Personally i think there is an argument for half the team to be on the list. No one will convince me Andrew Shinnie has a place ahead of Kris Commons.

Just read the quotes from Lennon, it is quite clear he is merely using the perceived snub as a motivating factor for the cup final, which is all that matters for the next while.

Has anyone heard these George Boyd rumours? By all accounts he sounds like a good Championship player who will have a fair few clubs after him as he's available for free. Meant to be a fairly skilful left sided/behind the striker type player. Bit of a poor man's GMS really (my #1 signing for the summer) but if we can get him on a free it may be more realistic than whatever DUFC will be demanding, should they even want to sell to us.

Yeah I think that's what he's at. I don't think he gives a fook about player of the year awards and is using the snub as motivation. The siege mentality "everyone's against us" motivation is an old trick with managers.

Ambrose, Wilson, Ledley and Commons are away on holiday, so won't be available for Saturday.

Who will play CB? Rogne and Mulgrew...maybe Wanyama.

    I'd go for something like
    .....................Zaluska
    Matthews Wanyama Gershon Mulgrew
    McGeouch Kayal Rogic Samaras
    .................Hooper Stokes

I really don't rate Rogne at all, he's made of glass. He rejected our contract so hopefully he's off at the end of the season if he doesn't want to be here.

I expect Wanyama to play centre back v Motherwell like he did last time at Fir Park to cope with the physical threat from Higdon.

I'd be more interested in the return of the safe standing areas which was due to trial next season. Any word on that and if its going ahead?

I presume it has been put off

Lenny v Kenny:pac:. Kenny talking about paranoia and trying to make a name for himself, a bit obvious but fair play to him I suppose. Lenny wont begrudge him - that would be bitter:).

I'm sure if Shiels was in Lennon's position he'd say the same thing. Fenlon thinks Lennon has a right to be annoyed. Which one of the nominated players would make the Celtic team? None of them. McGinn could barely make the bench!

Good to see managers having a go at each other rather than saying things that tries desperately to please everyone though.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,940 ✭✭✭BhoscaCapall

Griffiths would make our team, but I see your point.

Celtic getting to the Last 16 with the budget we have and the group we were in is a much bigger achievement than whatever the shortlisted players managed (i.e. nothing really), but as I said this season was always going to be about how the other teams got on. It does look a bit classless to moan that someone else finally has the spotlight, even if it is undeserved.

Just read Shileds interview there and tbh he goes a bit far, he insults the entire club by labelling them Paranoia FC, insults Lenny by calling him egotistical and claims James Forrest receiving YPOTY last year was an injustice. He then talks about who he considers to be manager of the year and names 5 managers without mentioning Lenny. And to cap it off he says that Celtic 'only' winning the league by the End of April would have been considered impossible at the beginning of the season.

 who pissed in he's cornflakes!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,940 ✭✭✭BhoscaCapall

Probably just mad that we didn't take the league seriously and still strolled it while his smackhead club couldn't make the top 6.

Sheils is a strange man. Craves attention and spouts nonsense all the time.

Glasgow city council rejected our proposals for that im sure.
NEIL LENNON will BOYCOTT the PFA dinner after his Celtic players were snubbed.
The majority of his title-winning squad are likely to shun the awards bash on May 5 as well.
SunSport can also reveal that several senior Parkhead stars are threatening to withdraw their PFA membership
    .

urgh this isn't going to do us any favours is it? We get a raw deal often enough without fuelling the fire.

Nobody is entitled to POTY nominations, even if it's difficult to see why they didn't get any. To snub the event is childish imo.

Boycotting the awards seems a bit OTT, someone needs to have a word with Lenny to calm him before this gets stupid.

Nobody is but when no players is nominated from a team is on course for a double and excelled in Europe you are entitled to stick up your two fingers to the whole thing if you like.

Personally, I think this is fuel for the fire, well played Lenny! :pac:

Hopefully this motivates them for the final.

I'm sure any sane person can see Celtic should have had players nominated for the award but it's not really something to get worked up about. Lenny should have left it at yesterdays position of saying it was ridiculous, talk of a boycott shows it's got under his skin and he shouldn't be letting minor things like this wind him up IMO.

Is there any quote from a player about boycotting?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,940 ✭✭✭BhoscaCapall

Yeah tbf I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the boycott stuff is typical media tripe.

Don't see anything about a boycott on the Beeb or SSN websites.

Isn't Victor Wanyama up for the YPFA award? Lenny is entitled to make his grievance heard and use it as motivation, but I don't see the point in not turning up for the awards ceremony. He should turn up, that would embarrass them even more.

No idea but Lenny should be there IMO

EDIT: Or more to the point he should not be saying he is staying away because none of our players are nominated

On the other hand, Lenny has been watching Alex Ferguson at work. Ferguson has made an art out of seeking motivation for his players by creating a siege mentality when it suits him to do so. Celtic need motivation especially at domestic level and I think Lennon is prepared to use whatever grievance that crops up as motivation. After his touchline ban he said a storm is coming for the SFA, I'd say he's prepared to be enemies with the authorities in Scottish football when it suits him for motivational purposes. Still, I'll wait to see if this boycott rumour is true before taking the word from The Sun.

This has nothing to do with the SFA, its the SPFA that are organising this award

I think the difference being the English media love Fergie whereas the Scottish media go to every length to make Lennon's job as difficult as possible.

Anyway he was on Twitter a short while ago and didn't mention it, for what it's worth.

Yeah I know but if he is looking for motivational tools like Ferguson does, it's not just the SFA that he would use. Ferguson didn't talk to the BBC for years, that had nothing to do with the FA in England.

Ferguson took the huff over a report into his son's work as an agent. It was more personal not a stance for the club. The report didnt tell people much they didnt already know but he took exception to it. I dont think Ferguson or his players got up for a match thinking "Lets do this because of that BBC show".

Siege Mentality works when you pick the right battles, this is one of them because the players also feel insulted.
    Neil Lennon ‏@OfficialNeil

Club POTY on Sunday night, i hope to see you there...maybe one of our players might even get a nomination at it

My money is on Billy McKay getting the award:pac:
