Thankfully, every bloke I've dated (almost all Irishmen) didn't have a hairy arse. It looks disgusting!

...see thats whats wrong with this country - people following these outlandish foreign fashions, and neglecting the proud traditions of our forefathers. How could ye go off with some fella that doesn't have a bit of hair stickin out the back of his y-fronts? It's just wrong.....

Irish Tayto or Northern Irish Tayto? Different companies, probably a different recipe at this stage..

    King FTW.

Ah sure if we're gonna stick to traditions, I'll stop getting waxed. Damn foreign tradition, men should love women with a full body of hair!

You must be hangin around with these young ones that have the short hairless toes. Long hairy toes are the traditional Irish look.

Is Ireland the only country in the world where documenting a historical political struggle would be classed as trashy?

Maybe, maybe not. I do think there is an enormous amount of self-consciousness about our independence.

I'm not sure if I believe in a national psyche. If such a thing exists, maybe we are too young a nation to be fully comfortable in our own identity.

On a serious note, why not a picture of the Tara brooch or a picture from our magnificent book of Kells.

Mickey Rourke has an I.R.A tattoo because he identifies with the struggle of the Irish people. Get a tattoo of Mickey Rourke.

Irish women developed excess hair on their toes to aid gripping tree branches and keep them warm while hiding aloft from rampaging soldiery.

A French guy who did a lot of tattoo work on me (RIP) once had a guy come into his shop and ask for something "cool and Irish". This guy had a lot of IRA / Republican ink on him already, so it was obvious what kind of thing he was looking for. The artist (lovely guy) had the perfect response to his vague specifications a week later when the guy came back, and just had a sketch of Mr Tayto drawn up. Unfortunately, the guy stormed out, so the artist ended up tattooing it on his own shin.
That, IMO, is the perfect tattoo for anyone wanting to represent Irish History.

How about something subtle, just a single word like 'Saoirse' for freedom?
    Or 'Eire go brath'
Or a shape of the island of Ireland?

A friend of mine as the "G" logo, as in guaranteed irish, though not many people recognise that logo
