Dont know it says Award: Full Maintenance and 100% Fees Adjacent then says Maintance Grant: €2,375.01 (googled this figure it says its special rate). Bit of a Joke I have been waiting since june and only awarded fees now.

Well as others have said you can't get both the grant and BTEA at the same time unless you were receiving both before the new system came into effect.
I would try and get Robbie the SUSI Rep here to look into your case.
Don't spend any of the money until you find out for definite as you will have to repay it if your not entitled to it.

I just wondering what the story is with back dated payments, will the grant be split over remaining payments or will we recive the full backdated payment as one installment?

The appeals process can take up to 30 days with the Appeals Officer. In some cases it can be processed in a shorter timeframe.

Ha. Mine took four and a half months. And that was just to get a decision.

Hi Robbie, am just wondering if the fees for second year are automatically paid or will we have to do this all over again? Thanks a million

Just got the award letter! it says:

    Award: Part Maintenance (25%) adjacent
    Maintenance Grant: €305.01

It was a Level 5 Plc that I paid €750 for in fees to the college. Is any of that covered by the grant does anyone know?

Second question- can any bank account be used for the maintenamce to be paid into? I don't have one of my own. Did't see the need as I have had no money up to now. Could use my parents bank ccount number to get the grant paid into?

If you get a maintenance grant that also covers fees so yes the 750 euro should be covered

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I have just gone through any number of websites only to find that PLC fees are not covered by grant. If you are eligible for a grant you do not have to pay government levy of €200.

I emailed the college and we are too late for any refund of the €200.
Needless to say I am not a bit happy. We got a pathetic €300 as an adjacent grant, which cost I don't know how much in registered letter fees, and phone calls, not to mention stress.

I just got my letter in the mail today. It says I have been granted 100% Maintenance Grant at €1,215. What I want to know is, is that €1,215 PER MONTH or is that a one time payment? And also if that IS a monthly amount, since I am just now getting it, will I get BACK PAY for the months I have not received it when school started in October? So 5 months of no money would be €6,075.

Also, I just put in my bank details on the website today, so how long until the money is in my account?

    I am so confused. Help.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 689 ✭✭✭donegal11

1,215 would be the full adjacent rate. So if your within 40km of college that's all you'll get for the year.

Its 1215 in total definitely not per month.

SUSI usually pay it over 9 months.

    Hi,

I wonder if anyone could advise me. Back at the beginning of February, my appeal was successful and I moved from a rate of a max 2000 fee contribution for postgrad students to the 6270 fee contribution. Since then, SUSI has not contacted my university to correct my balance, and as a result, I have been waiting on a fee refund for the fees that I have already had to pay, and money is running short.

I've contacted the payments department 3 times by email. They responded the first time to say they would be back in contact with UCD. I went to the student desk after this and they confirmed SUSI had not contacted them. I contacted the student payments@cdvec email twice more, and have not received a response.

I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation. All I need susi to do is contact UCD to confirm my grant award has changed. I know Susi have no control over when I get my refund cheque, but the college has to know that my grant status has changed before that can happen.

    You are very welcome.

Once you have received your awarded letter, registered your bank account details and after your college has confirmed your attendance/registration, in most cases, payment is made within two weeks.

    I hope this helps.

As always, if anyone has any further queries, please do not hesitate to PM me and I would be happy to help.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Robbie,

I am doing a Post Grad course and I received a letter stating that I do not qualify for the Special Rate of Grant.

The letter stated that while your reckonable income is below the limit your payment of the jobseekers Allowance was not long term as required as per schedule 2. There was no calculation or reference to the days that I received jobseekers allowance within the letter.

I was made redundant in October 2010 and secured short term unemployment up until May 2011.
I was unemployed from May 2011 up until June 2012 and from August 2012 to present.
I am currently on Back to Education Allowance.

I did have get short term work from 25th June 2012 until August 2012.

A person in the department said that I had to work 391 days to qualify for the special fees grant however I worked from Friday May 2011 until Monday, 25 June 2012 which is 395 days.

I also have a mortgage which I can't afford to pay and I may have to drop out of the course if I can't pay the fees.
    I would appreciate your help.

I would greatly appreciate your help.

    Adrian

You can't get the grant when on BTEA.
