It's been multiracial Ireland for the guts of two decades now. Maybe you're blowing things a bit out of proportion.

    Jaysus...

You made me feel OLD!

I can remember the (rumours) about Lauryn Hill hating white folk, and the next day/week she was playing in the Point. At the time there were 32 :pac: people in Ireland that weren't white.

What has multicultural got to do with anything ?
Stupid drunken kids having fights has been happening ever since stupid kids and alcohol were invented

Exactly. Scum will be scum. If it wasn't race it would be sexuality, appearance, mental health, etc.

Welcome to yob cultural Ireland more like.
Old Irish or new Irish this was a general display of feckless teenage twats
    It's hardly the Brixton riots

There have always been fights break out between teenage idiots, whether it be with people from the neighbouring town or rival football club etc. I think it's just the scale of this and the absolute disregard for other beach users that is pretty gauling.

There has been more serious trouble over the years as well and various skinhead gangs and all the rest

Maybe I see this differently because I'm an adult now myself whereas in the 80's I was a child and the 90's a teenager myself
but acting the thug seems to be more mainstream and acceptable now.

Aside from the bottle throwing and people milling about in the video footage and the absolutely vile accompanying racist comments
it's all just a bit embarrassing and pathetic. Also, how much litter did they manage to generate? the beach is destroyed with cans, plastic bags, cardboard boxes and general debris.

The UK have many of the same problems with youths and anti-social behaviour as we do but even they are not thick enough to choose a beach to destroy

I don't respect it but I could see some kind of motivation for the London riots, even the supposed protests here during the love Ulster parade and the Queen's visit. Heading to the beach en masse with a massive sense of entitlement and full intent to wreck the place I don't really get at all.

It does seem that general bad behaviour is tolerated more and more, so therefore there is no deterrent to stop and the teenagers will push the boundaries further. If they're not afraid of any consequences then why not go all out and do whatever the hell they want

Dublin is far more relevant in terms of industry.
It's also far more relevant in terms of scangery.

What's not to get? Garda numbers are continuously dropping and overtime is non existent.
    That's a cop out of a response.
    How about this scenario

9am malahide Garda station morning briefing:
Chief superintendent - it's going to be a scorcher today, schools are finishing which means the scrots will be heading to portmarnock strand. So why don't we park up two or three cars at the beach today to establish a presence and check kids for booze as they arrive. Also why don't we get in touch with Clontarf, Raheny and howth stations (none more than 18 mins drive) and see if they can help us out.

Hardly rocket science expecting the gardai to do their job. I drove past at sixish and at that point a Garda van pulled up and started checking kids walking towards the beach for booze....closing door after horse bolting and all that....

Your plan still requires Gardai to be dedicated to it. So who answers the calls in the district while the Gardai are stopping the riff raff?

on one of the facebook links i saw today i did laugh at one comment from an African/Irish chap who was calling some of the mob up on their/they're/there grammar and also corrected the spelling of the "N" word for another guy!

i read the comments on this one.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFBvccdPUKY

mainly racist drivel. But some of it was spectacularly stupid.
A lot of people here are dumbasses, blacks **** **** up thats the truth. I lived in Virginia and went to an all black school. Whites accounted for like maybe 35%

I don't think he understands the meaning of the word all.

I'd love to know what happened to the anti-racism\educational stuff in school that is supposed to alleviate future racist issues among both whites and blacks? It clearly failed on Thursday.
Though thankfully in recent times I have seen kids of all races hanging out with each other in various parts of Dublin, there is hope!

Looking beyond the immediate Portmarnock Rumble, the term "Spectacularly Stupid" does reasonate with me.

It points a quivering finger at the general level of suitability for purpose which Irish Second-Level Education enjoys.

I believe that one of the reasons for the poor regard in which Irish Universities now find themselves held in,is the dumbing-down of education in general.

Good high quaility education has never been more readily available to the young Irish, yet for some,as yet, hidden reason,we appear totally unable to make any valid use of it.

All you tube comments from anywhere about anything are equally stupid.

I think the world is following a dysgenic path.

Ireland's growing underclass - in particular the Dublin underclass - don't listen to much moralising from teachers. They also see themselves as a victim group.

Don't worry Dublin City Council are even on the case. Racists stopped being racists when their mass anti-racism advertising was everywhere. Money well spent.

As for Dublin I know one youth club in the north inner city had to seperate the teens attending by colour to different days after problems occured. Think they're back meshed together again these days though. As for integration it is working amongst the young in the area, now gangs of anti-social cretins are of mixed ethnicities.

    Absolutely spot-on dsmythy !

Whilst the "Authorities" get their panties wrapped round their necks over the evils of racism..(It's everywhere,y'know ),those inhabiting the real-world know damn well that cretinism long ago managed to jump the ethnic security fences.

However,as long as we accept that "Our" Society is failing them,we'll be just fine........more investments required in "Projects" n Stuff ;)

Should have got the fire brigade out to hose them down, that would cool their tempers.

.....telling them that their school holidays were cancelled would have shut most of them up, tbh.

Sean Sherlock stated on twitter that he plans to raise a motion to ban buses and trains, without public transport the beaches will be safe.

I heard he was going to post loads of racist remarks on social media sites so that he could later sue the perpetrators that repeat them for intellectual property theft and have all the websites on the internet shut down.

...be a hard job convincing any jury that he ever had any "intellectual property"....

There's only one possible solution to this problem: close off licenses 8 minutes earlier.

Actually, the progenitors of the next generation won't be solely confined to the kids that were fighting on the beach.

At least I hope not as we'll all look like people from Cavan with a gene pool as small as that.

Dubliners can't get over a superiority complex even when, clearly, most social problems in Dublin are caused by Dubliners.

It's sad. I've been working in Ireland for a few years as an IT specialst but am considering to move. 1 year ago an Irish colleague was sacked due to threatening a Romanian celaning lady to cut her neck. I witnessed the situation. Ireland will be considered a dangerous place for foreigners soon and really valuable people will leave the country too. Police poor response is also sad. In other countries the response is fast, tough and direct and elite groups are sent to the scene. I doubt that anti-terrorist or other elite police groups operate here in Ireland because never read news about them. The government close police stations around the country though. It's also sad that the future of Ireland is on the hand of these youngsters. Not a promising future...

Ok. Maybe it's exaggerated a bit but the issue is there. Authorities here was not prepared for this big number of immigrants.Tension is growing and it seems there is no plan to solve or at least to ease the situation. Garda is not prepared to solve these kind of situations in fast effective way.
