Wow, that new poster is fricking *terrible*; not just hideously put together (go team Photoshop!), but conceptually as well. Posing with guns ... sigh.

With all these spoilered replies now I really wanna watch that trailer

I'd advise against it, way too much in it and, if it helps, I regret watching it.

    Dr.Carol Marcus looks well.

The first Star Trek was kept more under wraps right until the release, so in the cinema it was a real surprise for me, didn't know they would destroy Vulcan and the alternate time-line story was great.

I just hope that they haven't given away too much in these trailers, I might be wrong and it's just the first 15 minutes of the film but ... :(

The Sun has published the first UK TV Spot for the film.

    How spoilerific is it?

    Very.

It looks awesome though. I can't wait. :D

saw, well avoided a pretty long trailer for this before Oblivion was practically going "ahalalalalalala" to myself trying not to watch it

My advice is NOT to watch it. There's a moment that gave me shivers.

    Dahhh-yum, i couldn't help myself.

Would echo the above ....don't watch it. Super-spoilerific.

Hmmm, might as well comment on it:
That ship looks like a hybrid of Enterprise-D and E
    .

Ha; someone should tell Abrahms he's not working on Star Wars just yet - maybe it's my imagination, but in the clip below the enemy ship (Klingon?) makes a very TIE-fighter'y noise ~14seconds in:

Trailer doesnt look too great to be honest. I think this could be a disappointment. Hope Im wrong.

I won't link the image directly in case it is considered spoilery but for anyone who has seen the trailer....

    Awesome! :)

I did the exact same thing in The Swan Cinema. It seemed to go on for ever

I can't say much but I have two friends who have already seen this through official channels. Both for work, one is a trek fan the other is not.

Both found it highly enjoyable. Lots for trek fans and non-fans alike. There are a number of moments where the trek fans are rewarded for their fandom. I can't and won't say any more.

Booked 2 tickets for 9th May in 3D Imax in Manchester :p

So then that must be the
ship that we see crashing into the ocean in the trailer.

    Perhaps though
I thought it looked like it might be the Enterprise that was rising back out of the water in one of the early trailers
. I'm very interested to know where
that ship comes from anyway. Is it just a hijacked dreadnought class starfleet ship? Is it from the future?
    .

I'll be avoiding any further promos or trailers now. I don't think they'll ruin it like what happened with Iron Man 3 but I'm not taking that chance :)

    Well they did the
dodgy time travel plot in the first one so they really need to leave that one alone.

If i had access to a meme site in work you can be assured that i'd be doing up a picture of the borg with "We are Spoilers, resistance is futile"

Watch at you peril,it may or may not contain a spoiler.
Seems as if there are bad guys already planted in Kirk's crew.

Spoiler-texted for those with supreme allergies (though if so, why are you even here reading this?)
Oh wow, the main antagonists is in the custody of the good-guys & he's busying himself with some taunting; hey - do you think he might escape? Or that he always wanted to be captured in the first place; that events preceding were just a cunning ruse to infiltrate the ship all along & further his diabolical plan?

Ok, I'm reading a lot into one scene, but I'm guessing Cucumberbatch isn't going to stay behind bars / glass for very long & as a concept, it's one of the more overused, predictable and lazy clichés in dramatic storytelling. The Avengers, Dark Knight, Skyfall, X-Men, Silence of the Lambs, the list goes on. Sure it might seem like a clever idea on paper, inverting the prisoner-captor dynamic, but it has been done so very, very often it's a bit lame they're using it here

Read a couple of early, generally spoiler-free, reviews & they seem broadly positive - suggestions that having completed the reboot and necessary exposition, this just drives on with its new mythology.
As the promotions have suggested, the tone is darker & a little more cynical than the first film (arguably against the spirit of Roddenberry but hey-ho) and important core elements such as the Kirk-Spock relationship are still there & solid. Apparently the lens flare persists ;)

Going by that clip Chris Pine seems to be an even worse actor than William Shatner.

There is just something about Pine's voice in the trailers so far what makes him sound like a 30-stone man who just ate 4 burgers.

Having said that, I think the emotion you see in the scene is caused by something that happens earlier. I'm speculating, but am almost 100% certain that this happens -
    Pike is killed by Harrison

If the Spoiler you speak of is true. Would that not meen the end of the current Star Trek Franchise or does **** come back from the dead in Star Trek 3 ?
