Any link to the thread that originated from gnfnrhead? there's quite a few landmarks on that I'd love to know what screenshots they originate from as I don't remember them in game.

All the same, I want to play that map!

Will the map be released before the game? There's a chance this was asked before, and there's a chance that it was I who asked it!

Dont think it gets released before hand. As best I can recall, the first time you see it is in game or with the map provided (assuming they still do it) in the case.

It was on Google, I didnt take note of the site, I was just looking at the pictures :o

I reckon a lot of them were made up based on the location and the inclusion of an Area 51 type compound etc.

They definitely revealed the San Andreas map on the official website before release, I remember it was revealed in 3 parts. Can't remember what happened with the IV map though.

San Andrea's map was pretty cool and had a good area to play about with.

But if you hover above Liberty City in a Heli you will see that its pretty big and to fit in every single detail down to man hole covers is an amazing achievement.

People seem to forget that it is a computer game, and to have a view of Liberty City from a height is quiet impressive for a 'game'

I remember some genius on one of the GTA forums saw the outline of the Liberty City map on a police radar from a screenshot of a police boat about 2 or 3 months before it and it actually turned out to be the exact same map.

If I remember correctly though, R* didn't officially release the map themselves until the game was out of course.

class, 80 dollars is a bargain for the special edition. Collectors edition is a bit steep for an extra hat, bag and unique vehicles/classic avatars (who the hell wants to play as nico again :D)

I hope this means that those who don't buy the collectors edition have access to these vehicles but just not straight away.

I couldn't be arsed with that extra crap. I just want to play the game.

$150 for the Collector's is a bit steep tbf...

$70 more for a hat, bag and digital content is a bit much in fairness.

Maybe it's just me but I'm incredibly underwhelmed by the Collector's edition. How can they justify $75 for a cap, a bag and a bit of DLC.

Perhaps the likes of Bioshock Infinite and Skyrim has me spoiled but this is a really poor offering tbh.

Hate to tell you but the edition with the cap and bag is 150 dollars :pac:

I think they're subtracting the normal price of the game from that to show that for $75 all you're getting is the bag and cap.

So we have a snippet of our map? I imagine thats LAX down the bottom right corner, the old viewing/control tower looks the same as SA (or Los Angeles itself!).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,337 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Ah yeah, huge jump in price for a hat and bag. Did 4 have a big gearbag and lock box as collectors edition?

I wonder is it just gonna be gamestop who get the editions or who.

What exactly is digital content? DLC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,684 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I could see myself going for the Special Edition, but not the collectors one. The bag and hat look nice, but would just get tossed aside and never used. The old-GTA characters for multiplayer would be cool but I'd be shocked if the digital stuff didn't become paid-DLC a few weeks after release anyway. The garage with the car and bike, while that would be nice, that sort of thing kinda spoiled me in Sleeping Dogs, where I always had really fast cars in the garage, clothes which gave bonuses and general boosts to stats.

Special edition would do me grand I think.

Yeah, I'd say if you buy the special or collector's edition you simply get codes to download the digital stuff rather than them being on the disc. So it's DLC, but you get codes to download it for free.

I'll probably get the collectors edition for the garage and the nice bike. I love bikes. I'll probably spend a week playing this game 12 hours a day in my boxers, with the hat on, and the bank bag full of tangy cheese doritos.

I dont like having to preorder just to fly the blimp. Id rather just pop down to tesco or smyths and get the cheapest on launch day instead of being tied down to wherever i prebook.

But i really want the blimp :(

Though likely seen before and not an exclusive list, some interesting tidbits include:

Confirmed mini games include yoga, skydiving, scubadiving, golf, tennis, triathlons, bike racing, picking up hitchhikers, basejumping and ATM robberies

You won't drop/lose your gun your character is wielding if you run out of bullets

The money earned from heists will be millions of dollars

Shipwrecks won't only contain hidden money, but also useful items

Every vehicle is customisable; performance and aesthetics on the level of Midnight Club. Overtuning your car can make it useless and you can customise licence plates

Buying into property gives you perks, for example investing in a taxi firm will mean never having to spend money on a cab again

Infinitely the most ambitious game seen on current generation consoles

Certain purchases need other purchases to unlock; you need to buy a helipad before you can buy a helicopter, and the same can go for marinas

Something interesting also noted is that, after receiving a tip from a viewer, one of the images in the Los Santos photoviewers released in November last year as a pre-order perk is "exactly" if not identical to how the demo shown to the press started out, with Franklin skydiving over the mountains.
