GW Pharmacy have been granted a licence to rip the Irish people by selling them THC extract from the female cannabis plant!!

Cannabis has no recorded deaths attributable to it but Sativex and Marinol do and our "government" are happy to sidestep the testing of this "new" drug and just bring it straight to shelf!! How much does that cost a huge UK pharma lobbyist these days I wonder??

Any self respecting recreational or medical user of cannabis or extract will have extremely little regard for the laws or lawmakers who after lying to us for over 50 years want to continue lying to us by "trying" to say GW pharmacies 100% THC is ok but what we can all grow for ourselves is not!!

A pharmaceutical company producing a drug, paying researchers, carrying out trials and marketing the product isn't the same as some stoner rolling a spliff and listening to Pink Floyd.

Oh the humanity, won't someone think of the children.

The difference is, the pharmaceutical company wants to make money, the stoner just wants to chill out and relax.

they produced nothing, they merely extracted it from the plant material and sell it back to us fools with massive markup

do your research on the subject then get back to me

Its a step in the right direction anyway. If this drug proves successful it will be harder for the government to label cannabis as dangerous.

the very fact they're bringing it in but insisting they're going to write the law so it's only ok for GW pharmacy to have anything to do with THC and continue to try criminalise people for growing or possession of what is now deemed a beneficial medicine will be enough for most people to go ahead and grow their own.

Just look at the amount of grows in Ireland since the head shop and now imagine what this move will do

Good point. Give it 5-10 years and the attitudes will finally be right for legalisation. Going in the with 'Those capitalist pigs are just ripping us off, man!' attitude is counterproductive. Logical argument backed up with overwhelming scientific evidence over a number of years is the way to go, along with the steadily growing examples of of other countries legalising. Especially telling is the US's attitudes changing after years of harsh penalties.

BTW I don't use any illegal drugs and I'm still in favour of legalising THC.

Fact is that the MS sufferer will be paying hundreds if not thousands to GW Pharma when they could grow the same thing at home on their windowbox for free.

so all the logical arguments and overwhelming scientific evidence of the last 50+ years isn't good enough??

the dogs on the street know the only reason this is happening now is down to money and not for the good of our health

That doesn't make sense. If it was down to money then it would have been legalised and taxed years ago. The actual reason is because legalising THC/CBD in any way was never seen as a vote winner. Soon enough it will be, and we'll go the same way as the rest of Europe.

Great news, (not) the pharma companies are cashing in on a plant, that can grow pretty much anywhere, thats the the power of lobbying & big money. :(

And on the decrim/legalise side of things:

Lads, its well established by now,

as soon as one of these threads pops up, a few informed posts from both sides will get the ball rolling -

Then the 'thunderdome dwellers' will arrive to troll, call people pal, buddy, stoners etc and spill bile about tax eurons etc, its long past old by now, these threads have become pointless because of it.

Uh huh, and that really worked with the religion side of things hasn't it. People getting angry and kicking up a fuss is how things get done in Ireland... which is hard to organise with people like to smoke

Did you report a post? No? Their godlike power of peception must be having an offkilter day so.

I'd be more impressed if Jacobs got the right to produce THC laced biscuits, can't stand smoking the stuff anymore.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Despite IMB approval for a cannabis-based oral spray, the Misuse of Drugs Act will have to be amended before it is introduced and the medical community is divided on the benefits. Kieran Dineen reports

Only approved on principle atm... it's in no way 'legalised'
