Finally, the season is starting, spring training seems to have been going on forever. I see ESPN America have quadruple header on Monday for opening day aswell as tommorrow nights game.

    Boston at NY Yankees 18:00
San Francisco at LA Dodgers 21:00
    Philadelphia at Atlanta 00:00
    St. Louis at Arizona 03:00

This is the sort of wall to wall coverage of sports I like to see :)

More action in the AL East Tuesday night when the Orioles travel to the Rays - Hammel vs Price

Keith Law as per usual has no love for the Orioles as has picked them to finish last in the division

I only had streams last year which were ok I suppose

The MLB.TV at 140 dollars was excellent value, signed up last month

I've paid at least twice that for the NFL gamepass and that's just for the regular season, the playoffs and offseason were even more again.

For anyone who doesn't subscribe, keep an eye on the daily free games they have on there. Tomorrow's is the Padres @ Mets.

Yeah, and what should be great games too. I've Tuesday off work as well so I'll see how long I can last.

Looking forward to seeing my Red take on the Angels today......opening day is always a special day in Cincinnati, in fact, beginning last year, it's officially a city holiday.

We also have the return of Josh Hamilton to Cincinnati (put him in CF in the reds current lineup and see how good they'd be)

And not to forget that it's the first opening day interleague game.

    GO REDS!

I just watched both of them.....of course it's a great start to the season for him......but they were 2 terrible pitches, belt high, right down the middle

Apple TV is about €100 and has the app built in. If you use Netflix as well it's definitely worth it. Just as an alternative to buying another console!

    I'll investigate.
My problem is the tv is pretty old, so not sure I have the necessary ports!

I'll second that (if you're TV has a HDMI port). MLB on it is perfect. Also register an American Itunes account and get movies earlier than when they come out here if you're into that sort of thing.

ESPN put together this shocking statistic from the Reds v Angels games......two teams who's lineups are filled with power bats.....combined to go 9 for 87 yesterday....an average of .103

Good pitching should outdo good hitting and there were 2 good starters on the mound yesterday.

Yeah....pity we lost our starting LF on a hustle play while one of those pitchers was arguing with the ump

Yep, Nolasco hung those pitches up there to be hit and the best hitters feast on those. Nats crowd were throwing out the MVP chants during the game and all :)

As a Padres fan, I should have remembered to stay away from baseball until at least May.

Volquez as an opening day starter. Ugh....

The Blue Jays catcher is having awful trouble catching RA Dickey's knuckleball. 3 passed balls eliminating the chance of doible plays in the first two innings. And it has cost them 2 runs

Man right through his legs. What a shame.

Still, a 1 hitter is pretty good. :D

Was watching the Astros - Rangers game earlier they had an interesting stat about Ks at the end. The Astros as a team have whiffed 43 times and only had 4 walks in 26 innings

They will be making history for the wrong reasons if they continue like that...

Top of the league on goal difference haha....!!!!!

Seriously though, the Padres pitching has been awful in the 1.5 games so far so I wouldn't read too much into it. Apparently the Mets have the second easiest April schedule based on last year's records (Rangers have the easiest) as well so even if they go 12-6 or whatever, I still won't be expecting too much from the season.

So are the Marlins hitters that bad or is the Nationals pitching that good? 16 innings so far, 0 runs

A combination of both. For me the Nats have the best pitching while the Marlins have the worst batting lineup in the NL...

Can only beat what is in front of you. I'm a mets fan and a Philadelphia eagles fan so I know all about not getting your hopes up as they always seem to promise much but deliver little. The mets and eagles ? Am I a saddist ?

Some early closer glitches for Detroit, let a 1 run lead slip in the 9th to the Twins to lose 3-2.

Their bullpen is a mess. Had planned on Rondon but he was brutal over Spring training.

Gotta love sitting at your desk at work on a thursday afternoon watching live baseball.

FYI.....the Reds have won every game I've been to this season. :)

They're obviously worried seeing that they've just signed Valverde to a minor league deal.

    You forgot about Marmol.

He's doing his best to throw this away. 2 on bottom of the 9th and it's 3-2.

Edit: Cubs win, never in doubt to be honest :pac:

Yep I'm on it every morning on the Luas to work, great way to catchup on the previous night's action. HD stream is perfect over 3G.

Mets started of the season well , 2 good wins followed by a poor loss last night. Neise and Harvey are looking good.

Mets started of the season well , 2 good wins followed by a poor loss last night. Neise and Harvey are looking good.

I watched all 3 games and the Padres very very poor, especially their starting pitching in the first 2 games. But when they had a pitcher who was just alright (and that's all he was), the Mets hitters struggled and struck out an awful lot which was one of the big fears coming into the season. I'll take 2 out of 3 wins in any series if you offered it to me but the hitting yesterday has me worried going forward.

The Mets have the second easiest schedule in April so in theory should be alright after the first month but even if they are, they're not a very good team and I think that'll all reveal itself by May.

I agree, Harvey looked very good and can't wait to see more of him going forward. Niese and Gee should be alright and will be typical middle of the order starters but there's no depth. Marcum will be on the DL more often that not I'd say and after that we're down to Hefner and Laffey (who?) who will probably struggle. And the pen has me worried too despite them saying it's much better than last season. Familla was awful last night, Hawkins awful the night before and I don't hold much faith in any of the rest of them, bar Parnell.

Another plus/minus last night was that while D'Arnoud apparently was pretty good for Las Vegas last night, Wheeler struggled so he's not the saviour yet!
