    It's unlikely that I will be doing Portumna marathon now so I am in :pac:
    I have plenty of drinking practise but no speed drinking done for years, so i am not sure how the stomach will react....what's the story with beers, 330ml cans or bottles is it?

    I would prefer trinity but not sure if Kilgobbet mightn't be the safer option, usure how to vote on venue for that reason.

    You also have the Luas from Stephens Green to Cherrywood which is only a 10minute walk away.

    +1 would prefer Trinners but being realistic I don't need the additional stress associated with security etc, need to focus all my energy on the mile :)

    Kilbogget is fine for me too, would be handy if a few people are travelling from the city centre to maybe meet up and travel together (yes, I am incredibly green when it comes to using public transport in Dublin, was only on a Dublin bus once in my life! :P).

    I think the nearby Luas seals the deal for Kilbogget. Trinity on a Friday evening will be mental, especially if the sun comes out.

    I'm flying out the following morning for my wedding :eek: so I'll need to build some serious brownie points beforehand to take part, but I'd love to give it a go.

    In the event that it takes place in Kilbogget, I'm happy to meet people off the LUAS and escort them to the beer stadium. It's a mile away, so an easy warm-up jog (that should see the beer nice and foamed up :)).

    I love running and I love a few beers but I fear when I combine these two loves all hell is going to break loose :) I reckon I'm going to be crap at this but am not willing to put the training in that pisco sour did for his recent attempt. I've put the date regardless of location into my diary anyway :)

    Cans need to be 355Ml minimum as per the rules, obviously based off American sizes (12oz). Do we bend rules and use our standard 330's? I think the new bottles of Corona are now 355 but bottles would be slower. ?

    I actually think bottles might give a steadier flow that you can consume at a good pace without problems. I think there could be some research into the perfect beer for this - less gas and easiest to consume quickly.

    Definitely up for this. There's a track out in Kilbarrack too. Probably much the same as the one suggested by KC only on the other side of the city. Here's a picture I took when suggesting it for another discussion on the same matter. I imagine a large crowd of young uns (and not so young uns), dressed in sports gear and knacker drinking would be equally inconspicuous out there.

    Ok I originally voted trinners, by having read the thread, Kilbogget sounds like a better spot. Well up for this!

    Edit: Kilbarrack should be put into the poll too.

    Can we reset the poll to exclude Trinity and include Kilbarrack (which may be more suited in terms of public transport/access to city)?

    (and is also much closer to where I live!)

    +1 - the likelihood of getting thrown off the track in Trinity is not too insubstantial. Last thing we want is for a large group to show up and then not to be able to run the event or worse still, have to abandon it half way through

    This is my worry. Maybe somebody could do a recce/training session one Friday and see if they get chased away by security :)

    Cool- How do I change the poll and I'll do it- I'm coming around on kilwhateverthefeckitis..... I do see the pitfalls w/ trinners although I might just have to head there on a Friday soon to lead the security dudes on a drunken squirrel hunt lol.

    Looking like a decent amount of interest. Anyone techie enough to help live stream it?

    Oh and one thing that could completely rule kilbarrack out- are there any pubs close that we don't run a risk of being shot in?

    I was going to suggest Kilbarrack the other night when this came up. It would be okay in principle, and would be closer to me too which is always a good thing. Theres a pub right beside the track which i think is where Roddy Doyle's The Van movie is filmed? (i think, could be the snapper). Read into that what you will. The Cedar Lounge isnt too far away which may be a bit more suitable for afters. We would probably need dedicated security on the treasure trove of cans/ bottles, but dressed in running gear and skulling beers, we would fit right in.

    Scenes from the snapper were actually filmed in the Cedar lounge (cedars), a really good local boozer and about 12 mins walk from the track. The foxhound inn is beside the track.....perfectly ok, but not the best pub in the area imo.
