I was wondering why this guy had pitching stats when I checked my fantasy teams on the way to work. If this goes on much longer we'll see some batters having to pitch. Anyone remember Chris Davis last year...

It was against the Red Sox and he ended up been the winning pitcher. That after going 0-8 in the game itself as a hitter.

Now this is rock bottom! Getting swept by the Marlins. Did you ever think you'd be hearing that about any team this season? They don't even have Stanton. I can't believe I rushed home from work to watch this rubbish.

EDIt - Mets back in it now but considering they've lost the last 2 games when they've gone into the 9th or later innings up by a run on 3 occasions, they're going to need a few more.

7-4 now. I'm can't relax though unless it's about 15-4. The mets bullpen can't be trusted

Definitely not, a 3 run lead is not enough for this Mets squad. A grand slam would be nice :)

And there goes the 3 run lead. Atchison needs to go!

EDIT - At last, they win a game. I know it's nothing to get excited about beating the Marlins but after the week they've had and the fact that they nearly blew this one as well, I think I'm allowed to have a small smile on my face.

A much needed win, I'm relieved.

They've just pulled out the tarp. It's about time, the weather was ridiculous.

Yep, I have waited through rain delays at games that havn't been as bad that! Commentators were saying both teams were desperate to get the game in so they dont have to play on the only common day off they have left this season. Looks like they will probably have to now...

Buster Olney was talking about this on this on yesterday's Baseball Tonight podcast. Basically there have been a load of games snowed/rained out so far this season involving teams that only pass through that city once a season so next year the schedulers are going to plan it so in cold weather cities they're only going to arrange intra-division games early in the season so if a game is called off, they can easily re-schedule when the teams play there again later in the city. Of course there's no fool-proof plan and you're not going to eliminate all instances like this but it will help.

Of course next season they'll overload the early schedule with games played in the south and they'll probably be calling off games for tornadoes

I don't think they'll change the number of games played up north in April. They'll still have the same number of home games, they'll just be against teams in their own division. Teams in cities with better climates don't want to play more home games in April as revenues are traditionally lower than they are in the summer months.

The O's extend their streak of winning when leading after 7 innings to 106 consecutive games, but they did it the hard way.

How we were only 4 runs up by the middle of the 7th is beyond me. Might have something to do with decisions like letting a back up catcher bunt with 2 on, no outs, having never seen the catcher bunt before!

Once the A's got back to 4-4 I thought we were done, but Steve Pearce came through in extras :D

Compounding the Angels' troubles which is always nice to see.
    They're 11-19 now
How is that even possible with a 2-3-4 punch of Trout, Hamilton and Pujols?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,907 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

What a disaster of a third inning for the mets. five runs scored.

Well there are a few reasons. Their pitching isn't that good, their starting rotation isn't great especially without Weaver and there bullpen is so-so. Secondly the 3 players you mention havn't really produced, Hamilton has been playing like he couldn't care less, Pujols is playing hurt and Trout only started hitting this week.

Speaking of players having a bad season, Doc Halladay has just been shelled for the second time this week. This time by the Stanton-less Marlins

Bad result tonight alright but in the positive side, Zach Wheeler had another good start for Las Vegas today so it looks like after a shaky start to the season he looks like he might be getting it together. Hopefully they'll give him the call up soon if he puts together another good start or two.

I really feel for the guy. I think they need to get him out of the rotation soon and use him as a reliever for a month.

By second half of the season they'll be too far behind nats and braves to compete.

He's likely going on the DL
