Wow, mad that they're fielding such a first team, they could ship a few injuries

They need to win to nearly confirm a home semi final as Toulouse are still close in the table with one game after this.

    Toulon 84
    Clermont 82
    Toulouse 74
    Castres 68
    Racing 68
    Montpellier 67

They have a home record to protect which probably prevents them from resting too many players for a home game. The firsts also need gametime because they were all rested all last week.

It's possible since they won't have to play a match de barrage in the Top14 playoffs. They definitely have the squad to do it, can rotate players like Kayser/Paulo, Pierre for Hines/Cudmore and so on.

I think that Munster have a serious discipline problem. The amount of kickable penalties they concede is really disappointing. In the dragons game they outscored their opponents 2:1 in terms of tries, like the Leinster game, but lost after coughing up stupid penalties.

They've managed to pull themselves up to 8th place in the fair play league after languishing in last or second last for at least four seasons

Sure it only counts yellows and reds and proven citings but its a sign that there is a problem but it is improving this season compared to other years.

Toulouse are a bit like ourselves, they've fallen back a bit. We're better than Toulouse in a one off match.

Rougerie doubtful as is Brock James according to the article. Their squad is so strong that it's not a massive loss though Rougerie is pretty iconic.

Now James would be a massive loss,,,,to us.

James is a big loss. He makes things tick for them from outhalf. His ability to attack opposition through the boot is the best in Europe. His range of kicking is class. He lands his up and unders on a penny, is excellent at chipping the defence and sliding grubbers in behind. When you've a Panzer tank division chasing those kicks in Rougerie, Sivivatu, Nalaga and Byrne it's a brilliant approach. It crushed Leinster in Dublin.

Parra takes all the kicks at goal and controls things around the fringe which allows James just to focus on feeding his backs and picking his attacking patterns. It's a superb double act. If Rado starts, he's adequate but not in the same class.

    Good god man.

Toulouse are virtually superior to Munster in every department

Ya, that's why they are in H cup semi-finals and we got eliminated at the pool stages. Superior alright. LOL.

Your "stat" is useless. It means absolutely nothing. It's nonsense.

You think Munster are a better side than everyone except Clermont, Saracens and Toulon?

One of the joys and entertaining aspects of tournaments like the Heineken Cup, along with knockout rugby in general is the idea that the best teams don't always go through. If they did it'd be a pretty boring affair.

Ah, well excuse me if I don't "Lol" but since when does progressing further than a side in one competition mean you're superior to them?

So by your own logic you're saying Munster are better than both Leinster and Ulster in a one off game because of this. Funny that in the one off games we've played against both of them they've beaten us in three out of four (the one we won was against an Ulster B team)

It means everything. Toulouse couldn't even beat Edinburgh last season in the Q/final.

People can be pretending to themselves how great Toulouse are, facts are, results have proven Toulouse not to be great at all.
Munster are in the semis, along with probably the 3 best teams in Europe.

Does that mean last season Edinburgh were one of the top and most feared sides in Europe because they made the semis?

With this sentence you have just contradicted yourself entirely. Like the entire point you are trying to make! :pac:

You're sitting here telling us that Munster are better than Toulouse cause you are in the semi and that's the sign of a good team, yet at the same time labelling Edinburgh crap despite them getting to a semi final. :D

The Heineken cup isn't the only way of judging teams, Toulouse are playing in a much tougher league then Munster and are in the top three, whereas Munster are miles off making the play-offs in the Rabo. That is pretty telling to the respective quality of the sides.

Last season, Edinburgh were quite a good team, and could easily have taken Ulster in the semi. And Toulouse certainly feared them.

Might not be a better team, but we're having a better season. That's all that matters in the grand scheme of things.

Do you think last season that Edinburgh were a better team than every single team who wasn't in the semi final?
