cool, dont forget to qa flag on 3.55cfw before you go to 4.31cfw!

What 3.55 CFW do you recommend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 274 ✭✭ufc pro

the one i used and the most popular is 3.55 kmaew, but unl ss you are staying at 3.55cfw it does not really matter!

I'm on kmeaw 3.55 now and installed the QA package - just getting a blank screen WiFi activity light is flickering though

Second time I launched QA I got three or four beeps and then back to the dash board, those this mean it was installed correctly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 274 ✭✭ufc pro

no after that go to network settings and JUST HIGHLIGHT IT DO NOT SELECT and push L1 R1 L2 R2 L3 and down on the d pad if you do it right some extra options will come up!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,828 ✭✭✭Reamer Fanny

Great your on 3.55 now download toggle QA by REBUG, install it via pkg files. Run the pkg, you should hear some beeps, now to confirm go to network settings and push at the same time L1 R1 L2 R2 L3 and down on the d pad. If the menu showed up you have successfully dehashed. DO NOT continue if you have not verified that the above step worked.

Tried the button combination but don't see a menu

Ok tried that now and got the "Edy Viewer", "Debug Settings" and "Install Package Files" options

if you dont see the menu you did not do it right! repeat the steps install pkg again and go down to network settings and press the buttons one after the other like a piano key no together, l3is the analog on the left, its a bit tricky but it will work!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,828 ✭✭✭Reamer Fanny

Thanks for the help I'm on CFW 4.31 now - do you know any good homebrew apps?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 274 ✭✭ufc pro

no prob, you will need multiman but make sure you install the base version first and then the newer version, multiman plays your backups and emulators and stuff you will need this, after that i dont stray too much, but feel free, theres a whole world of apps, trial and errror, oh and showtime for your media, enjoy your cfw ps3, they are awesome!

I appreciate the advice, last time I dabbled with CFW for the PS3 was back in 2010 when 3.55 was common. Just got multiman and will install a few more homebrew apps, probably a stupid question but can this PS3 play games online?

sorry for the late reply, around when black ops2 came out there was alot of bans going around, only within a couple of minutes of being online, to be honest im not sure,i do remember seeing a tutorial on ps3 hax in the tut section about how to go online and be safe, but like the xbox you never know its not 100%,because you are not using game discs i think its easier to pick it up, what i would say is have a read on ps3hax and make up your own mind whether you think its worth it,i never play online on mine, sorry i could not be more helpfull!

You will quickly find that alot of people here aren't going to be very helpful towards you trying to cheat in Black Ops 2.

Who said anything about cheating in Black Ops 2? I'm sorry but I like my FPS with a little more depth.

I wasn't asking for cheating purposes, what if I wanted to use PSN for Netflix? I've researched it and looks as though you'd get banned so it's a similar situation with the Xbox 360.

You'll only get banned for playing that game with any mods enabled. You're worrying about it happening when you're saying that you won't be playing with any mods enabled. That's the only reason it seems to ever happen so why are you worried?

...because you're going to be playing with mods enabled. ;-)

No I never said I'd be modding games... So I'm am safe to play my own legitimate hard copies online?

Exactly I never mentioned modding games online anywhere, I'd be playing my own legitimate disc based games, I suppose I should have clarified my question - is cfw detectable by PSN and would I be banned on that basis.

There were definite ban waves, how it works these days with 4.31cfw etc though I've no idea...I'd imagine they are still detectable

Thanks EN this pretty much sums it up

"PSN is now available again on CFW 4.xx - how long this will last is anyones guess, but as of 11/2012, it's working fine."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,274 ✭✭✭MrVestek

PSN hasn't stopped working for me and I'm still on a 4.30 cfw (spoofed to be 4.31).

Seriously the only people that have had the banhammer laid down on them are usually the ones that make it pretty damned obvious that they're running CFW.

Arn't the new CFW designed so that look more and more like the OFW such as getting rid of install packages files from the main menu and other things. I thought this was for helping with detection issues.

My PS3 is connected online but this is more for game updates and software updates (i.e. multiman/showtime). I have yet to sign into PSN though a quite a few of my games would really like me to and they are starting to get me tempted.

    Hi guys.

I got my PS3 back after being sent off to be downgraded from 4.31 OFW. I'm looking to put on Rogero 4.30 v 2.05.

I have read that installing CFW on a downgraded system can be dangerous as there's a chance of bricking.

Apart from running toggle_qa.pkg and making sure I can see the Edy Viewer, and then installing Rogero from the recovery menu, is there anything else I should be aware/arfaid of first? (I have heard that you don't need to run the QA Flag when upgrading to Rogero 2.05 but it's no harm anyway).

Thanks a million, I'd really appreciate any help.

What firmware is your machine now currently on?

I thought the whole point of downgrading your firmware would to be so you can install CFW in the first place!!

I've mentioned it before but this was the guide I used when I installed CFW on my PS3 without any issues. Quite easy to follow and includes backing up of your NAND or NOR etc

Sorry, I failed to mention that I'm on Kmeaw 3.55.

I've been told you have to be very careful when changing firmwares once the console has been downgraded.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 553 ✭✭✭Gadge

    All sorted now.

I needed to install OFFICIAL 3.55 first from the recovery (after running Toggle QA) and then update to Rogero 4.30 2.05 from there, again using recovery.
