Cable box, Samsung and model horizon. Will only give you very basic control. All the direct access buttons (guide, recordings, on demand) are all sent by rf, meaning the harmony won't be able to send them

    Well tits

    thanks a mill

Gas... even rang UPC and they couldnt get a code for it

No worries, I was curious and found out that agora was otherwise branded as Kogan and I could find the SKY code for a Kogan from a random forum so matched another brand that used the same code from the sky list to the UPC list and there you go, 1500.

Are there any other manuals? The remote I got isn't the same as in manuals listed here, it's get a full QWERTY keyboard on the back, and I can't get my TV to work. I've tried the code for LG, 1628, but no joy.

most the remotes have the qwerty keyboard..... you sure you are inputting it correctly?

My current set up has the cable box in the living room downstairs but the modem up in a third floor bedroom where one of my housemates needs to be connected to the modem via Ethernet cable as he needs a reliable connection for work.
This has come up a few times on this thread. I use "powerline adaptors" (google, no link sorry) in my house to transmit to fixed devices (printer, "landline", NAS, etc.) not sure if the banwidth will be sufficient, but the pings should be good.

Since we've lost the ability to remotely set recordings has anyone even managed to set a reminder (the Horizon web guide gives you the option). When I try it I get an unable to do it message.

On a different note, does the fan on other people's boxes run continually. Mine goes even when in standby. It's in a well ventilated area ...

I wonder will UPC ever activate the 5Ghz wireless on the Horizon box, it would be a nice bonus if it did

Horizon seems really glitchy today for some reason sick to death of doing hard resets, seriously thinking about ringing them tomorrow and telling them to come and take it out. I know its a trial and we are being compensated but it wouldn't be half as bad if you could get some decent support at the end of the phone not the lottery of dialing 1908 and keeping your fingers crossed that you get someone that has been trained correctly or even someone that could be arsed helping you.

Has anybody else had the problem of the box recording something in standby and continuing to record, stuck in standby until you hard reset?

Happened twice since I got the box on thursday, was away on saturday and it recorded a single 1300 minute recording instead of modern family.

I have BBC and eurosport and setanta and stuff in HD. You have to pay a fiver extra for HD channels with all the bundles. The max bundles includes HD Discovery and History and stuff.

Mine's all working fine I must say so far. I had a couple of freezes, one of which spoiled the end of a movie I was watching and had paused. Now I'll never know if the Starship Enterprise made it back to the future safely or not. :(

One question - I have an Apple airport connected to the box. The engineer couldn't tell me whether or not I should continue to use it. He was pretty complimentary about the airport and reckoned if it was working ok then no harm to continue using it. Meant I didn't have to change passwords in all my connected devices as well. But I'd be interested to know the airport compares to the wireless routing of the Horizon box, is it better than the Airport?
My wifi is working fine so I've no complaints, just wondering like.

Because the regulator say they have to provide it for free

Yep, had that twice in the last 2 days to me also. Haven't checked the length of recording yet but couldn't switch the box with the remote or button on the front.

Much less devices use the 5ghz band so speed is generally better, range isn't as good, but the lack of devices using that band means there's not much of an appreciable difference

Happened to me too. Recorded a 310 minute episode of American dad!

I've had to reset the box twice today, the remote just stops responding. Happened once with live tv and once with on demand.

On demand seems very messy, episode numbers in TV series are messed up and the user interface is pretty clumsy.

Box fan seems to be on all the time, but it is pretty quiet.

Wifi reception is worse than with the old Cisco router, but I had the router set up in a better location.

I cant change the channel when I recording more than one program at a time.

I also keep getting security alerts saying that there is a flood attack from 192.168.192.2 - I assume thats coming from the box?

Has anyone succeeded in getting the parental controls to work? Time of day limits don't seem to have any effect at all.

Has anyone been able to connect horizon Ethernet sockets to other wireless cable router like belkin or netgear so you can use your own wireless router
I have this set up with the upc scientific Atlanta in separate computer room only broadband no tv from upc point
I got this from them when I got there broadband as I wanted to use my own wireless router and they were ok with this
I also have upc point with Tv in bedroom with digital + box
I have the horizon box arriving soon to replace the digital + box in bedroom but as I said the broadband is run from separate upc point with only broadband to upc scientific Atlanta then to my own wireless router
I have tv phone and broadband package with upc
I want to continue using my own wireless router as it gives very good range and is wireless n+
If anyone has connected the horizon to there own router did it work
I was told before I got accepted for horizon that in june I would be getting new router so I can get 50mb or more broadband
I have read reports the wireless router they now supply wont connect to other routers has this happened with the horizon box
I have 2 routers both wireless and can be set up as access point or bridge point or standard router mode all modes work with upc scientific Atlanta
Also what signal quality and range anyone getting with the wireless signal from horizon box is it good and can you stream HD videos with it to other room that's downstairs or upstairs as my router I use gives me that very good signal and strength to stream HD 1080P in my home by wireless connection
So please if anyone has connected the horizon Ethernet sockets to there own wireless router did it work
    Thank You
    Paul

Others have reported you can set the box to client mode and connect to an existing network using a ethernet cable or wireless.

The page to visit is here:
http://192.168.192.1/ username admin and password admin and change settings.

Getting my Horizon box today and have a few queries if any one can help.

Currently my modem is in a central location in the house where I have CAT6 cable running to various points around the house with the PC and TV hard wired. Also monitored alarm point have all been cabled to connect to the existing modem.
The TV cable is at the end of the extension where the Horizon box will be replacing the existing DVR box and modem.
I have two CAT6 cables running to the TV point in the extension at the end of the house. Using 1 of these cables is there a device that I can use to replace the exiting modem as like a junction box, continue to be able utilise the CAT6 cabling around the house and continue to use my existing cabling for monitoring the alarm.
I don't want to start running new cabling as all existing cables are hidden.

    Thanks
    Brian

If I understand you correctly what you're looking for is an unmonitored switch.

    Something like this:

Does anyone else have issues with the logos not matching the actual channel that your watching? So if Im changing up through the stations Sky1 shows as Sky1 and Sky2 is Sky2 and then BBC1 is Sky2 and BBC2 is Sky1?
