I believe these boxes can take pay per view cards. What kinda cards would theses be, what channels would I expect to get in Ireland. Thanks if anyone can answer.

yes this is correct, but you need to know someone with server. get line from them,, put a patched firmware on the box, run emu cccam or newcamd. connect to internet with cat 5 cable,,, and all premium channels will clear..... this is known as cardsharing... or make your own server anyway google has your answers

Thanks for that but I was thinking about legal cards.

Are there any english speaking companies selling cards with a package like sky but cheaper.

Sorry I will start a new thread for this..................

One card that a lot of people get is a Cyfra card from Poland to watch Football on Hotbird. There is a thread about the cards for this Polich company as they have just amalgamated with another company and the cards have just changed and new packages have been released this week. Check out the thread and www.satsklep.pl

This is the thread about that card:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056895544

Other cards that people get are Al-Jazeera - but again this is for Hotbird.

But if its just Astra 28 Sat you have, then I dont know what other cards are available except for Sky.

    Hi Folks

I am the happy new owner of a 150 and I need a little help, I have done the terrestrial autoscan and as I live on Forth Mountain in Wexford I am lucky enough to pick up Freeview as well as Saorview. However the 150 is not picking up the FreeviewHD channels( I have a Phillips receiver that does pick them up so I know it's not the signal strength). How does the Manual search option work? Is this something I can use to find the BBCHD BBC ONEHD CH4HD ITVHD. I am not using the sat side of the box at the moment as I have a Humax FreesatHDR set up to this tv already but it would be nice to have all the HD channels on the 150 as well if possible.

The Ariva 150 doesn't work with the DVB-T2 transmission standard used by Freeview HD.

    The newer 152 & 252 models can handle T2.

Aah! Ok then guess I can't have everything go my way, thanks for your help.

Why not just use a dish feed to pick these up ?

Yeh probably do that now, I just thought I might get away with keeping the two dish feeds into the Humax and get the HD channels on Freeview as well. Not a big issue.

Hello my first post so bear with me.

I have installed a 150 based on what I read here. Its working perfect and am really pleased with it as its my first time with FTA satellite.

    I am confused about upgrading
Q1 - Do I have to upgrade in sequence? I notice that an upgrade is issued every month, so can I upgrade every third month?

Q2 - I have edited (That editor is a pain) my channel list, to a format I like, should I backup this list before I upgrade? After upgrade, I do a scan and then restore my channel list. Is this the correct sequence?

    Welcome to boards

You can install the latest file without installing previous versions

You have to import your channel list on top of the new firmware version , Darth Maul figured out how to do this here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=72892011

Unless you have good reason to upgrade the sw its not really worth the bother imho

New firmware version 1.23B2 out. I'll be having a try of it later this evening.
Anyone know what the bin save of the channels is? Or how to use it?

In the meantime, what they have to say about it on their homepage as follows:

    New software is available for receivers 1.23B2 Ariva 52E, 102mini, 102E, 150Combo, 152Combo, 202E, 250Combo and 252Combo.

The new system software version introduces many improvements and bug fixes reported by users so far. And gives to use the new features. Recommend that you upgrade to a new version, and then restore the factory settings in order to "clean" the TV's settings.

    improved access to Web services
improved and adapted to support FastScan nC +
Added option "remember last mode" (more information here )
added a new feature "My IPTV" (more details here and a description of streamowania of VLC here )
    Improved WiFi connections resume
Improved handling of TP 12012 29700 V on Astra 1
Fixed save a list of channels in BIN format for models 152 and 252
and other minor fixes and improvements

Note: For this update, it is recommended to format the disk / memory or delete all the directories created by the receiver in order to avoid possible errors associated with changes.

In addition to the previous post, I came across this info on another site:

    Starting from version 1.23B2, receivers Ariva 52E, 102mini, 102E, 150Combo, 152Combo, 202E, 250Combo and 252Combo are equipped with a function for IPTV.
It allows for manual or automatic transmission adding video streaming over the Internet or local network using HTTP

Here is 1.23 Ariva 150 Firmware with free satellite channel list included http://www.mediafire.com/?214m9a4zvzxx5v9

How to guide is here http://www.mediafire.com/view/?69yp35sijci8dly

I've upgraded factory boxes without any issues but I'd always advise not to upgrade unless there's a good reason to.

Just to mention that, apart from the iptv update, I've noticed that one bug in particular has been fixed in this update. If you have a favourite list which is a mix of terrestrial and satellite channels and you start to record a terrestrial channel then hitting the info button incorrectly gives you info on the first satellite channel rather than the terrestrial channel.

It was one of a list of problems/suggestions I sent to them. List below, anyone anything to add perhaps?

-Cannot change fav group while recording.

-Playing from pvr during record is allowed but recording has stopped with no warning.

-Pressing stop button at any time causes tv to switch away from hdmi channel.

-Pressing play during pvr playback gives blank multifeed box. Used to give same as info before.

-Pressing skip buttons during playback doesn't work unless info pressed first.

-Cannot remove youporn from menu. Or alternatively, cannot block menu listing with pin.

-Cannot add web channels to favourite groups.

I have done the recent update.
So what is and how can we use IPTV?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 165 ✭✭PatchZ

I haven't done much about looking into IPTV (I don't have it connected to the internet) but it looks like you can stream video to the box either locally from your PC (using videolan player I think) or from online services. A translation of their help:

    What is My IPTV?
Starting from version 1.23B2 receivers Ariva 52E, 102mini, 102E, 150Combo, 152Combo, 202E, 250Combo and 252Combo are equipped with a function we IPTV. It allows for manual or automatic transmission adding video streaming over the Internet or local network using HTTP.

We recommend using the text of uploaded files from USB. The file must be named iptv.txt and located in the main storage directory. After that, the file should be placed channel information in the form: channel name comma http address and port as in the example below:

    Baracuda, http://112.49.96.134:8032/

Sample file from publicly available streamami dotępny is > here <

Please note that only supports HTTP Streaming H.264 video encoding and MP3 playback.

How to stream channels with VLC?

The simplest and also free software for this purpose is VLC. The determination downloaded directly from the manufacturer: http://www.videolan.org/

1.We start by making sure that the computer and the receiver are connected to the same local network.*
2.First, let us write the computer's IP address (in this example, 192.168.1.17)
3.Run the program and choose VLC Stream ...

    vlc_streaming_1.png

4.Select the file from video footage by clicking the Add ... (You can select multiple movies - will be played one after the other)
    5.Move on by clicking Stream

    vlc_streaming_2.png

6.In the next window select the HTTP protocol and click Add

    vlc_streaming_3.png

7.In the next step, select the option and select Activate Transcoding profile TS (H.264 + MP3)

    vlc_streaming_4.png

8.Click Stream and done - VLC already streamuje material on the net!
9.Go to the receiver, and the "My IPTV" to add a new channel.

While the name is arbitrary, the address must be in complete form and port: http://192.168.1.17:8080

    vlc_streaming_5.png

10.Confirm OK to add to the list
11.Select a new channel, click OK and wait for it to run

Warning about the new 1.23B2 firmware.
Watch out for problems if you use an external drive. The box unmounts it when it powers down, which is a much needed fix. BUT I see a problem now when the box restarts. I can hear the disk spinning up but failing to mount, spinning down and up again and is caught in this loop and never mounts. The upshot is I have to power down the drive and up again to get it to work. A real pain and serious bug.
The disk I use is an externally powered verbatim 500 GB disk, formatted for FAT32. Don't know if it relates only to this drive but I doubt it. I dropped back to the older firmware and the problem is definitely new. I've reported it to them.
