Mary Harney has been appointed to the board of India’s largest biotechnology company.

She was appointed a non-executive board member of Biocon Ltd last month.

Biocon was founded by Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, said to be India’s richest woman, who has extensive Irish links.

In 2001, Ms Harney appointed Ms Mazumdar Shaw to the board of Science Foundation Ireland.

I heard recently that she is a 75% owner of a local nursing home here. Mate of mine was at some swanky party he shouldnt have been at recently and she was at it slurpin away at the brandy with all the other shareholders for the place.
