I think the comments sum it up, really.

He's making all those points, and then says nobody is doing anything about it. If he's so passionate about it, then why isnt HE doing something about it - he's in the media, he has his own radio show to drum up some support if he REALLY wanted to do something about it, and then has the neck to say that the media isnt asking the hard questions...???

What hard questions? everybody knows whats happening. This is neither a fresh topic, or anything new that people havent heard time and time again.

What is WITH this country? why does everything take YEARS longer to sort out than with other countries? Stupid kip full of people like Prendeville, just spouting out nonsense that we've heard before, sensationalising it for his own show's benefit - as if anyone forgot!?!!?

I tried reading that, I really did, but before the second sentence was finished all the words were rearranging themselves to read "I am a dirty old man and I whipped my cock out on a plane" over and over again.

He is right....I agree with him on pretty much every point

Nothing new, country is full of clowns like that and you can read similar stuff on here on a regular basis from clowns who still live with their parents.

Yeah but didn't he **** on a plane?

He'll forever be known as the guy who had a **** on a plane. I hope the **** was worth it.

He complains about the mega companies coming here and killing off the corner shops. If there were no Tescos or Aldis then I have no doubt he'd be complaining about how the corner shops are bleeding us dry.

The man is a clown. He'll say anything to rile people up and draw some attention to himself. This thread is playing right into his hands. I hope this doesn't draw any more attention than it already has.

There should be a video game of this: "MicroSOFT, Flight STIMULATOR" with a free pack of Nurofen thrown in. :pac:

There is a kind of a boom going on there at the moment.
All jokes aside, there is a local construction comopany who have won some sort of contract out there, and a local kitchen company have opened a kitchen showroom in Lagos.
McNamara construction (of NAMA fame) have been awarded a €40m contract to build a new university in a northern province of Nigeria... who would have ever thought?

They also referred to it as "the land of milk and honey".

No, he's talking in vague generalities that strike a chord with anyone with a pain in their arse but no precise political agenda.

Wealthy business man tries to shift blame for country's mess onto foreigners.

    Surprising.

Brilliant responses from @ireland on twitter today.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

All he's doing is appeasing his listenership (phone-in) - he knows much of this rant is tripe and unfair, and he knows it's hypocritical of him. He's hardly stupid enough not to. He's viewed by people who aren't the sharpest, as a "man of the people" and he's just playing on that and pressing exactly the buttons he knows are the right ones for them. It's called manipulation.

Good to see such a cheap tactic backfired anyway.

Prendeville, an upper-middle class white man, feels he has a right to be indignant at vulnerable immigrants receiving a medical card. The man is and has proven himself to be a tosser, and so is anyone else who subscribes to such populist garbage.

I assume that he's attempting to pick up listeners from 4fm now that the David Harvey Casual Racism Hour has been cancelled as of this week...http://radionation.ie/2013/05/4fm-drop-david-harvey-show/

From what I know of Neil, he didn't write it unaided.
The piece is causing quite a stir on Leeside.
I've noticed a lot of anger on all talkshows recently. Something's gonna give.

Aside from that, Prendeville made some comment today, saying that he would'nt be able to criticize the government from the middle of June.
Has there been some change in the broadcasting law?

"Clowns" like what? Which bit is "clownish"? So he wanked on a plane, once, does that define him for ever? If you're going to apply that logic, I doubt there's too many people who don't have some fcuk up in their past.

I agree with pretty much everything he said. Good for him for saying it. If you are completely dense, your post below will be along the lines of "buh he wanked on a plane, didn't he". Yeah, he did, it's been mentioned. Which bits of what he just said there don't you believe to be the case though, because to me, pretty much everything there hit the nail on the head.

Well he's part of it - he's not doing anything to change it and I doubt he'd avoid a bit of cronyism himself when it comes to his successful businesses. Actions speak louder than words.

Plus it's highly inflammatory, not a word of anything to properly support it, and much of it aimed at easy targets. I think people should read between the lines and seek out the aim here: it's not a crusade for the betterment of society (it's a fecking Facebook post :D) it's a cynical exercise to get his listeners all riled up. The same as what certain newspapers do.
I'd be of the above view, plane incident or not.
"We gloryify pop stars who pay no tax in the country they live... a health system that should be envious of a third world country and pay billions in welfare and benefits annually to people, not all but enough, who don’t need nor deserve them, except to work and claim, drive new cars and watch flat screen hd tv’s... We re-employ retired public sector workers... We allow two year olds to die on the side of the road... We have children going to school hungry , to an education systems that is in itself corrupt with cosy deals for book publishers"

He'd better ensure songs by those pop stars no longer be played on his radio shows.
Which third world country's health system should we be envious of? It's bad here but it's fair to say it's a lot better than that of many third world countries.
New cars and flat-screen TVs on the dole? How is that mathematically possible?
Do "we" employ retired public sector workers or is that maybe one incident and do "we" allow two-year-olds to die on the side of the road?
Any back-up for the cosy deals for book publishers claim?
Oh and Ireland isn't as corrupt as Russia.

Terrible and stupid rant by him.

I found it hilarious when Prendeville was spouting off about nepotism on that Facebook/ on air rant. Prendeville writes articles for RSVP magazine, and guess who's the editor of that magazine?? His wife
