Not as confused as you seem to be. I think most people got the gist of it. It's not meant to poetic, "Joycean" or whatever else you ascribe to it.

It's actually a phenomenon which is seen right across the internet, regardless of the topic. The same can be said about relationships. Chin up OP. Like 4chan, Boards.ie is presented purely for entertainment purposes. The stories posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood - only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.

I would go as far as to say that anyone feeling a bit down and depressed would do well to avoid spending much time on Boards.ie and similar sites. They are corrosive to a positive life outlook, like a slow but powerful soul-destroying radiation.

Ah, boards.ie, or rather AH, is not representative of Irish people at all. There's a lot of negativity here. Irish people can be stereotyped as being "self loathing" but I find the self loathing MUCH worse here on boards than in real life. In real life Irish people are fun, sound, good craic, more positive "it'll be grand sure" attitude which I love

That said, threads come along on AH which make me literally burst out laughing with the comments - so AH does have some genuinely hilarious, witty and sound people who seem like they'd be good craic in real life. I haven't been on boards.ie for THAT long, but even I find myself thinking there used to be a lot more funny and interesting threads on here, with classic AH one-liners, wheras now there is just lots of racist, bitter, misogynist, díckhead comments. But then again, maybe nothing has changed and it is more that I spend more time on boards (I'm procrastinating more as I age

:pac:) so I notice it more.
