Received my box this afternoon, and the courier took away my old box (but not my router). Had it all set up in 30 minutes. Phone not working, but I had problems with the phone with my previous UPC setup, so reckon the phone handset may be fecked.

    Couple of questions:
I've been using Serviio for a year or so make media available on my network via DNLA. The UPC box doesn't seem to pick it up. Anyone else use Serviio successfully? The Horizon box also doesn't seem to see my Samsung S2 or S3 via AllShare. Is Twonky the only option?

Neither of the HD channels (TG4 HD or RTE2 HD) will work properly. They stutter and don't play. Anyone else have the same issue? Are these the only HD channels available in the standard Horizon packages? Are the rest subscription-only?

I haven't tried Serviio - I installed xmbc on my Windows7 server and the Horizon box is able to see it and play most formats. (So far, won't play mp4)

Haven't tried it, but the options are certainly there.
    Configuration options:
    • Public Port Range
    • Target IP Address
    • Target Port Range
    • Protocol (UPD/TCP/Both)

I had my new horizon box installed today. Took them an hour to complete but too be fair it was their first one. The reason it took so long is they were trying to pair the box with a smart card and the new horizon box does not require a card.
Loving the box so far. Menus are much quicker and nice to have the cable tv box and modem in one.
There's a card in the back of my one, is it there for decoration ?

How long will the broadband upgrade take?

I've had my order confirmed and box is being delivered on Friday, going from 25mb to 100mb. Should the internet be upgraded instantly?

I jumped from 25 to 100 but did not get the update until the box was actually installed.

Speaking of which - anyone suffering from minor internet dropouts since having the box installed - connection has been a bit unstable since the installation.

Getting mine installed tomorrow and I rely heavily on the Internet so this does not sound good, has anyone actually done some before and after speed tests
I am currently getting about 40mb download on a 50mb package, when the horizon box is installed they are upgrading me to 100mb package and will report actual speeds as soon as everything is up and running

I guess I just got upgraded from 20 to 50.

This is from my iPhone 5 over wifi and a flight of stairs.

I wasn't expecting those speeds on a handheld wireless device

Anyone having issues setting up home network on the box, it seems to get to the menu but when I press create network it just sits there. Then If I go back to the settings menu it won't scroll down. Might do a factory reset and see if that helps but first impressions aren't that great. Plenty of bugs for sure

Same here. If you connect via cable to http://192.168.192.1/ (admin / admin) and set up the network from there.

Alternatively do a reset form the menu and try the wireless again.

We're stuck in an infinite loop with a hard reset which means the TV is gone. Apparently there new firmware out tonight which should fix/address some issues.

cheers, yeah i had already set up the wireless and changed network address range etc by logging into the web interface. it just didnt seem to want to create home network in the menu. after another reboot it eventually sorted it.

i can now see the media on my laptop but for some reason it wont pickup my Synology Nas.

Has anyone had the box delivered by DPD yet, do the couriers take any of your existing equipment with them or simply deliver the new box?
Well I got my answer, DPD just texted to say they will be collecting my old equipment tomorrow.

Is that just your existing set top box or will they take the modem/router aswel?

Should I keep the viewing card in the STD box for the new box if they take my current box away?
They are under instruction to take your existing digibox and card, and will leave you with your modem/router, so yes, you need to surrender your current viewing card.

The text I got just mentioned the box (it gave the serial number as well) so I won't be disconnecting my router.

My text mentions my router as well.

Technician told me today to keep on to the DVR and modem just in case the horizon packs up.

Yep. I was checking boards to see if anyone else had the same issue. Slow internet since install. Even dropping out every now and again.

Just got text from courier company asking me to ensure I have equipment 2moro. This is disappointing as I clarified with UPC today that ld have old box for a while incase any problems with new services. I also have programmes recorded which now won't get chance to watch. Anyone issues with this?

My speeds and range are excellent with the horizon box. I did have one problem at first but changing the wireless channel fixed that. It was setup for auto picking the channel and was picking channel 13 one of my devices kept loosing signal but its grand now.

Is there any way to reboot the box, without having to do a power cycle (i.e. flick the on/off switch)? The TV services have frozen a couple of times and it would be great to be able to restart the TV services without doing a full reboot.

Engineer arrived yesterday morning @ 9am as promised and installed the new box. Unfortunately I was not here as had to be in work. Got a text from my wife an hour and a half later stating that the TV is installed but we are still awaiting the BB and phone. I didn't think this was a problem as I thought they would be installed in time, however, got home from work that evening and there was still no BB or phone. got onto UPC and they could not do anything. They told me to ring back this morning for an "update". Called back at 9am this morning and the guy I was speaking to stated that the issue would be resolved with the hour. Left for work at 10.30am this morning but before I went done a reboot and nothing. Eventually got sorted mid afternoon.

Have to say loving the new setup on the horizon box. Great to navigate through. On my old setup I had a 30mb but got an avg of 20mb which was acceptable. I upgraded to 100mb and came home from work today and done a speed test and only getting 45mb. this is the only thing im not happy with. If anybody has any tips on speeding up id love to know but I will be getting onto UPC to see if they can sort it out.

Got box today, Could not set it as a client to my router/modem.
My router/modem was installed upstairs so I could directly connect my CPU via LAN..because of the crap Wi-Fi.
Now I have the same problem as before..Have 50mb but now I only get 20mb via Wi-Fi.
My house is a 3 bed terrace :(

    are you on wireless?

what are you using to test the speed as speedtest.net can be very unreliable

i have noticed that it sometimes takes a few days to actually change the speed from my pervous upgrades
restart the box every so often and check again.

Just one bit info to add about the IPhone app - hopefully not too off topic - but some might consider it important -
I've head from someone who tried it that the Horizon Player app wont run on a jailbroken IPhone.

Xcon on cydia will allow it to run, running ipad2 with jailbreak and horizon app.
    Hope this helps
