@celticfc: A cool and composed finish from the attacker as he finds the bottom corner. The young Hoops lead 1-0!!

Has that been confirmed? where is it being played?
I'm not sure, it was pending dispensation from the SPL last I heard, as it would require one of our games to be postponed - but that waiver was a part of the deal when moving the league forward so I think it's just procedural.

Can see the FAI raping everyone silly with ticket prices so might not go out of principle if that is the case, but it's sure to be a good weekend anyway.

Would be a good game, there were whisperings about us playing them for Gerrards testimonial in Dublin. But its a no go now.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon faces an anxious wait to discover whether he will be banned from the touchline for next month’s William Hill Scottish Cup final against Hibernian on May 26.

It is understood that he confronted referee Euan Norris as the official made his way to his dressing room after Celtic’s 3-1 defeat by Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday.

Lennon was unhappy with the award of a penalty to the home side following a coming-together between Charlie Mulgrew and forward Henrik Ojaama. Michael Higdon converted the spot kick to put Motherwell 2-1 ahead

The Sun is reporting that James Keatings & Robbie Thomson are to be released from their contracts at the end of the season.

I didnt think much of Keatings but I thought the club rated Thomson? Why not give him a contract and loan him out to another club for a year or 2?

Another rumour is that Rami Gershon is heading back to Maccabi Tel Aviv after his stint with Celtic.

Kenny Shiels has to clarify one of his rants. Maybe that will shut him up for 5 minutes :pac:

    More pettiness

Watch them sit on their hands when it comes to the way club football in Scotland is being run!

Could be interesting to see who lines up in Sundays game against Ross County with a number of regular players being rested again this week. A good opportunity to give starts to the likes of Watt and McGeouch as well as maybe look to introduce another player or 2 from the youth team that haven't played with the first team yet.

Have to say I was really surprised to hear that NL didn't get manager of the year thought he would have been a shoe in for this

It was a non event wasn't it. That pitch was beyond a disgrace. I remember the shocking state of Fir Park in recent years but jeeze that pitch yesterday made Fir Park look like a bowling green by comparison.

I understand pitches are not always going to be perfect but that was a joke.

So does a perfectly good goal not given not count as a highlight then?

Pitch a shocker, not an excuse, but simply not good enough at this level. My garden has a better surface than that pitch ffs.

CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce today that Glasgow City Council has passed a Celtic planning proposal which will see the transformation of Celtic Park.

Following today’s decision, the first phase of development will see the creation of a new public realm area, dramatically changing Celtic Park. The development will provide a new pedestrian avenue leading to the stadium for supporters, a new attractive public space, and the whole area leading to the stadium will be fully landscaped, providing an approach to Celtic Park which is befitting of one of the world’s great football arenas.

Work will now begin on putting contracts in place and it is hoped that the first phase of the development will be completed in time for the start of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The completion of further phases of development will also see a range of additional facilities around the stadium.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “This really is fantastic news for the club and is something which will allow us to completely transform Celtic Park, providing a stunning new public realm area for the benefit of our supporters.

"For so many years Celtic has been a fundamental part of the East End of Glasgow - this development represents real positive regeneration of the East End, something to which we are totally committed.

“The club is in great shape on and off the field and today’s news allows us to build on these strong foundations and take the club forward once again.

"We have enjoyed a fantastic 125th anniversary season, delivering success to our fans and making a real impression across European football.

"Today’s announcement lets us build on this great season. It means we can look ahead to more exciting times for Celtic and our supporters as we continue to progress the club in the right direction and show that Celtic continues to be one of the world’s leading football clubs."

    Sounds good

Strong rumours once again that Kevin Doyle will be in the hoops next season.

What does everyone think about this?

    Please god no! :(

Hasnt played well in a long time and I dont think he'd justify his wages.

The saga to find a decent alternative to Steven Fletcher continues! :pac:

No thanks. Doesn't score anywhere near enough goals. Given Wolves relegation he will be moving for sure but would not see him as anything other then a squad player based on who we have. So no thanks for me.

Looking forward to Trophy presentation day on Saturday. Have to sneak away from a first communion to get down on time but surely the big man up there won't mind :D

    Anyone else going over??

Anyone worried that the moves and shakes in the Premiership could ultimately end up with Lenny moving on? I think it's unlikely at present, but possible. He wouldn't be a bad choice for Everton with a few more years under his belt, but I wonder if a vacany came up elsewhere would he go for it?

No. Lenny has a few more years of learning his trade before going to England, if that's his long term aim. He has said that he has ambitions to manage in the EPL at some stage. If he can make Celtic a permanent regular team in the CL Group Stages year in year out over the next few seasons then he'll eventually be offered a job bigger than Everton. Times have changed but Neil Lennon as a manager - like many others - models himself on Alex Ferguson. He will know that Ferguson remained at Aberdeen until he achieved consistent and tangible success at domestic and European level, and turned down offers from the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Wolves as well as Rangers, and didn't move until the plum job offer at Man United came along.

Neil Lennon can bide his time - and so long as he gets excellent results in Europe for Celtic over a consistent period of years - he'll get a shot at a big club in England if that's what he wants. Everton aren't a big club, they're also rans who have punched above their weight under David Moyes, and yet have won nothing during his time there.
