RTE's coverage of this murder has been completely skewed, either through downright misinformation or ommission.

    1) This woman was not in the "Continuity IRA". She was in a pseudo-political splinter group calling itself the "Real"CIRA - a limerick based gang.

    2) The CIRA did not release a statement after the murder saying it was a "military operation". Again, she was not in the CIRA.

    3) The man who was shot was a well respected republican involved with Republican Sinn Fein. The organisation RTE news are saying shot him. Something omitted, I assume, through design.

    4) The woman and her associates were removed from the CIRA/RSF movement in 2010 and wer enot part of the organisation.

Instead of reporting the facts, RTE and other media outlets have warped the entire story so that it looks like the CIRA murdered a "hard working man 20 years married". I guess they dont want to combine the latter information with his membership of RSF/association with "dissident" republicanism.

An absolute disgrace RTE. The intentional mixing up of facts to skew the news and construct an anti-republican narrative.

So let me get this right:

There's the "REAL IRA" which is the military wing of the "32 county Sovereignty Committee"

There's the Continuity IRA which is the military wing of Republican Sinn Fein.

And then there's this lot of headbangers from Limerick called the Real Continuity IRA.

Am I with you so far?

I don't know how anybody could possibly confuse any of these. Especially as they are all such vast organisations with massive amounts of popular support.

Judaean People's Front and People's Front of Judaea have nothing on this lot.

If someone burnt a tricolour and constantly referred to it as a terrorist's scarf, would you consider them anti Irish?

....what drivel are you on at now Fred? Its critics of republicanism who call for some talibaneque attitude, not republicans or the ideology itself.

And of course, were there such an attitude put into practice, the 1st shower to criticise it would be the ones who criticised the lack.

You don't need evidence in the Special Criminal Court to secure a conviction in IRA membership charges.
It simply takes a hunch from a Garda Superintendent.
    It's internment basically.
I would not take the SCC as an indication of anything, and nor would most functioning European nations.
Even in Britain, many of the IRA membership charges accepted in Dublin would be laughed out of court.
(Incidentally, people were duped in the GFA debates of 1998 that this Court would be broken up, and the draconian emergency legislation be scrapped...it has been made more draconian)
does the fact that she admitted she is guilty of all charges have anything to do with the truth here????
Can't believe the number of terrorist/criminal (all the same in my book) apologists we still have around (poor deluded fools)

It sounds like the uplink to the collective isn't working again today.

No logic or consistency would be involved. It's a silly, stupid remark based on the odd notion that republicanism is based on hatred of all things British.

O.K let me get this straight, this guy I was referring to is in support of a dissedent republican terrorist group.
An organisation that rejects the GF agreement and supports continued murder of british security personel or citizens, the murder of people with families.
His political radicalism is that intense.
Yet at the same time he enjoys the culture and openly wears the clothes of a british institution because he loves it that much.

And that makes sense to you?

I just can't get over how stupid this argument is. Not all republicans are this horrendously stupid, at least the purists, while deluded, are consistent.

It's like the guy in the celtic top outside croke park with a no-to-foreign-games sign.

You may not know it but this attitude is either a total farce, a laughing stock, a shame to the purists and a shame to irish people because it lives up to the worst stereotype of the thick paddy.

I mean, jesus, If you saw a member of AL qaeda enjoying an NBA game would you think the same thing?

They might think they were being anti-irish, but the flag represents the state not nessecarily the people. Secondly the state and the PIRA were seperate entities.

It's a feckin football club, not an agent of imperialism. Get a grip.

Would you consider them anti Irish?

Would you think it odd if Willie Fraser turned up in Tallaght wearing a Rovers shirt?

Would you consider them anti Irish??

That would depend on what was going through their little heads at the time.

Not really. Word is he may be a closet GAA fan anyway.

Ah c'mon Nod,it's usually me that gets the "Clutchin at straws" slapdown.....

This is Glasgow Celtic you're talkin about here, one of the few true relics of what a certain (and substantial) number of Republican's believe to be "The Cause."

I suspect, but cannot be certain, that Imperialists are represented by (Glasgow) Rangers.

To suggest that it's just a "feckin football club" really does invite the wrath of God down upon your shoulders.

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

It doesn't matter if it's a football club, rugby club, holiday destination or place of employment. That's a pointless argument.

What would you think if a loyalist who still believed in 'taking the war to dublin', turned up at your local county match in the All-Ireland.

Be honest with yourself about that. What would you think? That he would be happy if you or your family were killed in a bomb or gun attack for the sake of ulster but still wanted to watch GAA?

    It doesn't matter if it's a sport, it's hypocrisy at it's worst.

Again, you're asking for some blanket hatred, which is bizarre. I disagree with American foriegn policy, as do many Americans. We are under no obligation - moral or logical - to thus hate all things American.

The likes of her and her criminal gang that call themselves republicans give real republicans a bad name. Shooting an innocent irishman dead for the irish cause ? What an idiot

look, really just think about it. Please.

Is disagreeing with foreign policy the same as supporting a terrorist organisation that kills civilians?

Considering that I would have supported armed resistance to some of it, I'd imagine so.

I don't see where I mentioned dissidents there, so I don't know what you pulled that out of.

Jesus christ man, I've mentioned it about half a dozen times, that's what the story is about, a dissident republican supporter outside the courthouse shouting Tiocfaigh ar la in a liverpool trackie.

Are you a liar, I even posted dissident in direct quote of you post which you replied to

Yes, and I've pointed out to you that there is no hypocrisy, lack of logic or anything else in that. You want some blanket hatred for all things British that doesn't exist. However if it did rear its ugly head, you'd be in to criticise that as well.

are you on a wind up?

you think it's fine for this guy, who supports murder of british civilians and opposses democracy, in 2013, post gf agreement, to also enjoy and partake in the benefits of british society?

You think it's fine that this guy thinks an english man, woman or child can die for the sake of an undemocratic goal, but also likes their things?

No way are you for real.

You say it's ''only a feckin' football club'' dimissing it as small time, but also think it's reasonable to enjoy this small time activity while supporting MURDER of people for a undemocratic political goal ? :D

I've never communicated with an adult that limited in thought.

Bin Laden was an Arsenal fan.

Whether it's "fine" or not is irrelevant. I've merely pointed out that hostility to certain aspect of a nation shouldn't be taken as some xenophobic hatred to all of it. You seem to be on some emotional rollercoaster towards the whole thing, as far as I can see.

yes and bin laden is one we should all look to as point of reference.

I'm done with you, I knew people like you lived under rocks all over the country, it's just sickening to have to listen to it. I hope for no other reason that to spite you people, that ulster remains forever british.

Yep, I'm a bad person for pointing out that using one aspect of a religion, nationality or states activities or past to justify a blanket xenophobia is "thick", racist, sectarian etc.

If it walks like a duck.

    And quacks like a duck.
