The SFA's go-to response whenever their referees make a disgrace of themselves

They cant hang him on the post match comments so they scrape the bottom of the barrell to tag him with something, anything to issue a ban for pointing out their incompetence.

Exactly. That'll be him suspended for the end of the season again. Oh well, he can put his feet up and watch his side walk to the title once again while the SFA fume about it.

Total joke from the SFA. Goodwin himself says he had plenty to say back to Lennon but that it was all no big deal and heat of the moment. If they start going after managers for cursing during games there will be nobody left to do any games. Total non event.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,940 ✭✭✭BhoscaCapall

It's okay for fans to sing stuff loud and clear to the point broadcasters have to make apologies for it, but a manager calling someone a "f'n fanny" can elicit a suspension

Disagree with the comments above. Swearing and personal abuse are not the same thing, calling someone a "fcukin' fanny" is personal abuse no matter how to try to water it down into bad language or cursing. A manager should not be dishing out personal abuse like that in public at a game, and the SFA are not doing anything wrong in punishing Lenny for it.

Lenny has been a great manager for us, but needs to learn to control his temper when things are not going his way. All part of the learning experience imo.

Much ado about nothing really, he'll take a ban for a few games and that'll be that. But this "poor us" bull**** from a lot of Celtic fans is becoming tiresome at this stage.

Plenty of managers do be swearing at games and plenty of it falls under personal abuse and they dont be done for it like this. They get warnings from the 4th official to stop or be sent to the stands and it goes into the match report etc. Thats how its normally handled and this is nonsence. I thought referees were in charge of matches? No doubt the 4th official heard Lennon shouting aswell.

Its not a 'poor us' mentality either, plenty of other managers have been done by the SFA this season

Lennon does need to learn to tone it down although i will admit i laughed at the video

I laughed as well, don't get me wrong, and personally it would not bother me to hear it at the game. All I'm saying is that the SFA are just applying the rules, Lenny has nothing to complain about if he gets hit with a ban. Whether the SFA are consistent or not in applying punishment is another story.

My reference to "poor us" was really in relation to a thread on KDS I read about the incident, it really is ridiculous, surprised Ian Paisley and Maggie Thatcher are not being blamed as well for the complaint against Lenny!! Just a bit sick of reading the "everyone is out to get us" type stuff from certain sections of our support.

Looking forward to Saturday, first time in ages I've been to CP, could win the league depending on results that day.

I see Miku has been mouthing off to the press, won't be seeing him again in a Celtic shirt I reckon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,666 ✭✭✭blahfckingblah

ah you see theres your mistake KDS is the message board equivalent to running head first into a wall.

I saw that alright, no loss to be honest. i can only remember one occasion where he played decent. He pretty much badmouthed the whole spl with his assumption that he should play regularly because its the spl. seems like a cocky little **** we dont need his brand of negativity about

Miku seemed very arrogant in that interview, he scored a goal for his country and expected to be playing the next game? He forget that he has had plenty of gametime and done very little with it. Pawel Brozek had this moan too and I see he hasnt proven Lennon wrong afterwards so its a case of some players coming to Celtic for a percieved holiday camp. He runs channels and holds up the ball, bravo, I think we could have gotten Emile Heskey to do that! We need a player that can do that and more. In that respect I dunno why we are looking at Kevin Doyle. He's just another workhorse forward with little cutting edge and he wont score much in the SPL. Finding another Sutton/Hartson on the cheap wont be easy for Lennon.

When Miku talks about coming from the best league in the world to Scotland that smacks of a player who thought he was coming over for a nice wage and a walk in the park. In other words he got off to a bad start most likely because he didn't have a good attitude and or work very hard because he though it would be easy at Celtic. All in all the usual crap you get from some players who point fingers everywhere but at themselves when they can't get into a team.

lol @ saying it was "personal abuse". He wasn't even being aggressive when he said it, he was mocking Goodwin for clattering one of the smallest players on the pitch. Goodwin laughed and told him to f-off back. Not the first time that a 50/50 incident Lennon is involved in is not treated as such though. Fact is, nothing would have come of it had he not (quite rightly) criticised the referee - only because he criticised the shocking decisions against both sides the SFA weren't able to play the sour grapes card so had to find something more snakey to get him with.

Re. Miku, didn't he say something along the lines of "how can I not start in the SPL if I started in La Liga"? I think he needs to be reminded that it's Celtic he's playing for, not Kilmarnock. Playing for a ****e team in a good league (and it's not that good) is not better than playing for Celtic in a ****e league.

Jim Goodwin has offered to go to the SFA hearing and speak on Lennon's behalf. That would embarrass Lunny & the SFA!

Its been confirmed that the referee & 4th official did not say anything about this in their reports. If Lennon is done, I bet every club will ban broadcasters from having microphones anywhere near the technical areas.

I see they have also have a soundbite from Pat Fenlon on how ridiculous this is. I doubt Kenny Shiels or Steve Lomas will say a word to the media because they'd only end up in the dock again with what they think of referees and the SFA!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,940 ✭✭✭BhoscaCapall

Goodwin's just paranoid. Of course the SFA don't unfairly target Lennon, constantly.

FAC DEMO planned to go ahead tomorrow but Police say there needed to be a 28 day notice period, could turn nasty again.

They just dont like honest opinions, same happened to Lomas & Shiels this season so its not just Lennon.

I think the police will make a tit of themselves tomorrow, but the people organising that demo tomorrow arent helping their cause at all.

    Gerry Braiden‏@GerryBraiden58m
City council folk insist difference with Rangers' Hampden march & notification period was "the club may no longer have existed in 28 days".

When asked about the Rangers marches, that was their response.

Seems a bit of a flimsy excuse. Hope it goes well tomorrow and no hassle.

Thats an extenuating circumstance no matter what way you try to look at it.

The demonstration tomorrow dont have an extenuating circumstance, do they?

What a surprise that the police are not accommodating a protest against the police behaving like animals

It's lose-lose for the GB really. Either they meekly tuck their tails between their legs and let the police bully them around or they protest and let the police arrest them.

Why do they need 28 days notice? They managed to assemble an absolute army of coppers, vans and helicopters for the last "unplanned" protest.

I suppose 28 days gives them enough time to hassle and intimidate everyone' family and arrest key members on fabricated charges ahead of any protest.

Or apply for the proper permits and give them no excuse not to allow the protest and see what they do then?

A guy got cleared today who was arrested at Dundee game for singing Roll of Honour another guy is charged with singing Soldiers Song. This nonsense has to stop

30 or 40 supporters buses will be there, i doubt the police will be capable of stopping thousands of fans.

If it goes ahead they won't stop thousands, they'll target and arrest the same people they've been hassling for years.

Good for Jim Goodwin though coming forward and speaking out about what a joke this whole situation is. It is a joke but he could have kept his mouth shut and not said a thing so well done Jim Goodwin.Once again the SFA making a laughing stock of Scottish football.

    FAC statement addresses this:

    http://www.celtictrust.net/index.php?func=d_home_article&id=410

Seems that, quite predictably, the police are being as unhelpful and uncooperative as possible knowing that it will fan the flames and provide more excuses for a heavy handed approach.
