    No they're not

“Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.” -Socrates.

Yeah, you know what, ill take a roving gang of toga wearing philosophy students terrorising my neighbourhood over adidas clad scumbags any day.
Teenagers are getting worse in their behaviour. Its a fact.

I think we should include the right to bear arms in our constitution. It is getting out of hand, drunk teenagers everywhere as soon as the sun breaks through the clouds.

I know it will mean the death of a lot of bears but we need something to use against these marauding gangs of white, black, mixed race, black and white, sunburned red drunken teenagers. I for one am scared of where it will all lead. Thank God the Irish Open wasn't on at the time it would have looked awful in the background as Rory or Graham were lining up their next shot. Worse again if Tiger had turned up.

I don't understand how you can call him racist if he is only repeating what he heard on a radio station.
I really hate all this kind of your a racist rubbish if someone said it was an Irish lad that started it would the same comment be considered "racist"? No it wouldn't so get off your high horse. In both the video and from what he heard on the radio station the story is the same, so how is he meant to know any better unless physically there in the middle of it when it started.
I really hate all you PC brigade.

You know what I'm fed up with? being labelled PC brigade. I regularly censor myself when I'm telling jokes because i don't want to get a drink thrown in my face. I realise they're just fecking jokes, but still, it's dangerous sometimes. I am in favour of conscription and national service. I believe in military intervention in troubled countries. I believe that people who hurt others should be locked up and punished.

But because I think that we should look at a greater picture, look at the underlying causes and not just blame someone skin, religion or place of birth I'm called PC brigade on a regular basis on these boards. I understand that it might make it easier to view the world through labels like PC brigade, socialist, black, white, Muslim, them & us. But all you're doing is ignoring evidence which doesn't allow you to bracket someone into little predetermined clichés and stereotypes.

    So feck off.

Riots in Portmarnock yesterday were purely and simply arising out of the lack of garda planning. The dogs in the street know when theres even a hint of sun in this country the beach and parks are a magnet for people wanting to take in the rays and get tanked up. Purely from a health and safety point of view there should have been life guards and a security presence considering the volumes of people on the beach yesterday.
First thing yesterday morning when it was obvious it was going to be a nice day, the gardai should have been proactive using social media to track peoples' plans for the day and deploying officers to various beaches to prevent the accumulation of people and prevent the consumption of alcohol.

Why is it time after time that the police in this country 'react' to public disorder rather than be proactive and prevent it from happening?
The gardai in 1995 should have expected trouble from english soccer fans in Lansdowne road, poor pregame planning and intelligence and an abject lack of common sense by the gardai could have prevented those english thugs spoiling the show.

The chaos that accompanied the Love ulster parade in Oconnell st where some idiot teenage republican thugs were allowed to run riot on the country's main thoroughfare and were armed with the debris from the building site in the middle of the street, the gardai were again to blame for this. A blind man with a blind guide dog could have told you having tonnes of easily accessed rubble in the middle of oconnell street, a loyalist parade and disaffected bored hordes of teenagers would have been a toxic mix, apparently someone forgot to tell the gardai.

The chaos in the phoenix park during the swedish house mafia gig again stemmed from zero planning by the gardai, its a blessing nobody died.

Before im accused of having an anti-garda agenda, might i remind people that the gardai are the custodians of the state. They are paid well to uphold the law, when they fail, citizens and society suffers. If the residents in portmarnock can tell you scenes witnessed yesterday are a regular occurance every time there is a half decent day, then its imperative the gardai get their finger out, plan in advance, mobilise personnel and protect the public.Apparently only 3 arrests were made yesterday ?? Pathetic.

    Lol, this part is funny.

On any normal day you can walk around dublin and see groups of scumbags of mixed races wandering around doing scumbaggy things. Black and white scumbags seem to have no problem intermingling.

Therefore I think the only reasonable conclusion is that these scumbags rationally examined the logistics of a proper riot, and realised that in order to successfully stage such an event they needed two clear and distinct sides. Realising that they lacked facilities such as coloured jerseys or other demarcations to correctly differentiate the sides, they came to the only logical conclusion and divided themselves by race.

It's an excellent example of how clever and adaptable today's scumbag needs to be to thrive in the modern world.

you forgot the key variable it was sunny which made shirts v skins unworkable as eveyrone wanted to be a skin

No, it's not a fact. The quote demonstrates that everyone in every generation since ancient history has thought this exact same thing. That's actually impossible.

But yeah, I'd rather roving philosophy students too :D

Oh this is a yearly event which has been getting bigger each year. (last year it rained so no one went) The year or two before that about 1000 people showed up. It has a name which I just can't seem to remember maybe someone else will know it. Its always around this time every year.

Flagon day , it originally started as a small group from Portmarnock Secondary getting suited and booted to head to the beach to drink flagons which has grown and grown. The young'uns these days have no class and have dropped the suits and flagons and opted for naggins, pathetic "race wars" and just having it on any aul random sunny day. Last" official " flagon day if my recall is correct was 3 years ago.

Don't try and insinuate that i in anyway categorize or discriminate based on the colour of someones skin, place of birth or religion etc.. because i don't nor have i in any of my posts. All i said was it was silly calling someone a racist for quoting a radio show program about a supposed "race war". I think all involved are scum end of.
People probably label you as part of the PC brigade for comments just like that one.
If I am described to by someone as Irish or White though I don't think it is racist because there is nothing derogatory about it, it is simply fact. If it was used in a derogatory fashion implying because of these characteristics it will somehow determine the way i behave then i would take offence. But screaming racist because someone uses a word to describe the characteristics of someone is stupid and all to do with being "politically correct"

I would like to add that I have gone and looked at all the posts made by the other user and he dose indeed have some pathetic racist agenda.

I think writing off whole sections of the population as scumbags is more of a problem than racism in Ireland. Boards is full of people saying such and such a group are scum. I lived in Portmarnock during my school days during the eighties and it was brilliant and lively in the summer. Visitors from all over added to the fun.Looking down your nose at day trippers from the inner city is reprehensible in my view. This is an isolated incident and shouldn't be treated like the end of civilisation.

    Hardly riots.

Young people enjoying themselves i one of the few places you can get to by bus on a sunny day.
More cop on required by - those who were there, those who think that was a riot.

Isolated to every sunny day we have in this country but you are right, we shouldn't be too hard on these deprived youngsters who were drunk, disorderly and ruined a lovely day out at the beach for everyone else. It's not their fault; the fault lies with society as a whole, I presume?

I live close enough to a beach (about 10 mins) but would never go to it on a sunny day because the riff raff from the local area and the inner city that always descend on it. The trains do be packed with the dregs of society having their consequenceless days out by the beach in a decent area.

    .

Richard Hillman could you post a description of yourself to help with the creation of a voodoo effigy .

My point is hold the people responsible responsible and don't tar everyone with the same brush, Presume away ,its your only option as you dont know me.

Reading some of the comments on Facebook last night, and some under YouTube vids, and some under different news articles I saw, never mind the actual footage of bottles being flung between the 2 groups - Genuinely amazed at the amount of racist comments.
Am I that naive to have been believing that racism wasn't really an issue here anymore. Like I knew there were the odd ones that held tight to their old school views, but really didn't think it was too widespread :/
Or is it mostly just media fueled sensationalism and people getting swept up in the hysteria?
Don't know what to believe tbh.

Sean Sherlock stated on twitter that he plans to raise a motion to ban buses and trains, without public transport the beaches will be safe.

I have no problem with people from the inner city going to the beach and having a few cans in the sunshine but when it ends up like an reenactment of the film Zulu with families with young children getting caught up in the middle of it,its completely unacceptable
