Really nice looking car, pictures don't do it justice

IMO, they're just too big tbh, I think the saloon isn't a looker but the interior is nice. Certainly won't be lusting after one anyway! :D

Has the advert been changed?

'04 Daewoo Nubria, bit of tax, long nct, 120k miles, and looks to be straight enough for €2700?

Nothing to do with the steep asking price but he also mentions "Current insurance €500 FTTrd P". Its not very clear but I assume FTTrd P means for third party cover. Surely somebody that drives should realise that motor insurance premiums vary greatly depending on the individual.

12 year old 200k miles no test 1.9tdi bora asking €1650.... almost in dreamer territory already

then the punch line! no engine and a 200k miles chassis €1650 LOL

    1650 / Pi = 525

    realistic asking price = €525

I thought it was expensive and then seen it needed an engine complete dreamer.

I like opinions on this, my mate wants to go have a look at this but I'm convinced nobody in there right mind would buy a car from new, hold on to it for 14 years, care for it and then sell it with just over a month left on the nct "and will pass again no problem" without there being something massively wrong with it: http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/5010440

Seems rather well priced to me, alas as stated what's potentially gone on it?

If it checks out then snap it up!

I have just sold a car that I owned from new for a simillar time and had it pass the NCT just before I sold it as I would expect a purchaser to think as you do. However, if you try and book an NCT test, you will be offered dates in two or three months time. Not useful if you want to sell it now.

If the seller has all the old NCTs (7 in all) and the detail results shows passes with room to spare then 'it should pass - no problem'. It should have passed a year ago, and if they had not changed the rules, would still have a year to go and you would accept that.

If you need more info, ask the seller. Ask for a guarantee that it will pass or money back.

To me thats just silly logic. Although I have myself bought cars before without NCT's or very little NCT left on them I have bought them on the basis that I might be lucky and pass the next NCT while at the same time bought them on the basis of knowing full well that I might be unlucky and fail the test.... If I'm not too unlucky fail for something small and I might have to spend a few quid on it or if I'm unlucky something so major or the sum of a number of issues as to render the car an economic write off.

Difference being I wouldn't be spending the thick of €3,000 or buying into the sellers bullsh!t that the car will pass with flying colours or fly through the test no problem, blah blah blah etc etc.

It may well end up being a costly assumption to assume it will pass again without any major problems based on the fact that it passed a year back. You cant know for certain how the car was driven or treated in the meantime.
If you need more info, ask the seller. Ask for a guarantee that it will pass or money back.

Take the car to a garage before a NCT to get checked over and although most will likely give you a good indication whether it'll pass or fail I don't think any will absolutely guarantee that it will pass. I'm not entirely sure how an individual who is not a mechanic could guarantee you that the car will pass:confused:. Aside from that I think you might find it very difficult to actually enforce such an agreement in the case of a private seller.

How stupid are people to think that these photos are sufficient to help sell their cars?

    Thats a find alright.

    Needs:

Repaint - €1500 (looks to far gone and will need spraying in parts anyway.
    Exhaust - €400
    Rear Light - €100
    Front Bumper Repaired - €100
    Battery - €60
    Rear bumper aligned/fixed - €150
    Tax & NCT (no doubt) - €750
    Alloy refurb - €400
    Aerial sorted out - €100

After all that, it MIGHT be worth €1,750 - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4441902

I bet you could have that car on the road and sorted out for under €10k!
