Who planted the bombs does anyone know

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 buffalo909

I presume that its not known who did this yet? Listening to the news here in Sydney and they can't say the word "terrorist" enough even though they don't have any idea about whos responsible..

Scary to think that it's an act of terrorism, just as scary to think that somebody was capable of carrying this out by themselves

Looking at the evidence available to the public right now, this looks more likely to be a Timothy McVeigh or Ted Kaczynski or Anders Breivik than islamists for a few reasons.

Nobody has claimed it yet, if they had, it would be public knowledge already, it would be on youtube/facebook/twitter/etc. If it was islamists they would have claimed it as quickly as possible to make it as big a "victory" as possible.

It's looking like devices were planted at various points rather than suicide bombings.
Islamist groups use suicide bombings for 2 reasons, firstly there is far less chance of the bomb not exploding is there is someone there to trigger it themselves and 2 it means there is less chance of the bomber being caught and identifying his commanders after the face.

That said it really doesn't matter who did this, it's horrible and regardless of the religion or skin tone the bomber has killed 3 people and injured scores more and ruined innocent lives forever and there is no justification for that, ever.

Police are searching an apartment in Boston. All leave cancelled and they are working 12 hour shifts.

Its still hard to believe, according to a family source, the mother and sister of the 8 year old killed were also injured as they waited for the father to finish the race. While the news will focus on deaths, there are so many peoples lives irreversibly changed, having to learn how to walk without limbs, function in their daily life, lot of different psychological conditions that csn come into play

Next press conference is at 9.30 local, am I correct in saying thats 2.30 here?

I have zero empathy for the american powers that be in the middle of it.

that for me please, you mean the police, army, Obama, what? Because it seems very speculative to me.

Andy Gray (soccer pundit) discussing the incident on radio just now:

"tragic events, i can't understand the mentality of who could do such a thing, it's mind-blowing"

Was all going well up to the end.

That's the problem, you refuse to clarify what your feelings are, just post some vague guff about the American powers and then go on about derailing threads.

Disgusted at what happened. Of all events to target, a marathon... A total disregard for life. What will this outrageous attack achieve? Absolutely nothing positive for the attackers. It will destroy hundreds of innocent lives.

People have stated on here that there is no need to film or photograph of the aftermath. In truth, this is essential. People must understand what happened at this event and you won't truly understand that by reading a newspaper article. The absolute terror which you see in these pictures and video tells the true story. It must be reported for all to see. It doesn't do any justice to hide your head in the sand and ignore the facts.

A picture of a little girl running a 5k race. A picture if a young boy running a race.
A picture of a man huddling up to an injured women on the street.

Three pictures currently being circulated on social networking sites with fictitious stories attached. The idiots perpetuating the lies are one thing, but who are the scumbags who initially start this looking for attention? Piggybacking a tragic event like this for a few likes or retweets, disgusting!

The first two photos I've seen alright - and big texts across the photos saying "share"

I'm struggling to see the motive. Obviously inciting terror but to what end? It's neither a political or military target and the participants were international. Who benefits from this kind of act when they don't claim it. I'd be more inclined to believe this was a personally motivated act rather than organised terror. I also wouldn't rule out a criminal link such as the cartels.

    Dunno what's worse:

The people putting meme's and pages up on Facebook / Twitter for likes and shares. Bundle that with fake, heart-string pulling pictures and you have yourself a social media whore. At last, their chance to have something viral, regardless of taste.

People using this as another cheapshot at America and it's involvement in war. The conspiracy machine is ticking along nicely as well over this, too.

People going around with a scorecard of how they show more empathy because they apparently shed tears for every civilian casualty down in the Middle East.

It's predictable for someone to wave the "bombs everyday in Iraq" the moment people show empathy for anything in a Western country.

    Actually, they're all equally scummy.

It's possible it was linked to the Oklahoma anniversary (which in turn was on/around the anniversary of Waco). Although I still don't see the correlation between those and Boston?

Could be linked to the Sandy Hook tragedy, given that a large number of runners were running in memory of the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy.

The FBI SAC was very tight lipped about things last night, would be interesting to see what further updates they have at the press conference

A fail to a see a link or reason for that to make someone a target. What do you mean?

What would be the objective? Dont take away our guns or we'll blow you up? No I think if it is domestic its either one crazed lunatic or something to do with waco/oklahoma and some ****ed up seperatists

It could be linked to anything, namely Waco, Red Ridge(?) and Oklahoma City.

    Could be Jihadists.

Who knows. Saying that now is not the time for speculation is futile because it can't really apply to Boards, so I think I'll leave this thread now.

Probably not as bad as the Fox pundit who on air blamed the Muslims and joked "lets kill them all"

Condolences to those who have been injured and those killed. But why does it have to be so graphic? what is the end purpose? I mean look at the title on the Daily Mail website now, ask yourself what is the purpose of the following title:

" 'These runners just finished and they don’t have legs now': Witnesses recount war zone at Boston Marathon as bombs left 26th mile littered with disembodied limbs and 'shoes with flesh still in them'"

It's sensationalist rubbish designed to build anger and hate. Everyone know the effects of a bomb,no need to describe it to us.

Jayus man that's some speculation there. Who's next the bloods and the crips? Watch collateral damage the other night?!

Agree though, everything points the way of a homegrown right wing nutjob.

Because bombs going off are graphic. A lot of people think they know what the aftermath looks like...but you really don't know until you see images of the horror.

Graphic doesn't necessarily mean sensationalist every time though. You could have a very graphic headline which wasn't sensationalist. It's all in the wording.
