    GTX 780 to cost €500?!

I'll take 80% of a Titan for that money! If this gets released before June 10th (Step-Up expiry) I'll be ordering one for sure.

Is that to be a replacement for the 680 or the Titan?

It's the next step forward from the 680, but based on the same architecture I think.

    Um, 780?!

1 performance for 1 price (780), or 1.2 performance for 2 price (Titan).

Screw it, just buy two. :P

I'm guessing those prices exclude VAT?

If i could shove them into a prodigy and water cool it would be 2 780's easy but its not

Can you get a good wc case for matx:o

What'll this do to the 680 prices?

    Million dollar question right there.

Point taken. Corsair's 350D is pretty freakin' awesome as far as water cooling support goes. 2x240(+120, possibly) out of the box.

Well I was thinking on that info the titan is $999 = €776 you have to add 23% vat to get the retail price of the titan here

So by that logic the 780 is $599 = €465
When you add 23% VAT you get €571

Sounds about right... A bit higher than I was hoping for, but who knows.

Seen a lot of people do deadly WC in the ft03. The corsair 350d looks pretty good for it too.

So yeah.. I was quite interested in "shield", but for that price, they can go and fudge themselfs...

Be lucky if the 780 comes in <€600 on release, especially if it performs 25-30% better than the 680. I'm in no rush to upgrade, but if a decent non reference model comes out with 5-6GB colour me interested.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Well remembering that the price tuxy took was $599, where the article I quoted estimates $500, so we might well see it for that much.

The Titan is only ~30-35% faster than the 680 after all, so I'd expect the 780 to be a round 25% faster, which is right in line with regular upgrade cycles, Titan architecture or not.

I used $599 which was the min price on this article.

Which article gives a price of $500, is it contained in that overclock.net thread?
    I've not read it yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Yeah, it's in the first post of that thread.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,983 ✭✭✭✭tuxy

That first post has that article as it's source which has now updated to say sources(PHK, not sure who this is) say the price will be $699

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Damn. If this card ends up in the €5-550 bracket, I'll consider it, else I'll be sticking with my 670. It would be lovely if it came in at the standard flagship price.

It will be at least €600 when Amd have nothing and will have nothing to rival it for several months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Looks like the 780 will in fact hit on the 23rd!

So with the 760ti coming in at around €300 do you guys think we will be seeing €300 7970's ?

It will be quite interesting to see if AMD react, they already offer tremendous value so its more realistic to expect... MOAR FREE GAMES !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,815 ✭✭✭Burgo

Is there any news on the upcoming amd cards? I'd say they would drop prices to stay competitive.

The latest rumors point to 20nm parts at the end off the year on paper at least.

They cant really drop prices any further can they without product stacks overlapping.

    €300 -7970 + games
    €250-7950 + games

I have a 7870 which I rarely use for gaming. Isnt there a way to switch on the fly to dedicated Intel 4000 graphics and plug into my mobo HDMI port, only firing up the 7870 just for games? I cant find the name of the software that does it. Anyone?

Why would you want to do this?
You can probably change it in the bios.

To save electricity and the PC runs quieter too with less fans running. I've definitely heard of software that does it but I don't know the name.

A HD7870 only uses about 12W idling in 2D mode so isn't not really worth the hastle for power reasons, for noise you could probably just change the fan profiles to get the desired effect.
