Could someone post a link to the app in the iTunes store - the one that allows you to control the Horizon box from an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

    Where did you hear this?

Thats ridicluous! No port forwarding and no more static IP's?

I don't understand why this is an issue? Just use dyndns.org.

After the hard sell, asked to speak with the techs as had issues before with internal aerial routers and wifi signal across multiple devices. Was told that system regularly reloads and changes IP on the horizon box, old UPC systems aren't static but as modem is separate to TV box don't have this problem unless you upgrade change your speed. The new tech in the horizon box requires regular updates. Guess this is the same as the reload on the HD box currently. Only way to get a static ip is to get a business package?
Also confirmed in the internal router has no port forward, would have to look at creating a bridge. Didn't go into that, have read from Dutch forums its not the easiest, especially when the box is playing up, it regularly drops the phone line in this when it isn't in charge of all functions?
With all this just decided to stick with what I have and let you guys see if you can find a way around the issues.

Current IP is free hasn't cost a cent host names are just an added expense.

Got the new RC,much better then the last one, qwerty keyboard on the back and
the box looks like it updated itself last night, haven't had a proper look yet.

And there is a back button, just not marked as a back botton:D

dyndns is free though for their basic 'hostname to IP address' package, I use it all the time so that I can connect to my server at home and not have to worry about knowing the right IP.

UPC has never been advertised as having a static IP it's just been a happy coincidence of their DHCP lease times as of yet, there's no point in complaining about something that you weren't supposed to be getting anyway.

On my server I had a dyndns app installed that constantly rechecks the external IP address and updates my dynamic host accordingly, it's seamless.

A one top setup for added benefit to using the same IP all the time.

I prefer this one! Feels much better!

New software downloading now! Don't think I've to give the old one back. I've been using a logitech harmony since I got the box!

My biggest problem with UPC is the extremely slow user interface compared to sky, just done a test there and wonder if someone could compare times with the new box would be interesting to see

From watching a channel to fully loading Guide :28.7 seconds
Wow just timed this with my iPhone and was surprised at the length of time, I always knew it was long but 28.7 seconds is ridiculous

    About 2 seconds!
That's to get to the basic All channels view.

I don't know what they're doing to our service atm, yesterday all our channels locked and I rang up, they had to cancel the horizon order to fix it, that fixed it and I reordered and now the HD channels are gone??

Have to say, just got the new software update and WOW... it's soooooo fast now!

Just getting access denied on HD channels, but yesterday it was every channel. The channels would then skip from 102 to 201 etc. the sooner the better we get a new box!

I've yet to get an email saying I've been accepted for the trial but I have got a couple suggesting I have been selected including the offer of two bundles (50 and 100 Mb). Anyone else in the same both boat?

Got it here too. To be honest, it's not very appealing to me.

At present I pay 76.25 for 120Mb, Freetime world phone and HD Select extra. (discounted)

A couple of weeks ago I was told to expect a free upgrade to 150Mb along with the price increase - now there's no mention of this and I have the choice of 50 or 100 Mb, paying 78.50 for the privilege.

I also lose my HD, unless I pay extra. I lose my router and I lose my current recordings.

I'm thinking of pulling the plug altogether on the TV pack and moving to the Freesat entirely (already have a Freesat TV and dish). I'd been waiting for my contract to expire. Good time I think to bite the bullet.

    I just learned something new.
I appears the new remote (with the keyboard) isn't Infrared!!
I tried to learn some commands on my Harmony Remote and couldn't find the IR port.
Further investigation and I couldn't see it with my camera. I put the new remote under my jumper and it still worked!
Don't know what command it's using, I don't think Wifi, must be bluetooth or something else. weird!
Hoping that Logitech Update their Database with the new commands soon.
The Logitech still work and the new functionality is there on the buttons that work, but the Info / Guide buttons don't as I can't program them just yet.

Yes I got the same e-mail at 19:15:

Check out the two fantastic bundles below that will be
available for you buy. You’ll be invited to place your order
on our website in the next few days.

    Horizon Select 50Mb Bundle €63.50
    • Select Extra TV including Horizon.
Over 90 channels and all the
    benefits of Horizon TV.
    • Unlimited Fibre Powered 50Mb

    Horizon Max 100Mb Bundle €73.50

    • Max TV including Horizon
Over 110 channels and all the
    benefits of Horizon TV
    • Unlimited Fibre Powered 100Mb

    Also says:
When you are accepted onto the trial you will be required to move to a new bundle. You will be asked to provide feedback on your experience of the service which will be used to ensure the service offers the best experience when we launch to the public.

I'm not taking up on the trial if I have to go on to one of these bundles, I have loyalty discounts that I'm sure would be wiped by ordering one of those online.
