There is definitely something wrong with me, I never liked Knightmare at all.
I was too old for them!
    (queue old jokes)
I was a big fan of The Trapdoor though, the great Willie Rushton doing voices.
Great game on the Spectrum as well.
As for computers in tv, the older members here might remember the slight hullabaloo about the Channel 4 logo, when the station launched a being a sophisticated little cgi, at a time when such work was seldom seen.
Also, a show called Wired had an amazing title sequence, although I don't remember a screed about the shows content!

Blake's 7 is getting a remake, for anyone old enough to remember the original.

    Now that could be interesting.
The original was for grown ups where Dr Who was aimed at a younger mindset.
If it can be assured of a good run of a few years, get through the story properly.
The Liberator was a great ship, Orac not a great use of an extensive sfx budget though, a perspex box of fibre optics.
The weapons and teleport were cool tog.

Metal slug for Saturn for €28 no spine card or anything worth it?

It's a good game but there's a lot of slow down and sprite flickering on the saturn version.

You need a memory cart to go with that as well I think ?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,320 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Yeah, needs the 1 meg cart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,622 ✭✭✭✭OwaynOTT

Have loads of memory carts at this stage.
The Saturn would be the only way for me to play it at the moment. Got rid of my neo geo aes and couldn't have afforded it anyway.

Knightmare was awesome on the Amiga:

Not so good on the C64

Don't think I could ever get past the second screen...

Fück sake, I need two titles to own every red label game released by atari for the 2600. I've just put an offer in on one of them for €70, and even if i end up droppin that I may never get a chance to buy the last one.

    Retrogaming to the extreme!!

    Which ones are you missing?
You never know, someone might have it at home, gathering dust!

I'd be very shocked if someone did, but ok, if anyone has a red label Vanguard or Bmx airmaster for the 2600, hit me up!!

Your man has come back with a counter offer on Bmx airmaster of 90e, I'm goin to 80e and that's it! I have had this with him before when I was looking for Phoenix, he's very hard to get to move on his prices.

That reminds me... where the hell is my 4 in 1 cart Play Asia? C'mon it's been weeks!

It's shocking, I start reading one wiki page about something, before you know it I'm on ebay looking at games I'd not heard of before.
Right now I'm looking at the Battle Gear series on the PS2, principally Battle Gear 3 which looks amazing tbh

and it's far cheaper predecessor, Battle Gear 2, or Tokyo Road Race, as it was imaginatively titled in it's European iteration,

I'm going to get one of them for sure, I just love these interesting racers that popped up on the PS2, the series is still going in the arcades, with Battle Gear 4 being on the Taito TypeX format.

I have Tokyo road race. Picked it up in morrisons supermarket in England years ago for a fiver or something. It's a nice game but it just seems a bit lacking. Kaido racer is much better.

Just watching the latest AVGN episode, Toxic Crusaders. Its painful stuff, really bad. Lloyd Kaufman is so crass.

I can't stand Lloyd Kaufman. His films are as stupid and annoying as he is.

Boo-urns, Super Metroid PAL won't work on my US SNES :( At least F-zero runs proper speed now as does Cybernator. Someday I'll get past the second stage of cybernator.

If you think the first stage of that game is hard, wait till you get to the second asteroid field one. It's impossible! Makes Assault Suit Leynos 2 look like a piece of piss :pac:

What's wrong with your Super Metroid? Timing issues or piracy protection?

Turned it off after 6 mins. Terrible episode, that Lloyd chap is an idiot.

Its really dreadful isn't it. I know complaining about the crass'ness of an AVGN video is somewhat ridiculous, but at least Rolfe generally knows how to do it in a humorous way. That Kaufman fella is appallingly bad though, & not remotely funny.

Oh it's the asteroid field one that is giving me problems! Can get to the boss but never beat him.

I think Super Metroid is checking for the timing and locking out with a screen if it's not 50Hz. I might just have to source a US one, I'm pretty sure with Super Metroid being such a big game for nintendo and it being a late release that they optimised it for PAL.

Regarding Metroid on the Snes, isn't there a frequency detection thing, EnterNow has the skillz to fix your problem.
The work around will have to keep in mind whatever region mod it already contains though.
I have yet to perform the surgery on my Snes.
Might have a crack at it later on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

How is your Snes modded Retr0? If its the super cic one then there's a way to force boot 50Hz. If its modded with only a region switch, you'll need to have a 50/60Hz fitted too

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,320 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Just saw a comparison clip on youtube. It's a terrible PAL conversion. Must look into a frequency chip especially considering the prices that game goes for.

It's whatever Cidermans brother did to it. Think it might just be a PSU mod.
