I could be wrong but I don't recall him having disciplinary issues in recent times at Villa? I remember he had disciplinary problems when Kevin Keegan was his manager at Man City early in his career.

He might be worth a gamble if Lennon feels he needs an older head around to add a bit of much needed experience to the set up. Celtic got badly caught out for cover v Juventus that time. Worth considering is all I'll say.

Aston Villa's troubles on and off the pitch show no sign of coming to an end, with the news that two of the club's players have become involved in a heated exchange during a team-bonding exercise. It is understood that the players had been drinking and, although there is no suggestion that punches were thrown, it is a measure of how seriously Villa view the incident that they have launched an internal investigation.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/mar/13/aston-villa-james-collins-richard-dunne
The Aston Villa defenders James Collins and Richard Dunne have issued apologies after clashing with the club's coaching staff. The News of the World reported that the pair had been critical of some of the Villa manager Gérard Houllier's coaching staff during a team break at a health spa in Leicestershire this week.

Not worth the risk imo, either gamble on his fitness and offer a good deal from Celtic's perspective now or wait until he proves his fitness and he sells himself to highest bidder.

That first article mentions that two players were involved in an incident, but it doesn't actually say who they were. The article does go on to mention a separate incident where Dunne had a run in with the assistant manager Gary McAllister, amongst a rake of other run ins between different players and management at the time there at Villa.

Edit: Just read the 2nd article now, 'twas him alright. I'm sure Lenny would ensure that anything like that wont be happening if he was to sign him.

Everton have named Roberto Martinez as their new manager, with the Spaniard signing a four-year contract.

    Is the panic over? :pac:

I have it from an anonymous source that I cant reveal at this moment in time (dempsey) that Johnny Russell is going to Derby. This means that Celtic are going to have to look elsewhere, that is if they are to sign someone.

Keep up the good work there, always great to get the inside track. :pac:

I heard a rumour we'll be playing in the SPL next season. Don't shoot the messenger, you heard it here first. ;)

As long as celtic achieve their goal, to get a higher points total than any other club in the spl next season, they are expected to lift the 2013/2014 league title. My sources tell me that Neil Lennon would like to see this happen.

My source tells me that Ki Seung Yueng is to be sold and Adam Matthews got a stripper in Vegas....

Will it not be mixed? Am heading in with a couple of Liverpool fans, a mate from over there I've not seen in ages, and I'll be pissed off if we have to sit in different sections.

Nah it will be mixed alright but tickets through the clubs will tend to be apart so there will be sections where the majority will Celtic or Liverpool fans

Amido Balde close to a deal according to the Record:
    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/portuguese-striker-amido-balde-flies-1942720
AMIDO BALDE is due to jet into Glasgow this morning to complete a £2million move to Celtic.

The Vitoria Guimaraes striker will have his medical upon arrival and is poised to become Neil Lennon’s first signing of the summer after agreeing a deal.

Balde settled on his future over the weekend and set out with agent and uncle Catio Balde for the journey from Lisbon yesterday evening.

Following a late-night flight to London the pair are scheduled for a morning departure to Glasgow to tie up the loose ends on his transfer to the Scottish champions.

The Portuguese attacker had interest from Newcastle and Spanish outfit Sevilla while a late proposal from Premiership new boys Crystal Palace was also considered

However, Record Sport understands Celtic’s impressive and direct dealings with Vitoria president Julio Mendes cleared their path to land the 22-year-old who has one year left on his contract in Guimaraes.

Balde is keen on the move to Parkhead with the prospect of playing in the Champions League opening the door for a potential step up to Portugal’s squad for World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

He had previously told Record Sport of his Celtic ambitions and said: “I think I could go on and be the best striker in Scotland and one of the best in Europe.

“Celtic will obviously be playing in Europe again next season and that’s a big thing for me.

“The important thing is that I sign for a team who are playing Champions League football because that is the level I believe I should be playing at.”

Balde, who scored nine goals in 19 games last season, now looks set to secure that opportunity.

Meanwhile, Johnny Russell last night moved a step closer to signing for Derby after being given a tour of Pride Park.

The Dundee United striker flew home from holiday yesterday and immediately headed down south to have a look around the Championship club.

Despite interest from Celtic, Reading and Serie A outfit Catania, the 23-year-old will agree a deal with Nigel Clough’s side tonight if there are no last-minute bids from elsewhere.

Hoops boss Lennon has been monitoring Russell’s situation and had been asked to be kept informed of developments but as yet no bid has been tabled by the Parkhead club and the highly-rated hitman now looks to have played his last game in the SPL.

Celtic defender Thomas Rogne also appears set to leave Scotland.

The Norwegian defender, who signed for the Hoops from Stabaek in 2010, turned down the offer of a new deal in February.

After helping Norway beat England 3-1 at the European Under-21 Championship in Israel on Saturday, Rogne was quizzed about his Parkhead future.

The 22-year-old said: “I still have a month left on my contract so I haven’t left yet but it seems that way.

“I am just here to enjoy these Euros and then we will see what will happen afterwards. My focus is on Norway and that is all I am thinking about right now.”

I heard on the radio that this is Stokes:
An investigation is being carried out into an allegation that an Irish soccer player based in the UK may have attacked a man in a nightclub in Dublin over the weekend.
A man made a complaint to gardaí that he was the victim of an unprovoked attack at the nightclub and that he sustained head injuries.
He claims he sustained a broken nose, chipped teeth and head injuries after he was hit and headbutted a number of times.
The alleged attack took place on Friday night/Saturday morning in a nightclub in the south of the city.
Detectives are viewing CCTV footage from the nightclub as well as identifying possible witnesses.
Gardaí have yet to interview the football player about the alleged incident.

Will wait to hear all the details, but if true we can do without that ****e being associated with our club.

The Scottish Sun are reporting that it is Stokes. I think Celtic will release him now

I'm actually raging about that tbh. Thought he was growing up a bit, and was starting to look like a really good player for us. This sort of stuff ruins what was turning into a success story.

It's an 'alleged' assault. doesnt look good but i wouldnt go jumping to any conclusions just yet

This is the Scottish Sun so I would be assuming the story is the usual anti Celtic bias unless proven otherwise. Personally I really hope we get Stokes signed up on a new 4 year deal as I think he along with the likes of Ledley, Brown and Samaras can be brilliant for us as part of the core team that stays together long term.

The Scottish Sun named him as the player involved. Several other media outlets, like RTE, are reporting the 'alleged' assault aswell

What a shame that even some Celtic supporters have assumed that Anthony is guilty. Nothing like supporting your team and players is there?

The story originated in the Sun (which of course has a great record in telling the truth and not twisting anything) and of course was picked up by other media. Why anyone would be raging is beyond me when we only have a little bit of the 'story'. And why would Celtic release him based on a story in the Sun? Lennon will probably remember Newcastle in 2002 and how a nothing incident was reported by the press.

His discipline record at Celtic is atrocious, he's not on the best terms with Neil Lennon, he's out of contract this month and he's turned down the latest offer. Celtic have an option on him but they havent activated it yet. Go figure.

Has this Amido Balde actually signed yet? Don't normally see a player standing outside Parkhead with a scarf unless the deal is done.

Not actually signed yet but it seems to be a formality at this stage, or so my source tells me :pac:

The photo op with the scarf was probably seen by Lawwell and is currently lowballing his agent
