days.

Duvel are doing a Tripel Hop (Sorachi Ace) this year, has anyone had a taste? Impossible to find here in France.

This was recommended to me so decided to give it a shot.

    Duvel, Triple Hop 2013
    . 9.5% Vol.

Big foamy head that disappears quickly. Golden cloudy colour.Seemed gassy on the pour but settles nicely. Tastes like regular Duvel with added tanginess, nice and refreshing with only a hint of an after taste. Citrus, hops and yeasty. It's nice.

I would probably not drink a lot of it due to the high Vol.

    7/10

I can't get four bottles of any craft for that over here, madness

Most indigenous beers are between 0.80 and €1.40 per bottle from supermarkets.

I'll really miss it when I leave.

I went back to drinking beer there over the weekend, after a few months off the stuff. So on saturday night, I drank a few cans of Aurum, which at first didn't have a very pleasing taste. I found it to be bitter but as it was the only alcohol I had with me, I continued to drink it and after an hour or so of drinking it, I found it to go down a lot easier. It's a fine cheap beer at 22 cents per can as well as being only 4.5% but I'm not sure that I'll be drinking it again.

On sunday, my housemates and I went along to a festival in the nearby town of Mojacar but before the festivities kicked off we hung around at the beach and we all tried another hispanic beer but this time it was San Miguel Selecta XV. We all had a few cans of it each and the consensus about it was that it was a nice beer with a slight bitterness to it that was overpowered by a taste of hops. It has a nice sweet aftertaste to it but at 6.2%, I would advise pacing yourself because on this stuff, it doesn't take long for it's effects to follow, if it's drunk quickly. A good beer which I would very much like to another time.

Last night we bought several cans of Cruz Del Sur, which is made by Cruzcampo, and had an impromptu fiesta on our roof. I found it to be a fine beer that is light and smooth and goes down easy at 4.5%. For 35 cent per can, you can't go wrong either.

I hope to add more beers soon.

I wonder does Róisín Shortall et al know this.
They seem to think the availability of cheap alcohol is the main reason a country has alcohol problems.

Estrella Galicia 4 for 4 euro in Eurospar can't go wrong. Also think Coopers pale and sparkling ale are two of the best money can buy.

Had Metalman Pale Ale earlier. Nice tangy citrus and refreshing fruity flavour with a somewhat floral aroma. Not much head on the beer or carbonation but quite a refreshing beverage.

Had the 2 Fran Well limited editions over the past two days. Very nice indeed, should be on the blog tomorrow. The IPA was my favourite.

Had up in Ballyshannon the weekend before last, it's not bad at all

I had a bottle of the Limeburner. It was decent, nice light citrus hop flavour without being overpowering. Would be a nice enough sunny day drink

Actually it's another brewery called Bohemia. They also do Beyond the Pale Ale.

Dark Arts Stout. Rich tasting medium bodied stout. Moderate carbonation.
