While I appreciate his mental toughness (and I genuinely do, its absolutely top class) it also boils down to not making mistakes. Clermont will thrive on both missed (or poor) tackles and any wayward kicks. It also takes some invention to break down their defence and I'm not sure kicks to the corner and kick and chase will do the job.

Brock v Leinster is a classic case of the yips , wonder if they will return :). CA as good a team as they are, have very little silverware , and the team as a collective seem to get a case of big match nerves, will be an interesting match, as they will also not be in their own stadium.

We've won 4 away Q/finals and 3 away S/finals, not a bad record in the H?cup. This game will probably be the toughest task of all though. Toulouse in 2000 might have been similar ask. Here's hoping.

That simply isn't true anymore. A few years ago maybe. They were aiming for the HEC last season and we all saw how close they came to the final. I still get nervous watching the last few mins of that SF. In the last 2 years they've been knocked out by the champions. But they have been getting steadily better each year imo. Compare the team this year to the one in the RDS or even Landsdowne Rd in previous seasons. I really don't see them bottling it.

That's the best record of all.

I remember Toulouse in 2000, that would be regarded as a far bigger upset than this 1. Back then NO team would win in France, let alone in Toulouse. They had thrashed us by 60 odd points only a few seasons before it. That turned out to be a watershed moment in the history of the tournament.

"Without boasting, making playing field in the battle and conquest, I do not see how we will not pass this obstacle."

"Nobody crossed the line in-goal and Clermont are rubbing their hands as they watched the game, they must say that they have the chance to play, Saturday, April 27, Montpellier, such an opponent, predictable, and not very sharp borrowed ball in hand."

Oh yeah. Even in pidgin Googlish, that there's fighting talk!

Oh, I think once the Clermont backs see Paulie skipping towards them we'll see who'll be sh*ting piles ;)

That cracked me up. Google not even close.

I think that should be; ""We know well that we need to take our scores because in a game of small margins, they are very strong"

Munster shouldn't win based on their form this season and also based on the fact that Clermont are on fire at the moment. All that said, this is a knockout competition and if Munster can get stuck in early and sustain the same intensity they had against Quins then Clermont may start losing belief and buckle (but I doubt it!).

Come on Munster (win or lose!)

I think 9 times out of 10 Clermont would beat Quins comfortably (in France).

I'd say Clermont do fear Munster in the sense of their record/reputation but that doesn't really count for much in my book (Who cares about what happened in 2006 & 2008, the majority of that side are gone). IMO that's the only reason they would be concerned about Munster, as I said in a previous post only POC, POM and Zebo would get into their starting lineup IMO.

The battle in the second row is going to be something else. Hines, Cudmore, POC and Ryan. We need to dominate in the lineout and hold out in the scrums to give us any platform, because in general play Munster are considerably inferior. Clermont have serious ball carriers to come off the bench, like Paulo, Debaty (who knocked out BOD in the 6N) and Vermeulen.

There has been a sense of inevitably this season since Clermont beat Leinster in the Aviva. This is their year.

I wouldn't. Quins are English champs and were top seeds. They are not the pushover many on here want us to believe.

The scrum battle will be absolutely vital. Botha and Kilcoyne will have their work cut out.

You'd have to hope Ryan is fit and firing too, what will the bench option be if DOC is out? Holland?

Clermont are both a well coached, structured team (which Quins could conceivably claim to be), but also have 20-25 top quality, hefty players at their disposal (which Quins certainly don't). It's another step up completely.

What's comfortably? I'd favour Quins +10 to beat Clermont in Montpellier.

If you look at Clermont over the last 2 seasons, they are almost as good away from home as at home, the got the double over Leinster this year, and sort of demolished Saracens away in last year's q/final.

Comfortably is 10-15 points in my mind.
