And I'd love for a return to 70mm cinema. Not necessarily the projectors but the cameras.

No point filming in it if you can't project it, really. I've seen a good few 70mm projections over the last year or two, including The Master, and DCP 70mm remasters have absolutely nothing on them.

Most cinemas are still projecting in 2k anyway! Resolution is neat and all, but as the Alexa's reputation with the best cinematographers goes to show even without 4k and 5k capturing, it's far, far from the only point of importance.

Yeah, it's great and all, but I'm probably gonna have a hard time watching the movies if they release them on 4k media. They'll only have the bitrate to really showcase it.

Plus, I kinda only said 70mm because of the higher quality compared to traditional 35mm. But you are right that it should be showcased.

At any moment that conversation was going to go all Arcade and Retro, but it never happened...
Still a Friday night in film school instead of poorly parsed tales of Atavans drunken derring do, could I be seeing a new maturity among the regulars?
Is Steve going to get that trilby?
    Will he buy two?
Will he grow improbable facial hair?

    Careful now,
After years of promising the next game was a return to everything we loved about Sonic before being disappointed, don't underestimate the power of Sonic Team to bugger this up!

Well, I did buy this pocket watch a week or so ago and already have facial hair that could easily be shaped into something improbable :0(
    It's happening, isnt it? :(

As of 18:00 on the 9th of June, 2013 -

My Playstation 2 has officially ceased to function.

It performed its duties admirably, under strenuous conditions, giving thousands upon thousands of hours of entertainment. It was never too tired to have a session of Pro Evolution Soccer 3 at 4 in the morning on a Thursday. It never complained or shirked when I would scream "CHEATING ****ING BASTARDS!!" at it when I failed in a game of Hitman 2 on the hardest settings. It was always there, always ready to play, right up until today, when it just couldn't do it anymore.

    RIP PS2.

You gave and gave and gave. You will be sorely missed. Journey well my friend.

I'd just like to say that one if my heroes, a leading light for me, Iain Banks has died.
He was only 59 and it was that b@st@rd cancer that did for him,
RIP and you will be missed.

I played a bit of Pandemonium today for the first time since the 90's. Still holds up ok, but it still seems unnecessarilly difficult though. Thank again, maybe I'm just crap at it.

Been out all day watching grown men hit each other with sticks, ya know hurling. First time ever at a match and the craic is mighty to be sure, to be sure.
A bit drunk but I fired up Fire emblem an the 3ds there for a bit and passed 4thstage on hard with no losses, think I might but that on my cv.

May I point out that it was actually the second difficulty setting, which makes it even more impressive.

That's how Atavan finishes all his games, and why he's drunk so much, he's a lousy player when sober, but an awesome playa' when p1ssed!

Handy international time table for E3

Also looking like Destiny of Spirits is definitely a thing.

(EDIT: And it looks like Destiny of Spirits is actually a rhythm action RPG from Q Entertainment)

    Master of the Universe

I can still remember the first time I played a Killer Instinct cab on Bray seafront - visuals absolutely blew me away.

That was the thing about some arcade games back then. Didn't matter if gameplay was any good, in many cases it was just about the visuals.

I still really miss that 'wow' feeling we used to get with new hardware and games. Do kids get that these days? Or do they just assume everything has 'amazing' visuals by default?

Only wow factor for me is Dark Souls II, and even then I have to try and ignore the sh*tty music:

Hopefully it'll be out on PC and be all the better for it.

Yep. Coming to both PC and PS3. Would have to imagine Witcher 3 coming to PC too, all that DRM doesn't seem like CD Project Red's bag at all.

I had assumed the PC was the home machine for Witcher 3. Trailer looked great, working sound was a bonus too. :p

Are valve having a conference at E3?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭DinoRex

Really enjoyed Witcher 2 and wasn't expecting to. So looking forward to 3 a lot. Then they also have their Cyberpunk game in the works.

Were MS not supposed to be showing all the new IP, 15 or something titles they said? Didn't see the whole conference mind so maybe they did.
