Wishing people a happy Christmas doesn't tie into any sort of character in which somebody might plant bombs at a marathon. Obviously they've gone mental and changed a lot since then, regardless of it have anything to do Islam or not.

Just realised it's the twentieth anniversary of the end of the Waco siege today. This thing is becoming quite similar.

    How?

I feel like with all this hysteria, even if he walked out with his hands up, they'd still shoot him on sight.

Any information they don't want to make public is on encrypted frequencies.

I wonder what benefit having open channels has or if they just haven't updated technologies.

Maybe it allows different services to listen in in times like these.

They seem to be going house-to-house.. do they know which one he is in? Is there any communication?

Imagine being him and knowing that all of this is going on outside.

Probably savouring the last couple of hours of his failed life. I wonder if he feels any regret yet?

This is going to be suicide by cop I'd say!

It does sound like he has been radicalised, and it does sound like they hadn't a clue what they were doing, got a copy of the Anarchists Cookbook and thought they'd be safe, but there's no way he's going to be taken alive.

I'm beginning to think he's dead. Probably killed himself an hour ago, and Booby trapped his house...

Ah, the bombings must have been a protest from the anti-gun lobby.

Sure you used to be able to pick up mobile phone calls on scanners in this country about 10-15 years ago. My mate had one and we used to earwig in.

Crazy to think it's still possible to do exactly that with a police force in this day and age.

He probably does. Wouldn't be surprised if he's an impressionable kid that the older brother led into radicalism. Looks like the pair of them hadn't a clue what they were going to do in the aftermath of all this. Doesn't really have any of the hallmarks of a well-organised attack that they would have been "trained" for by any outside organisation.

If his older brother was the mastermind I wouldn't be surprised if the guy does give himself up. The dead one seems like he was a committed radical while the younger brother just seems normal, if he's not committed "to the cause" and was just following his brother he may not go all the way. Doubtful but I wouldn't be surprised.

Did they just say that someone was in contact with the suspect?

Guy on Sky News said he (Younger Guy) was quite popular and liked. Most people knew him in his school.

NBC reporting that a senior police official told one of its investigative producers that police are seeking a third person, an as-yet-unidentified accomplice of the two brother suspects (one slain, one on the run).

There a couple of guys in a car who say they "made contact with the suspect". It's hard to know what that means, though.
